Creation and Innovation of Study Programmes with Emphasis on the Needs of Labour Market and Knowledge Society
AbstractCreation of new study programmes follows introducing new products the perspective of which depends on the globalization growth and trends in economy, business activities and enterprises that is the assumption for the graduates to assert at the labour market. These activities are at the University of Zilina supported also by resources from the projects of the European Social Fund within the Operational Programme Education. The University of Zilina submitted and the employees are working at the project titled “Innovation and internationalization of education – tools of quality enhancement of the Zilina University in the European Education Area” that includes also the issues of study programmes creation and innovation at the selected faculties and departments. The aim is to enhance the quality of education at the Zilina University through development of innovative forms, attractive study materials and rationalization of study programmes. This paper is oriented on widening the offer of the university education at the Zilina University with emphasis on the needs of labour market and knowledge society
Experimental modelling of motor oil penetration in to the land with consequential interaction with powder sorbents
Traffic accidents related with the appearance of dangerous materials, i.e. escaping driving fuel
and car liquids, often happen on the Slovak roads. Most often, these are crude oil products as
diesel, gas and motor oil. Oil products undesirable in contaminations contaminate impacted
environment, especially soil, water and air. Units of Fire Department of the SR assisting
by the traffi c accident related with escaping of dangerous liquids make their identification,
localization and consistent liquidation by means of powder sorbents. Experimental modeling
of motor oil escaping into the soil with consistent interaction with powder absorbing materials
have a goal to achieve the minimization of negative impacts on environment
Assessment of Societal Vulnerability in Case of Power Failure in Rail Network
Vulnerability means the degree to which a reference object can withstand external or internal threats. The reference object can have a human, material character. The article will address the societal vulnerability due to a power failure in the rail network, and a specific event will be described in the form of a case study. Each part of the railway network, whether it be a depot, a station, a terminal, or others, is largely dependent on the supply of the electricity network to its functional elements in the system. To assess vulnerability, it should be quantified using available methods. Adequate measures must be taken to reduce vulnerability and a comprehensive protection system must be developed. These measures may be of organizational, methodological, or operational origin, but may also be a part of the system, such as subject protection, spatial protection, shell protection, or perimeter protection
Societal Vulnerability to Electricity Supply Failure
Today’s modern society depends on a number of infrastructures to operate. Failures in these systems
cause significant economic impacts and can also endanger the lives and health of the population. The
high importance of these infrastructures has led them to increasing attention in recent years and are
referred to as critical infrastructure. Critical infrastructure in the energy sector is considered to be one
of the most important infrastructure networks significantly entering into ensuring the functional
continuity of the society. Its importance is also perceived in terms of interconnections and correlations
with other critical infrastructure sectors as well as in terms of electricity interconnectivity in Europe,
as in the interconnected European system the effects are spreading across systems of all single country
transmission system operators very quickly. For these reasons, the European Union considers this
sector to be strategic and of European importance.
The aim of the article is to clarify the primary causes of disruption of large-scale electricity supply and
their impact on the functioning of society, focusing on the vulnerability of urbanized large settlements - urban
agglomerations in the event of long-lasting blackout disturbances. It contains a presentation of the
importance of electricity for society, definition and analysis of the causes of disruption of large-scale
electricity supply continuity, consequences of large-scale blackout on community functioning and its
basic functions and current knowledge on vulnerability of large urban agglomerations to long-term
disruption of electricity supply and possible solutions
Transport provision of animals evacuation
The negative impacts of emergency events affect the animals as well as the man. In case of emergency event the animals, unlike the man, have minimum chance to survive and majority of afflicted animals would perish without the human help. Animals´ evacuation to secure place is one of the form of animals´ protection against the effects of emergency events. Animals´ evacuation is the complex of legislative, organizing and logistic measures with aim to prevent their perishing and so eliminate possible occurrence of dangerous epidemiological situations and prevent damage occurrence. The animals' evacuation is generally controlled by evacuation commission, which uses "Animals Evacuation Plan". Time needed for the evacuated animal to leave the endangered place or stable is the next decisive factor of secure and speedy evacuation. All types of transport can be used for transport of evacuated animals from endangered place. Loading and unloading the animals is very important part of evacuation. During the transport the driver has to observe certain specific principles of security journey with respect to transported animals. Comprehensive animals evacuation is one of the conditions of their early rescue. Decisive role belongs to the man
POSSIBLE APPROACHES TO REDUCING BUSINESS RISK IN TRANSPORT ENTERPRISES
Snaha dopravných podnikov dosahovať kladné hospodárske výsledky ich núti diverzifikovať svoje aktivity a prichádzať s novými podnikateľskými zámermi, ktoré môžu byť zdrojom zisku. Efforts of transport companies to achieve positive economic results force them to diversify their activities and come up with new business plans that can be a source of profit. On the other hand, they must cope with a number of risks in business environment, that may endanger the success of their activities. If the transport company wants to succeed in the market, appropriate measures within risk management should be applied. This paper is dealing with mentioned issues
SAFETY OF TRANSPORTATION OF OVERSIZED AND EXCESSIVE LOADS
The paper is dealing with the issues of safety in planning and realization of oversized and excessive goods transportation. It points to the growing importance of these transportations for the economy of the state. Further it points to selected risks that could cause the emergency event during this transportation and possibilities of their elimination, which may lead to the increased safety of transportation of oversized and excessive loads

COMPONENTS OF RISK MANAGEMENT IN TRANSPORT COMPANY
Continuing problems of transport companies in consequence of financial and economic crisis are clear-cut evidence that risk management in transport companies plays a very important role to achieve long term competitiveness and profitability. The paper is dealing with business risks and risk management in transport companies
