    Electromagnetic Transition Form Factors of Mesons

    Using a counting scheme which treats pseudoscalar and vector mesons on equal footing, the decays of the narrow light vector mesons omega and phi into a dilepton and a pseudoscalar pi-meson or eta-meson, respectively, are calculated. Thereby, all required parameters could be determined by other reactions so that one has predictive power for the considered decays.     CTMC calculations of electron capture and ionization in collisions of multiply charged ions with elliptical Rydberg atoms

    We have performed classical trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) studies of electron capture and ionization in multiply charged (Q=8) ion-Rydberg atom collisions at intermediate impact velocities. Impact parallel to the minor and to the major axis, respectively, of the initial Kepler electron ellipse has been investigated. The important role of the initial electron momentum distribution found for singly charged ion impact is strongly disminished for higher projectile charge, while the initial spatial distribution remains important for all values of Q studied.Comment: 3 pages, 5 figure

    Streptococcus equi spp. equi (SEE) causes a disease in horses commonly referred to as strangles. Carrier or reservoir equids are important for the maintenance of the bacteria between epizootics and the initiation of outbreaks on premises, they also make the control and prevention of the disease more difficult. Disease outbreaks are common in many countries, affecting negatively equine health and causing major economic losses to the equine industry. This review describes general aspects of the disease caused by SEE in horses (clinical signs, pathogenesis, epidemiology, treatment, complications) and then focuses on prevention, control and eradication mechanisms

    Stochastic pump of interacting particles

    We consider the overdamped motion of Brownian particles, interacting via particle exclusion, in an external potential that varies with time and space. We show that periodic potentials that maintain specific position-dependent phase relations generate time-averaged directed current of particles. We obtain analytic results for a lattice version of the model using a recently developed perturbative approach. Many interesting features like particle-hole symmetry, current reversal with changing density, and system-size dependence of current are obtained.     On the succinctness of query rewriting over shallow ontologies

    We investigate the succinctness problem for conjunctive query rewritings over OWL2QL ontologies of depth 1 and 2 by means of hypergraph programs computing Boolean functions. Both positive and negative results are obtained. We show that, over ontologies of depth 1, conjunctive queries have polynomial-size nonrecursive datalog rewritings; tree-shaped queries have polynomial positive existential rewritings; however, in the worst case, positive existential rewritings can be superpolynomial. Over ontologies of depth 2, positive existential and nonrecursive datalog rewritings of conjunctive queries can suffer an exponential blowup, while first-order rewritings can be superpolynomial unless NP �is included in P/poly. We also analyse rewritings of tree-shaped queries over arbitrary ontologies and note that query entailment for such queries is fixed-parameter tractable

    Polynomial conjunctive query rewriting under unary inclusion dependencies

    Ontology-based data access (OBDA) is widely accepted as an important ingredient of the new generation of information systems. In the OBDA paradigm, potentially incomplete relational data is enriched by means of ontologies, representing intensional knowledge of the application domain. We consider the problem of conjunctive query answering in OBDA. Certain ontology languages have been identified as FO-rewritable (e.g., DL-Lite and sticky-join sets of TGDs), which means that the ontology can be incorporated into the user's query, thus reducing OBDA to standard relational query evaluation. However, all known query rewriting techniques produce queries that are exponentially large in the size of the user's query, which can be a serious issue for standard relational database engines. In this paper, we present a polynomial query rewriting for conjunctive queries under unary inclusion dependencies. On the other hand, we show that binary inclusion dependencies do not admit polynomial query rewriting algorithms

    Multi-wavelength photometric variation of PG1605+072

    In a large coordinated attempt to further our understanding of the pp-mode pulsating sdB star PG1605+072, the Multi-Site Spectroscopic Telescope (MSST) collaboration has obtained simultaneous time-resolved spectroscopic and photometric observations. The photometry was extended by additional WET data which increased the time base. This contribution outlines the analysis of the MSST photometric light curve, including the four-colour BUSCA data from which chromatic amplitudes have been derived, as well as supplementary FUV spectra and light curves from two different epochs.     Querying Visible and Invisible Information

    We provide a wide-ranging study of the scenario where a subset of the relations in the schema are visible - that is, their complete contents are known - while the remaining relations are invisible. We also have integrity constraints (invariants given by logical sentences) which may relate the visible relations to the invisible ones. We want to determine which information about a query (a positive existential sentence) can be inferred from the visible instance and the constraints. We consider both positive and negative query information, that is, whether the query or its negation holds. We consider the instance-level version of the problem, where both the query and the visible instance are given, as well as the schema-level version, where we want to know whether truth or falsity of the query can be inferred in some instance of the schema
