Evaluation of the hierarchical temporal memory soft computing platform and its VLSI architecture

A large number of real world applications, like user support systems, can still not be performed easily by conventional algorithms in comparison with the human brain. Recently, such intelligence has often been reached by using probability based systems. This paper presents results on the implementation of one such user support system, namely an intention estimation information appliance system, on a Bayesian network as well as hierarchical temporal memory. The latter is a new and quite promising soft computing platform modelling the human brain, though currently only available as a software model. A second part of the paper therefore focuses on a possible VLSI architecture for hierarchical temporal memory. Since it models the human brain, communication as well as memory are of high importance for this VLSI architecture

On Subexponentials, Synthetic Connectives, and Multi-level Delimited Control

International audienceWe construct a partially-ordered hierarchy of delimited control operators similar to those of the CPS hierarchy of Danvy and Filinski. However, instead of relying on nested CPS translations, these operators are directly interpreted in linear logic extended with subexponentials (i.e., multiple pairs of ! and ?). We construct an independent proof theory for a fragment of this logic based on the principle of focusing. It is then shown that the new constraints placed on the permutation of cuts correspond to multiple levels of delimited control

A method of implementing Hartree-Fock calculations with zero- and finite-range interactions

We develop a new method of implementing the Hartree-Fock calculations. A class of Gaussian bases is assumed, which includes the Kamimura-Gauss basis-set as well as the set equivalent to the harmonic-oscillator basis-set. By using the Fourier transformation to calculate the interaction matrix elements, we can treat various interactions in a unified manner, including finite-range ones. The present method is numerically applied to the spherically-symmetric Hartree-Fock calculations for the oxygen isotopes with the Skyrme and the Gogny interactions, by adopting the harmonic-oscillator, the Kamimura-Gauss and a hybrid basis-sets. The characters of the basis-sets are discussed. Adaptable to slowly decreasing density distribution, the Kamimura-Gauss set is suitable to describe unstable nuclei. A hybrid basis-set of the harmonic-oscillator and the Kamimura-Gauss ones is useful to accelerate the convergence, both for stable and unstable nuclei.Comment: LaTex 32 pages with 6 Postscript figure
