Turbulent Magnetic Reconnection in Two Dimensions

Two-dimensional numerical simulations of the effect of background turbulence on 2D resistive magnetic reconnection are presented. For sufficiently small values of the resistivity ($\eta$) and moderate values of the turbulent power ($\epsilon$), the reconnection rate is found to have a much weaker dependence on $\eta$ than the Sweet-Parker scaling of $\eta^{1/2}$ and is even consistent with an $\eta-$independent value. For a given value of $\eta$, the dependence of the reconnection rate on the turbulent power exhibits a critical threshold in $\epsilon$ above which the reconnection rate is significantly enhanced.Comment: Accepted to MNRA

Os autores descrevem um caso de um doente com uma neoplasia da bexiga inoperável, internado por um quadro de síncope e hipotensão arterial. Na avaliação do doente é efectuado um ecocardiograma que mostra a existência de um trombo livre ao nível das cavidades direitas e dilatação das mesmas que levou à hipótese diagnóstica de embolia pulmonar. Perante a existência de uma neoplasia com hemorragia recente, algumas dúvidas terapêuticas surgiram, tendo sido iniciado heparina. Devido a agravamento da situação, com hipertensão pulmonar grave e presença de volumosos trombos ao nível de ambos os ramos da artéria pulmonar visualizados por ecocardiografia transesofágica, o doente acabou por ser submetido a trombólise, embora com algumas alterações ao esquema habitualmente realizado. O doente melhorou, sendo o ecocardiograma final normal

Encouraging the return to museums through the through enriching of the experience and the feeling of pride

The aim of the current study is to investigate the effect of museum experiences on visitors' willingness to recommend a museum and desire to return, based on the influence of the perception of coolness and the feeling of authentic pride. A sample of 308 usable questionnaires retrieved from four Lisbon (Portugal) museums provide a good understanding of the drivers of revisit and recommend intentions. Museum Atmospheric Cues contribute to the perception of Museum Coolness and the feeling of Authentic Pride, which, in turn, have an effect on the intentions to Recommend and Revisit a museum. Acculturation and overseas assignments: A review and research agenda

This review analyzes two streams of literature that are exploring a similar phenomenon from separate perspectives and only recently have they began to overlap; that of migrant acculturation (from the psychology, sociology and anthropology research) and international assignee adjustment (from the international business research stream). We conducted a multiple correspondence analysis on a sample of 389 articles to provide the intellectual structure of the research in these fields. Our research indicates that: 1) the standard 2x2 matrix of acculturation is insufficient; 2) most past research focuses on USA to other countries and vice versa, suggesting there is much work left to explore other pairs of cultures ("there and back again" is not the same globally); 3) as global organizations are dominating the marketplace with many various staffing forms, variables such as corporate culture and management interaction will need to be incorporated; 4) research needs to include dynamics over time as many individuals who have worked outside of their home country often become multi-cultural with a global mindset and the typical acculturation framework is insufficient; 5) past acculturation research focuses on the work or the sociocultural context separately, while both need to be included; 6) and the extended family (parents, relatives, close friends, etc.) need to be considered

Agricultural cooperatives have been restructuring, by way of mergers, acquisitions, joint-ventures, and strategic alliances, to increase efficiencies to remain competitive in a changing business environment. The research evaluating the reorganization of cooperatives has revealed that less than one-half of the restructured businesses are financially successful. There is the potential to significantly influence the future health of the cooperative business sector if, first, insights can be gained concerning the factors being considered by cooperative managers when making restructuring decisions and, second, extension education programs can be adapted to meet the greatest need. Are they sisters?: Using text mining approach to understand perceptions about Madeira and Bermuda

The current study explores how tourists perceive two islands with identical culture, but different demographic characteristics. Two complementary methodologies are employed: Netnography and Text Mining. Eight encodings are used based on the literature: Rating, Categories, Membership Level of reviewers, Language type, Tourism Experience Model, Content, and Symbology and Positive/Negative information. With the first methodology, all encodings are analyzed, while in the Text Mining, only three: TEM, ML and categories. Customer satisfaction is slightly superior in Madeira. Lifestyle and Leisure and Tourism, Travel and Commuting are the main themes. Reviewers are engaged with the destinations and the re-purchase scenario is highly probable

ARPES Study of the Metal-Insulator Transition in Bismuth Cobaltates

We present an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) study of a Mott-Hubbard-type bismuth cobaltate system across a metal-insulator transition. By varying the amount of Pb substitution, and by doping with Sr or Ba cation, a range of insulating to metallic properties is obtained. We observe a systematic change in the spectral weight of the coherent and incoherent parts, accompanied by an energy shift of the incoherent part. The band dispersion also shows the emergence of a weakly dispersing state at the Fermi energy with increasing conductivity. These changes correspond with the changes in the temperature-dependent resistivity behavior. We address the nature of the coherent-incoherent parts in relation to the peak-dip-hump feature seen in cuprates superconductors
