A theory of new type of heavy-electron superconductivity in PrOs_4Sb_12: quadrupolar-fluctuation mediated odd-parity pairings
It is shown that unconventional nature of superconducting state of
PrOs_4Sb_12, a Pr-based heavy electron compound with the filled-Skutterudite
structure, can be explained in a unified way by taking into account the
structure of the crystalline-electric-field (CEF) level, the shape of the Fermi
surface determined by the band structure calculation, and a picture of the
quasiparticles in f-configuration with magnetically singlet CEF ground
state. Possible types of pairing are narrowed down by consulting recent
experimental results. In particular, the chiral "p"-wave states such as
p_x+ip_y is favoured under the magnetic field due to the orbital Zeeman effect,
while the "p"-wave states with two-fold symmetery such as p_x can be stabilized
by a feedback effect without the magnetic field. It is also discussed that the
double superconducting transition without the magnetic field is possible due to
the spin-orbit coupling of the "triplet" Cooper pairs in the chiral state.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, submitted to J. Phys.: Condens. Matter Lette

Turbulence in Boundary Flow of Superfluid He Triggered by Free Vortex Rings
The transition to turbulence in the boundary flow of superfluid He is
investigated using a vortex--free vibrating wire. At high wire vibration
velocities, we found that stable alternating flow around the wire enters a
turbulent phase triggered by free vortex rings. Numerical simulations of vortex
dynamics demonstrate that vortex rings can attach to the surface of an
oscillating obstacle and expand unstably due to the boundary flow of the
superfluid, forming turbulence. Experimental investigations indicate that the
turbulent phase continues even after stopping the injection of vortex rings,

Model Independent Analysis of the Forward-Backward Asymmetry for the Decay
The sensitivity of the zero position of the forward backward asymmetry
for the exclusive
decay is examined by using most general non-standard 4-fermion interactions.
Our analysis shows that the zero position of the forward backward asymmetry is
very sensitive to the sign and size of the Wilson coefficients corresponding to
the new vector type interactions, which are the counter partners of the usual
Standard Model operators but have opposite chirality. In addition to these, the
other significant effect comes from the interference of Scalar-Pseudoscalar and
Tensor type operators. These results will not only enhance our theoretical
understanding about the axial vector mesons but will also serve as a good tool

MODIS normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and vegetation phenology dynamics in the Inner Mongolia grassland
The Inner Mongolia grassland, one of the most important grazing regions in China, has long been threatened by land degradation and desertification, mainly due to overgrazing. To understand vegetation responses over the last decade, this study evaluated trends in vegetation cover and phenology dynamics in the Inner Mongolia grassland by applying a normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) time series obtained by the Terra Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) during 2002–2014. The results showed that the cumulative annual NDVI increased to over 77.10 % in the permanent grassland region (2002–2014). The mean value of the total change showed that the start of season (SOS) date and the peak vegetation productivity date of the season (POS) had advanced by 5.79 and 2.43 days, respectively. The end of season (EOS) was delayed by 5.07 days. These changes lengthened the season by 10.86 days. Our results also confirmed that grassland changes are closely related to spring precipitation and increasing temperature at the early growing period because of global warming. Overall, productivity in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region tends to increase, but in some grassland areas with grazing, land degradation is ongoing
