Zum Einsatz des Kugelschusses bei Weiderindern in Deutschland
Aim of the study was to collect information about the extent of the gunshot as stunning method for cattle kept at pasture in Germany. Ministries of all federal states were asked to send questionnaires to county veterinary authorities. 59.8 % of the 420 German counties provided information. Altogether, the gunshot was authorised for 920 animals (367 as an exceptional permission for 178 farms, 553 as permanent permission for 124 farms). Furthermore, 10 farmers using gunshots were interviewed. All farmers kept beef-suckler cows at pasture year-round. 19 cattle were shot per farm
Advanced friction simulation of standardized friction tests: a numerical and experimental demonstrator
For the characterization of friction conditions under sheet metal forming process conditions, different friction test set-ups are being used in industry. However, different friction tests and test set-ups are known to result in scattering friction results. In this work, the TriboForm software is utilized to numerically model the frictional behavior. The simulated coefficients of friction are experimentally validated using friction results from a standardized strip drawing friction test set-up. The experimental and simulation results of the friction behavior show a good overall agreement. This demonstrates that the TriboForm software enables simulating friction conditions for varying tribology conditions, i.e. resulting in a generally applicable approach for friction characterization under industrial sheet metal forming process conditions
Wave Emission from Heterogeneities Opens a Way to Controlling Chaos in the Heart
The effectiveness of chaos control in large systems increases with the number of control sites. We find that electric field induced wave emission from heterogeneities (WEH) in the heart gives a unique opportunity to have as many control sites as needed. The number of pacing sites grows with the amplitude of the electric field. We demonstrate that WEH has important advantages over methods used in clinics, and opens a new way to manipulate vortices in experiments, and potentially to radically improve the clinical methods of chaos control in the heart
