Blackberry smartphone has become a popular brand among people and be the Top Brand in the Top Brand Index (TBI) in Indonesia. The Blackberry\u27s Top Brand Index is not followed by a good achievement, the Blackberry\u27s Top Brand Index from 2011 to 2013 is decreasing every year, If the decline is not quickly addressed, the blackberry smartphone brand can be plunge. Right now more and more smartphone brand is distributed in market and most likely will shift the blackberry smartphone\u27s popularity in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the effect of competitor\u27s product attractiveness, variety seeking behavior toward consumer loyalty through consumer satisfaction of Blackberry smartphone. This study is included in the explanatory research. Data collection techniques with accidental sampling method with a sample of 100. analyzes conducted qualitatively and quantitatively. Instrumental test using the validity test and reliability test. Quantitative data analysis using crosstab, product moment correlation, simple linear regression coefficient of determination, multiple regression, t test, F test, and path analysis. The results of this study indicate that the competitor\u27s product attractiveness and variety seeking behavior have significantly negative effect on consumer satisfaction partially and simultaneously, consumer satisfaction has significantly positive effect on consumer loyalty. Based on the path analysis, the independent variable competitor\u27s product attractiveness have a larger indirect impact on consumer loyalty and variety seeking behavior have a larger direct impact on consumer loyalty

Background: High blood pressure is a global public health problem. High blood pressure is called the “silent killer” because it often kills without warning signs or symptoms, and many people do not realize they have it. The world’s population is ageing. Virtually every country in the world is experiencing growth in the number and proportion of older persons in their population. The incidence of hypertension is greatest among older adults. This study aimed to determine factors associated with hypertension incidence among elderly in Puskesmas Padang Bulan, Medan, North Sumatera. Subjects and Method: This was a case control study conducted at Puskesmas (community health center) Padang Bulan, Medan, North Sumatera. A sample of 124 elderly persons was selected for this study, consisting of 62 persons with hypertension and 62 persons without hypertension. The dependent variable was hypertension. The independent variables were smoking, obesity, physical activity, fat diet, family history. Blood pressure was measured by sphygmomanometer. The other data were collected by questionnaire. The data were analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: Hypertension incidence increased with smoking (OR= 5.57; p= 0.007), obesity (OR= 5.30; p= 0.001), lack of physical activity (OR= 4.32; p= 0.001), high fat diet (OR= 5.21; p= 0.023), and family history (OR= 2.21; p= 0.001). Conclusion: The risk of hypertension in elderly increases with smoking, obesity, lack of physical activity, high fat diet, and family history. Keywords: hypertension, smoking, obesity, physical activity, fat diet, family history

Due to the importance of crude palm oil (CPO) in Indonesia economy, any policy elated to CPO industry should be comprehensively designed and analyzed its impacts on the industry and the economy as a whole. A scientific approach to designed and analyze policies is by simulating those policies into an economic model of the industry. In response to requirement, a study has been conducted to develop an International model of crude palm oil market. The model consists of 18 sub-models, that are, a world model, 16 individual or grouped country models, and an Indonesia model which is specified in relatively more detail. A general characteristic of the model is that the shot-term responses of production, consumption, export, and import toward the changes in CPO and competing oil prices are inelastic. Using the model and a time horizon of 1995-2000, production, consumption, export-import are projected to increase by 6.1, 5.0, and 4.1, percent, p.a., respectively. The price is projected to decline to be around US$ 415/ton in 200

Human-induced forest loss has had devastating impacts on biodiversity. Mammal populations in the tropics have been hit particularly hard by the resulting habitat loss, fragmentation and degradation, as well as by overhunting which often goes hand-in-hand. While declines in these populations are generally well documented, few studies offer a pathway for their recovery. Here, we test the association between changes in forest habitat and occupancy trends of Sumatran megafauna (elephant and tiger) and key tiger prey species (wild boar and sambar) in the Leuser Ecosystem: a large forest landscape on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. For elephant and tiger, we develop additional occupancy models to predict their respective spatial distribution under different scenarios of forest loss and gain (through restoration and increased connectivity) to provide a blueprint for avoiding future species loss and assisting with their population recovery. From 2000 to 2019, 254,722 ha (6.7%) of natural forest was converted, primarily to plantations and shrubs. The species-specific responses over the study period revealed that the occurrence of elephant declined along the west, with a range shift to the northeast of Leuser, whereas wild boar underwent a dramatic widespread decline and although sambar experienced losses around the forest edge, it remained widespread in the interior forest, while tiger occupancy remained stable. Modelling habitat loss and fragmentation led to an unsurprising demise of Sumatran megafauna, whereas strategic investments that reconnected several forest patches provided disproportionately large benefits for their recovery through the recolonization of former parts of their range. Indonesia has achieved six consecutive years of declining forest loss rates, and our study’s findings can build off this conservation success by supporting improved provincial spatial planning and field-based restoration efforts that avoid declines of threatened megafauna species and act as a catalyst for rewilding a landscape of global importance
