A Folklore Litigation in the Novel Agnaadi by Poomani

    Get PDF
Nadar is a term used to describe the primitive manner of life of the human race. People's daily routines and customs are considered to be customs. An ethnic civilization is thought to have developed when customs alter over time and transform into cultural symbols. Every race still retains elements of its traditional dialects even after civilization has advanced. Poomani is regarded as one of the regional authors. He allows the writing to take on its own qualities by combining the aroma of the soil with the free-flowing energies of life. Through the short story ‘Aruppu’, he was introduced to the world of Tamil short stories. Poomani has the ability to write about rural life and aspects of ethnic culture. He wrote a book titled "Agnaadi" in 2012 after researching the history of the residents of Kalingal hamlet in Kovilpatti district. The book won the Sahitya Akademi Award in the year 2014 for its inventive ethnographic history and narrative.  The word Agngnaadi means' mother'. It is a term used by certain ethnic groups. In that way, Poomani’s Agnaadi which has recorded rural life has also recorded folk liturgies. This article examines the novel Agnaadi as a case of folklore litigation

Saiva devotees and Pancha Bhoota Temples Worship

    Get PDF
Devotional literature helped to spread the vegan and Vaishnava religions during the period when Palki was growing in Tamil literature. Devotional literature considered the Pancha Bhootas to be a form of deity. It is said that the Lord is the Panchaputra. In the Twelve Trimesters the messages that the Lord has the attributes of the five elements of land, water, air, fire, and sky are subtly highlighted. The Saiva devotees went to the Pancha Bhootas site and worshiped the Lord. These temples were the backdrop for the construction of the temples. The gist of this article is that it highlights the cults of the Saiva devotees in a way that illustrates the glories and specialties of each temple

Convolutional Neural Network based Bi-Diverse Activation for Skin Lesion Classification

Melanoma is the most genuine sort of skin malignancy. It is usually caused by high exposure to ultraviolet radiation and damages the skin, and forms pigmented melanin. Early identification of melanoma skin infection can expand the endurance rate. A dermatologist essentially follows a succession of steps for skin lesion appraisal, beginning with independent eye screening of skin lesions, at that point by dermoscopy and next by biopsy. Convolutional neural network manifest potential for better classification of skin lesions. Clinical assessment in dermoscopy images is a tedious errand to the dermatologists because of ancient rarities nearness. In this paper, the bi-diverse activation convolutional neural network model has been developed to classify the skin lesion as benign and malignant by applying different activation functions of the ReLU and Swish process. The proposed approach is tried on the ISIC dataset having an all outnumber of 2637 training parts, and 660 images of testing parts categorize into melanoma and benign skin lesion images. Our proposed model accomplishes empowering results having 84% exactnes

Tautomated Colorectal Lymphoma Volume Calculation Using 3d Mri Images

The third most prevalent cause of cancer death in the world is colorectal lymphoma (CL). Future disease burden predictions advise health planners and raise awareness about the need for action on cancer control. The lymphoma volume is usually estimated by means of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which analyses mutation during medical diagnosis at advanced stages. The precise segmentation of abnormal tissue and its correct 3D display is key to appropriate treatment. Here, there is an intention to build a smart diagnostic system based on the human MRI research. The suggested model presenting identification, Segmentation and 3D visualization method, offering medical specialists’ expertise an efficient way for the 3D reconstruction of colorectal lymphoma using medical image processing in two-dimensional magnetic resonance images. Here the rectal MR images are Preprocessed that can be done using the weighted adaptive median filtering and uplift laplacian partial differential equation for further enhancement. Followed by preprocessing the Iterative Multi-linear component analysis was used for extracting the features. The extracted features can be given as an input for the CNN based Multiscale phase level set segmentation process. In this suggested segmentation, the abnormal resection margin is automatically analyzed and shows that this is consistent with traditional segmentation algorithm. Finally, a 3D simulation of the lymphoma of the colon is accomplished using the logical frustum model used for medical data rendering. The feasibility of the method suggested is confirmed by the 98.7% accuracy of the Colon MRI dataset. A subjective comparative analysis between the proposed approach and other state of art methods is also carried out as out in the work mentioned. The findings of experiments show a higher performance of the system than conventional systems, which support radiologists in measuring lymphoma size, structure and position in the colon

Self-vacancies in Gallium Arsenide: an ab initio calculation

We report here a reexamination of the static properties of vacancies in GaAs by means of first-principles density-functional calculations using localized basis sets. Our calculated formation energies yields results that are in good agreement with recent experimental and {\it ab-initio} calculation and provide a complete description of the relaxation geometry and energetic for various charge state of vacancies from both sublattices. Gallium vacancies are stable in the 0, -, -2, -3 charge state, but V_Ga^-3 remains the dominant charge state for intrinsic and n-type GaAs, confirming results from positron annihilation. Interestingly, Arsenic vacancies show two successive negative-U transitions making only +1, -1 and -3 charge states stable, while the intermediate defects are metastable. The second transition (-/-3) brings a resonant bond relaxation for V_As^-3 similar to the one identified for silicon and GaAs divacancies.Comment: 14 page

Postbuckling Behaviour of Anisotropic Laminated Composite Plates due to Shear Loading

    Get PDF
This study investigates postbuckling behaviour of laminated composite plates using a nine-noded shear flexible quadrilateral plate element. The formulation includes nonlinear strain-displacement relation based on von Karman's assumption. The nonlinear governing equations are solved through iteration. A detailed parametric study is carried out to bring out the influence of ply-angle, aspect ratio and material properties on the postbuckling strength of laminates due to in-plane shear loads

A Study on Prognostic Significance of QTc Interval in the Initial ECG of OPC Poisoning Patients

BACK GROUND: Thanjavur being the rice bowl of Tamilnadu which is surrounded by numerous villages the use of pesticides particularly OPC are higher here. So it is a ideal place to study the clinical profile and prognostic factors in OPC poisoning. In OPC poison apart from respiratory failure, cardiotoxicity also plays a major part in determining the mortality. Though the exact pathophysiology has not been studied, we are analyzing one such manifestation of cardiotoxicity as a predictor of mortality. AIMS AND OBECTIVES: To calculate the QTc interval in the initial ECG before atropinization and to correlate with outcome of the patient. MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY: 70 Patients admitted in thanjavur medical college with history of OPC poisoning with container were taken for our study. Relevant Clinical examination done and recorded. A 12 lead ECG taken before treatment. QTc interval calculated using Bazzets formula. Results analysed statistically. RESULTS: Most of the patients in our study group are males with suicide being the common cause. In our place monochrotophos and chlorpyriphos are the common compounds encountered. We classified our group in to those having normal, intermediate and prolonged QTc. 62% had prolonged QTc interval. Among the total 12 death 9 (75%) belong to the group with prolonged QTc. There is a statistically significant difference in mortality. So QTc interval definitely has a significant prognostic value in OPC poisoning. CONCLUSION: So early detection of QTc prolongation in ECG and initiation of early intensive treatment for OPC poisoning may reduce the mortality
