. Csaba Pribenszky obtained a DVM degree in 1998 and a PhD degree in 2005, in the field of assisted reproductive technologies, in Budapest, Hungary. Together with Mikos Molnar, he developed and patented the concept of 'stress for stress tolerance': utilizing sublethal hydrostatic pressure stress treatment to gametes, embryos, other cells and tissues in order to improve cell survival during subsequent ART procedures (e.g. cryopreservation). His current focuses are the application of the above method at the vitrification of stem cells and human oocytes, and the effects of different environmental factors on the in vitro embryo developmental dynamics and fragmentation. Abstract Appropriate selection of a single blastocyst for transfer decreases the risk of multiple gestations. By using a compact time-lapse microscope system placed inside a regular incubator, combined with a microwell embryo culture dish, the development of all the embryos from a patient was continuously monitored by obtaining images at 10 min intervals. The embryos were not moved during the time-lapse observation. The system was switched off completely between image acquisitions in order to avoid exposure to electromagnetic radiation. The analysis of time-lapse records was used to choose a single blastocyst for transfer, which resulted in a singleton pregnancy and birth of a healthy boy on term. RBMOnlin

| Resulting from our research in international cooperation basic elements of the philosophy in 1670-1730 became accessible in Hungarian. One of these elements was Descartes’ theory of passion with his substantialist concept of the human being, and the later Cartesian philosophy of mind, logics and theory of art. Another culminating point was Leibniz, whose thought was presented in a monograph, his essays appeared in an anthology, his Theodicy has been translated. His discussion partner was Toland, and with him the main figure of the Deists appeared in Hungarian too. Their concept of philosophy influenced greatly the German Enlightenment, the philosophical profile of which was presented by the translating of a monograph, just like the first crossing of the ways of philosophy and history in the development of the footnote and in Vico, whose important essay was translated and published. Conferences were organized on Pascal’s reception in our period, and on the philosophy of emotion of philosophizing women. Special accent was laid on the deep connections of the seemingly individualistic 17th century philosophy to the scientific, political and theological forms of communities as well as to their unity, the utopias. To sum it up: beyond man as a cognizing but at the same time passionate individual we presented also man as member of traditional and new communities and as a being who explores the boundaries of the human sphere via traditional and new – “natural” – theologies

Investigation of the Antiremodeling Effects of Losartan, Mirabegron and Their Combination on the Development of Doxorubicin-Induced Chronic Cardiotoxicity in a Rat Model

Despite the effectiveness of doxorubicin (DOXO) as a chemotherapeutic agent, dose-dependent development of chronic cardiotoxicity limits its application. The angiotensin-II receptor blocker losartan is commonly used to treat cardiac remodeling of various etiologies. The beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonist mirabegron was reported to improve chronic heart failure. Here we investigated the effects of losartan, mirabegron and their combination on the development of DOXO-induced chronic cardiotoxicity. Male Wistar rats were divided into five groups: (i) control; (ii) DOXO-only; (iii) losartan-treated DOXO; (iv) mirabegron-treated DOXO; (v) losartan plus mirabegron-treated DOXO groups. The treatments started 5 weeks after DOXO administration. At week 8, echocardiography was performed. At week 9, left ventricles were prepared for histology, qRT-PCR, and Western blot measurements. Losartan improved diastolic but not systolic dysfunction and ameliorated SERCA2a repression in our DOXO-induced cardiotoxicity model. The DOXO-induced overexpression of Il1 and Il6 was markedly decreased by losartan and mirabegron. Mirabegron and the combination treatment improved systolic and diastolic dysfunction and significantly decreased overexpression of Smad2 and Smad3 in our DOXO-induced cardiotoxicity model. Only mirabegron reduced DOXO-induced cardiac fibrosis significantly. Mirabegron and its combination with losartan seem to be promising therapeutic tools against DOXO-induced chronic cardiotoxicity
