Going beyond sustainability: A regenerative housing block for Oulu Housing Fair 2025

The construction industry currently follows the linear economy model, where natural resources are used in such a way that they become waste at the end of their life cycle. This traditional model prioritizes profit over ecology and has no concern for the ecological footprint and its consequences. The circular and linear systems differ from each other in the way the value of a product is created and maintained. With the goal of the circular economy, we try to close the loops of raw materials. The concept promotes sharing, reusing, repairing and recycling materials and products for as long as possible. Nowadays, sustainability in construction is a measure for current and future architectural design that aims to reduce the damage caused by excessive resource consumption. Rather than reducing environmental damage, we should learn to participate with the environment by using the quality of ecological systems as a basis for design. The premise of regenerative design is that everything we build has the potential to integrate the natural world into architecture as an equal partner. It goes beyond “sustainable” living and aims to re-build the environment. The project explores regenerative economy solutions in timber construction and aims to utilize them in a design of a housing block for the Oulu Housing Fair 2025 area. The work mainly focuses on architectural solutions that can be applied to the skins and roofs of the building. The aim of the background study is to explore examples of regenerative design solutions and to find out to what extent they can be implemented in contemporary housing and in particular in timber construction

    Healthy lifestyle: Philosophical dimension

Introduction. The article deals with the issue of “healthy lifestyle” as a multidimensional phenomenon that requires complexity in the research process, and also substantiates the need to overcome the limitations of private scientifi c methodology. Philosophical understanding of the problem of health and the phenomenon of a healthy lifestyle is carried out in the modern context of the development of knowledge. Theoretical analysis. To substantiate the integrity, the intellectual potential of the philosophical tradition is involved, a critical analysis of the one-dimensionality of natural-scientifi c ideas about the corporeality of a person is carried out. The multifunctionality of a healthy lifestyle and its integration into the cultural and mental basis of modern civilization are analyzed. The potential of the ideas of idealism, realism, pragmatism and existentialism for the study of the problem of education and human development is revealed. The valeological component of life and health of the population of the country is indicated. The author’s vision of the phenomenon of a healthy lifestyle, as one of the phenomena of social life, is proposed. The role of education in the formation of a healthy lifestyle of the younger generation is determined. The consequences of the application of body-oriented practices as a new direction of culture are shown. Conclusion. It is generalized that a healthy lifestyle is a safe state of human existence. The necessity of creating a philosophy of a healthy lifestyle is substantiated

This article presents a brief description of the active methodologies applied to promote meaningful learning for high school students. Therefore, the proposed objectives are to conceptualize active methodology, relate active methodologies to types of learning, identify the types of active methodology that can be used in high school. The methodological matrix is qualitative in nature, focusing on the type of bibliographic and documentary research. It is shown in the final considerations that the use of active methodologies in the classroom motivates students to improve their school performance, because they are able to relate the knowledge acquired with their daily activities of their social life. Thus, it is believed that active methodologies appropriate to the reality of students and, if well planned, are motivating and encourage students to participate in classes and provide a more dynamic and meaningful learning. Anti-myeloperoxidase antibodies attenuate the monocyte response to LPS and shape macrophage development

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) vasculitis is characterized by the presence of autoantibodies to myeloperoxidase and proteinase-3, which bind monocytes in addition to neutrophils. While a pathological effect on neutrophils is acknowledged, the impact of ANCA on monocyte function is less well understood. Using IgG from patients we investigated the effect of these autoantibodies on monocytes and found that anti-myeloperoxidase antibodies (MPO-ANCA) reduced both IL-10 and IL-6 secretion in response to LPS. This reduction in IL-10 and IL-6 depended on Fc receptors and enzymatic myeloperoxidase and was accompanied by a significant reduction in TLR-driven signaling pathways. Aligning with changes in TLR signals, oxidized phospholipids, which function as TLR4 antagonists, were increased in monocytes in the presence of MPO-ANCA. We further observed that MPO-ANCA increased monocyte survival and differentiation to macrophages by stimulating CSF-1 production. However, this was independent of myeloperoxidase enzymatic activity and TLR signaling. Macrophages differentiated in the presence of MPO-ANCA secreted more TGF-β and further promoted the development of IL-10- and TGF-β-secreting CD4(+) T cells. Thus, MPO-ANCA may promote inflammation by reducing the secretion of antiinflammatory IL-10 from monocytes, and MPO-ANCA can alter the development of macrophages and T cells to potentially promote fibrosis

Oil-water contact (OWC) justification is an important criteria for estimation of reserves and evaluation of deposits potential. The main factors that influence evaluation of hydrocarbon accumulation amount are as following: structural surfaces of reservoir top and bottom, effective thicknesses distribution along the thickness of studying reservoir and fluid contact position. In case first two factors are constant accumulation volume and distribution of oil net pay thicknesses in reservoir are controlled by correctly determined OWC. Determination of OWC position is associated with several challenges and mainly with limited initial data. In this paper regional forecast of OWC position was performed. The target of research was Bashkirian dome (its north end in Perm region). Bashkirian dome represents major characterized tectonic element. Accumulated data were generalized on the deposits of presented oil and gas plays (OGP) and resource analysis was performed. During the analysis of OWC position across the all objects of reserve estimation high uncertainty was determined. Statistical sample was the basis for determination of zonal rules and calculation of statistical model of regional OWC. Obtained regression equations take into account formation and tectonic features of Bashkirian dome, allow performing forecast of fluid contact position for more authentic evaluation of hydrocarbon resources of determined structures and specification of WOC in the reservoirs with relatively evaluated OWC that represent 50% from all deposits. Obtained equations help to determine position of OWC that has high uncertainty. Equations will represent additional basis for OWC justification during re-estimation of reserves and evaluation of resources while field exploration. That will increase geological model authenticity and decrease amount of issues during history matching of hydrodynamic model
