AGAPEROS: Searching for variable stars in the LMC Bar with the Pixel Method. I. Detection, astrometry and cross-identification

We extend the work developed in previous papers on microlensing with a selection of variable stars. We use the Pixel Method to select variable stars on a set of 2.5 x 10**6 pixel light curves in the LMC Bar presented elsewhere. The previous treatment was done in order to optimise the detection of long timescale variations (larger than a few days) and we further optimise our analysis for the selection of Long Timescale and Long Period Variables (LT&LPV). We choose to perform a selection of variable objects as comprehensive as possible, independent of periodicity and of their position on the colour magnitude diagram. We detail the different thresholds successively applied to the light curves, which allow to produce a catalogue of 632 variable objects. We present a table with the coordinate of each variable, its EROS magnitudes at one epoch and an indicator of blending in both colours, together with a finding chart. A cross-correlation with various catalogues shows that 90% of those variable objects were undetected before, thus enlarging the sample of LT&LPV previously known in this area by a factor of 10. Due to the limitations of both the Pixel Method and the data set, additional data -- namely a longer baseline and near infrared photometry -- are required to further characterise these variable stars, as will be addressed in subsequent papers.Comment: 11 pages with 10 figure

Soil Fertility Characterization Based on Present Weed Specie. In order to determine the soil fertility level using weed indicators, a study was conducted in 4 villages in northern Cameroon. It was based on farmers' interviews and fi eld surveys. It appears that the soil fertility status can be determined by using two groups of weeds: "guide" weeds, orienting the diagnosis according to their relative importance; "indicator" weeds, used to discriminate the two soil types (fertile/ degraded). Presence or absence of the identifi ed species allows farmers to determine whether the plot is fertile or degraded. He can then decide to use the fi eld or not

The building, constructed on approximately 790 square meters, is devoted to a dining room and lodging for visitors in transit and is situated in Echarri-Aranaz, next to the highway, on a clearing in the woods, It possesses an extensive ground floor and two upper levéis covering smaller areas which rise, as a side body, over one of the building's sides. The overall structure houses a bar, dining room, kitchen, management office and a total of eight double rooms and two single rooms. An important double-pitch roof, which covers the two upper floors, together with another with several pitches which with its different planes conforms to the irregular perimeter of the structure on the ground floor, give the building the distinctive characteristics of the architecture typical of the region, in this way adaptedEl edificio, de aproximadamente 790 m2 construidos, se destina a comedor y hospedaje para personas en tránsito, estando emplazado en Echarri - Aranaz, junto a la carretera, en el calvero de un bosque.

Motivic Milnor fibre for nondegenerate function germs on toric singularities

We study function germs on toric varieties which are nondegenerate for their Newton diagram. We express their motivic Milnor fibre in terms of their Newton diagram. We extend a formula for the motivic nearby fibre to the case of a toroidal degeneration. We illustrate this by some examples.Comment: 14 page

Nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus in dairy sheep.

    Get PDF
International audienceThe purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus nasal carriage of dairy sheep in farms producing cheeses manufactured with raw ewe's milk. The study showed that 29% of ewes carried S. aureus in their nares. The genetic diversity of the 136 isolates recovered from the anterior nares of the ewes, from the ambient air of the milking parlour and from cheeses was investigated using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) of DNA SmaI digests. The genotyping results showed that 75 out of 106 isolates recovered from nasal carriage in dairy sheep belonged to a dominant pattern (previously named OV) and a genetically related pattern (named OV'). The same profile (OV or OV') was found in the ambient air and cheeses, suggesting a continuum between isolates within these different compartments

    Get PDF
In the few works on memory in Nietzsche, the relationship between memory and resentment is especially prominent, staring with the first treatise of On the Geneology of Morals. The objective of this article is to demonstrate a prior relationship between bad conscience and memory which appears implicitly in the second treatise. For this purpose, close attention will be paid to the development of bad conscience in religion.
