Uburyo : Delivering of a Sustainable System of Loans for Education : Volume I y II
Integrating a Grants Manager and an Employment Bureau Uburyo, a sustainable mini-loans system, will help academic institutions from developing countries to administrate subventions in order to grow economically and get more and more students
UBURYO: open source software for managing microcredits in education
One of the major problems in developing countries is minority access to higher education. Traditional scholarships usually focus on paying tuition fees for bringing brilliant students to developed countries (from where they seldom return). But local grants seldom target the more needy students. We propose a system of student loans to pay tuition fees in exchange for technical work. This appears to be a satisfactory and sustainable solution. We also provide UBURYO (a Kirundi word meaning opportunity). UBURYO is the free open source software, that we have developed, to manage this loan system in a simple, trustworthy, fair and efficient way
Current agriculture faces the challenge of satisfying both food and energy
demand while being environmental sustainable. The aim of the current work was to
characterize the variability of biomass yield and quality among cultivars of winter wheat
(Triticum aestivum L.) to be used as bioenergy feedstock. This knowledge will contribute
to idenify genes and biochemical features that will promote their utilization as second
generation (2G) biofuel feedstock. Agronomical traits and quality paremeters of biomass
from 36 cultivars were analyzed at Unidad Integrada Balcarce. Hugh variability both in
yield and quality has been detected for its utilization as 2G biofuels feedstock. Genotypes
combining high grain yield and biomass production and good quality attributes have been
indentified.Fil: Vera, Magdalena.

Evaluation of an application for managing microcredits in education
One of the major problems in developing countries is minority access to higher education. Traditional scholarships usually focus on paying eventually tuition fees or bringing brilliant students to develop countries. Additionally, these systems used to be opaque and, consequently, a corruption source. We propose a system of student loans to pay tuition fees in exchange for work. We also provide UBURYO. It is the FOSS, that we have developed, to manage this loan system in a simple, trustworthy, fair and efficient way. We deployed the loan system in the University of Ngozi (UNG, Burundi). A shallow evaluation demonstrates that system sustainability is feasible
An inquiry into the drivers of an entrepreneurial economy: A Bayesian clustering approach
Understanding the worldwide drivers of qualified entrepreneurship is a key issue in
economic policy design. To help policy decisions exert their intended impact, we
aim to cluster a wide range of countries on the basis of their levels and trends in selfemployment
productivity using a finite mixture model applied to a new large dataset
of 121 countries covering the period of 1991–2019. Our results point to three
groups of high-, medium-, and low-productive means and tendencies, the geographical
distribution of which suggests that they can be reinterpreted using the three
stages of economic development, namely, innovation-, efficiency-, and factor-driven
economies. Notably, we find that widespread digitalization and low unemployment
enhance the probability of transitioning into a highly productive cluster. However,
we failed to find that industry weight or employment protection legislation strictness
serve as determinants in the transition between groups. Suggestive rationales
for these results and implications for the entrepreneurship policy agenda are also
provided.Funding for open access publishing: Universidad de Huelva/CBUA. The authors acknowledge

In the social sciences there are many existing paradigms, throughout history, many thinkers have been given the task of generating positions that each one considers as ideal to understand certain situations, in some cases, for certain researchers, their points of view They are irreconcilable with others, however for others, this conjunction of points of view is possible, in this regard, there are not few who advocate the use of multiple paradigms to understand a particular situation. At the educational level, this unification of points of view also has its defenders. The purpose of this study is to generate a theoretical contribution, which serves as the basis for understanding the poly paradigm of research, and how it has become in modern educational studies. Some macro sociological, micro sociological, as well as integrative paradigms of sociology are analyzed. The particularities of the integrative paradigms are shown and arguments that support the greater use of poly-paradigmatic contexts in the educational area as a strategy to deepen the understanding of certain situations are presented.
AFRICA BUILD Portal: developing a social network of African health researchers and educators
One of the main outputs of the project is a collaborative platform which integrates a myriad of research and learning resources. This article presents the first prototype of this platform: the AFRICA BUILD Portal (ABP 1.0). The ABP is a Web 2.0 platform which facilitates the access, in a collaborative manner, to these resources. Through a usable web interface, the ABP has been designed to avoid, as much as possible, the connectivity problems of African institutions. In this paper, we suggest that the access to complex systems does not imply slow response rates, and that their development model guides the project to a natural technological transfer, adaptation and user acceptance. Finally, this platform aims to motivate research attitudes during the learning process and stimulate user?s collaborations
