CogCell: Cognitive Interplay between 60GHz Picocells and 2.4/5GHz Hotspots in the 5G Era

Rapid proliferation of wireless communication devices and the emergence of a variety of new applications have triggered investigations into next-generation mobile broadband systems, i.e., 5G. Legacy 2G--4G systems covering large areas were envisioned to serve both indoor and outdoor environments. However, in the 5G-era, 80\% of overall traffic is expected to be generated in indoors. Hence, the current approach of macro-cell mobile network, where there is no differentiation between indoors and outdoors, needs to be reconsidered. We envision 60\,GHz mmWave picocell architecture to support high-speed indoor and hotspot communications. We envisage the 5G indoor network as a combination of-, and interplay between, 2.4/5\,GHz having robust coverage and 60\,GHz links offering high datarate. This requires an intelligent coordination and cooperation. We propose 60\,GHz picocellular network architecture, called CogCell, leveraging the ubiquitous WiFi. We propose to use 60\,GHz for the data plane and 2.4/5GHz for the control plane. The hybrid network architecture considers an opportunistic fall-back to 2.4/5\,GHz in case of poor connectivity in the 60\,GHz domain. Further, to avoid the frequent re-beamforming in 60\,GHz directional links due to mobility, we propose a cognitive module -- a sensor-assisted intelligent beam switching procedure -- which reduces the communication overhead. We believe that the CogCell concept will help future indoor communications and possibly outdoor hotspots, where mobile stations and access points collaborate with each other to improve the user experience.Comment: 14 PAGES in IEEE Communications Magazine, Special issue on Emerging Applications, Services and Engineering for Cognitive Cellular Systems (EASE4CCS), July 201

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 Pandemic is an unprecedented humanitarian crisis that has affected the mental health of individuals immensely. OCD was among the mental health conditions that emerged with the new norm that is associated with repeated hand wash, social distancing and testing to confirm COVID-19. Nissen et al. (2020) found that there was a significant positive correlation between total OCD severity scores and the occurrence of OCD aggressive and sexual symptoms. [6] The COVID-19 lockdown translated into physical isolation, driving individuals to waste time online with no definite purpose, spending longer, abnormal durations of time online when bored, leading to increased consumption of online pornography. Since March 2020, during the lockdown period, Pornhub has seen a worldwide increase in pornography use of 11.6% compared to the previous average days. [9] CASE DESCRIPTION: A 21-year-old adult unmarried male student came to the Psychiatry Department with complains of fear of getting COVID-19, repetitive, uncontrolled viewing of pornography, sadness and sleep disturbances for the past 1 year. With informed consent detailed history and psychological assessment was carried out and it was confirmed to be a case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with porn addiction during the COVID-19 pandemic. CONCLUSION: OCD and Porn Addiction have emerged as major concern in COVID-19 pandemic related mental health disorders and youngsters should be screened for these conditions and appropriate treatment strategies should be devised in community care

Treatment of illnesses with plants and plant-based concentrates has been a vital piece of the tropical regions. With the progression of innovative work in medication, there has been an expansion in the consideration of plant-based concentrates and side-effects utilized in the treatment of numerous ailments, use of conventional medications for sicknesses are getting incorporated into present-day prescription technique alongside normal medicines. Every year inclusive, the treatment of dengue and Malaria consolidated expenses are around USD 20 Billion every year. This paper centers around the market potential in the plant-based treatment of Dengue and Malaria as the diverse plants utilized in the treatment are broadly well-known and are developed in nations like India, African nations, and Latin America. It additionally tosses light on the recent trends in dengue and Malaria, customary strategies for treatment, and Dengue in the present day

Modified electroconvulsive therapy as maintenance treatment

Depression is the most common psychiatric condition that significantly affects the quality of life of individual affected with it and it can present with various signs and symptoms. It usually presents with persistent and pervasive sadness of mood, anhedonia, sleep disturbance, reduced appetite, reduced concentration, multiple somatic symptoms, and suicidal thoughts. In this case report a 61-year-old gentleman presented with sadness of mood, loss of interest, sleep disturbance, multiple body aches, and abdominal pain which varied from 2 to 6 weeks. He had failed to respond to multiple classes of antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and antipsychotics. However, he would respond well to modified electroconvulsive therapy and he maintained well for 8-12 months before he had another episode. Since the patient responded well to modified electroconvulsive therapy and to reduce relapse maintenance-electroconvulsive therapy was considered

Depression Secondary to Isotretinoin – a Case Report

Depression is one of the leading causes of morbidity in the world and significantly affects the lives of people suffering from it. The exact cause of depression has not been established and it is believed to be a complex play between various social, biological, environmental, personal factors. A relatively rare but distinct cause includes pharmacological agents. In this case report, we describe the case of a 17-year-old girl who developed depression with psychotic symptoms on two occasions, both preceded by a history of Isotretinoin use. She was admitted and treated with anti-psychotics and psychotherapy with significant improvement in her mental state. There is no global consensus and direct scientific evidence establishing causality but many case reports are present in medical literature showing association between depression and Isotretinoin use. Therefore, it is important for clinicians to exercise caution when prescribing Isotretinoin to vulnerable groups
