Associated production of light gravitinos in e^+e^- and e^-\gamma collisions
Light gravitino productions in association with a neutralino (selectron) in
e^+e^- (e^-\gamma) collisions are restudied in a scenario that the lightest
supersymmetric particle is a gravitino and the produced neutralino (selectron)
promptly decays into a photon (electron) and a gravitino. We explicitly give
the helicity amplitudes for the production processes by using the effective
goldstino interaction Lagrangian, and present the cross sections with different
collision energies and mass spectra. We also examine selection efficiencies by
kinematical cuts and beam polarizations for the signal and background
processes, and show that the energy and angular distributions of the photon
(electron) can explore the mass of the t-channel exchange particle as well as
the mass of the decaying particle at a future e^+e^- (e^-\gamma) collider.Comment: 12 pages, 12 figures, 4 tables; references added, version to appear

Transvaginal color Doppler assessment of venous flow in adnexal masses
Objective To analyze the usefulness of transvaginal color
Doppler assessment of venous flow in the differential diagnosis
of adnexal masses.
Material and Methods Ninety-one consecutive patients
(mean age: 46.6 years, range: 16–81 years) diagnosed as
having an adnexal mass were evaluated by transvaginal color
Doppler sonography prior to surgery. Color Doppler was
used to detect and analyze the flow velocity waveform from
arterial and venous blood flow within the tumor. For arterial
signals the resistance index and peak systolic velocity, and for
veins the maximum venous flow velocity, were calculated.
Receiver operator characteristic curves were plotted to
determine the best venous flow velocity cut-off. According
to our previous study using arterial Doppler, a tumor was
considered as malignant when flow was detected and the
lowest resistance index was ≤ 0.45. Using venous Doppler a
mass was considered as malignant when flow was detected
and the venous flow velocity was ≥ the best cut-off found
on the receiver operator characteristic curve. Definitive
histopathological diagnosis was obtained in all cases. Sensitivity,
specificity, positive predictive value and negative
predictive value for B-mode morphology (evaluation performed
according to Sassone’s scoring system), arterial
Doppler, venous Doppler, and a combination of both arterial
and venous Doppler were calculated.
Results Twenty-five masses (27.5%) were malignant and 66
(72.5%) benign. Arterial and venous flow was found more
frequently in malignant than in benign masses (92% vs. 41%
(P < 0.001) and 72% vs. 21% (P < 0.001), respectively).
The resistance index was significantly lower in malignant
tumors (0.42 vs. 0.60, P = 0.0003). No differences were
found in peak systolic velocity. Venous flow velocity was
significantly higher in malignant masses (18.1 cm/s vs.
8.9 cm/s, P = 0.0006). The best cut-off of venous flow
velocity was 10 cm/s. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive
value and negative predictive value for morphology,
arterial Doppler, venous Doppler, and the combination of
both arterial and venous Doppler were 92%, 71%, 45%,
96%; 76%, 95%, 87%, 91%; 68%, 94%, 81%, 89%; and
88%, 91%, 79%, 95%, respectively.
Conclusions Our results indicate that preoperative evaluation
by venous flow assessment of adnexal masses may be useful
to discriminate between malignant and benign tumors
Spatial effects on rural commerce
Commerce in rural territories should not be considered as a needed service, but as a basic infrastructure, that impact not only existent population, but also tourism, and rural industrialization. So, the rural areas need not only agriculture but industry and services, to have a global and balanced development, including for the countryside and the population. In the work presented in this paper, we are considering the formulation of the direct relation between population and the endowment of commerce sites within a geographical territory, the ?area of commercial interactions?. These are the closer set of towns that can gravitate to each other to cover the required needs for the populations within the area. The products retailed, range from basic products for the daily lives, to all other products for industry, agriculture, and services. The econometric spatial model developed to evaluate the interactions and estimate the parameters, is based on the Spatial Error Model, which allows for other spatial hidden effects to be considered without direct interference to the commercial disposition. The data and territory used to test the model correspond to a rural area in the Spanish Palencia territory (NUTS-3 level). The parameters have dependence from population levels, local rent per head, local and regional government budgets, and particular spatial restrictions. Interesting results are emerging form the model. The more significant is that the spatial effects can replace some number of commerce sites in towns, given the right spatial distribution of the sites and the towns. This is equivalent to consider the area of commercial interactions as the unit of measurement for the basic infrastructure and not only the towns

Este trabajo pretende investigar como se comporta un modelo de crecimiento del empleo en un territorio geográficamente cerrado considerando tanto su vertiente espacial, y el efecto de rebosamiento espacial de la variable endógena de empleo, como su vertiente temporal considerando el comportamiento de las variables empleo y recursos en diferentes ejercicios económicos sucesivos. Esto último permite incorporar el efecto de relación temporal entre las
variables permitiendo derivar otros indicadores temporales que según el modelo faciliten una explicación del comportamiento del empleo en el tiempo. Para evaluar el modelo se ha tomado como piloto una subcomarca de acentuado carácter rural de Palencia, y se ha utilizado la modelación SUR Espacial
Techno-Economic Feasibility Analysis through Optimization Strategies and Load Shifting in Isolated Hybrid Microgrids with Renewable Energy for the Non-Interconnected Zone (NIZ) of Colombia
In developing countries, electrification in remote areas, where access to energy is limited or null, has been one of the biggest challenges in recent years. Isolated microgrids with renewable generation are an efficient alternative for the energy supply in these areas. The objective of this work was to analyse the techno-economic viability of 6 isolated microgrids in different locations in the non-interconnected zone of Colombia, considering different climatic conditions, the availability of renewable resources, the current consumption profile, and a modified profile applying demand-side management. Modelling and simulation were performed considering storage systems based on lithium and lead-acid batteries. The resulting simulations provide the optimal system cost, emissions levels, electricity cost and battery lifetime. This study demonstrates that isolated hybrid microgrids with renewable energy are a feasible alternative to solve access to energy problems, reducing the need for diesel generators and optimizing the use of renewable energies and battery-based storage systems
Estimating Degradation Costs for Non-Cyclic Usage of Lithium-Ion Batteries
Estimating the degradation costs of lithium-ion batteries is essential to the designs of many systems because batteries are increasingly used in diverse applications. In this study, cyclic and calendar degradation models of lithium batteries were considered in optimization problems with randomized non-cyclic batteries use. Such models offer realistic results. Electrical, thermal, and degradation models were applied for lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide (NMC) and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technologies. Three possible strategies were identified to estimate degradation costs based on cell models. All three strategies were evaluated via simulations and validated by comparing the results with those obtained by other authors. One strategy was discarded because it overestimates costs, while the other two strategies give good results, and are suitable for estimating battery degradation costs in optimization problems that require deterministic models
Anomaly-Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking with Axion
We construct hadronic axion models in the framework of the anomaly-mediated
supersymmetry breaking scenario. If the Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking is
related to the supersymmetry breaking, mass spectrum of the minimal
anomaly-mediated scenario is modified, which may solve the negative slepton
mass problem in the minimal anomaly-mediated model. We find several classes of
phenomenologically viable models of axion within the framework of the anomaly
mediation and, in particular, we point out a new mechanism of stabilizing the
axion potential. In this class of models, the Peccei-Quinn scale is related to
the messenger scale. We also study phenomenological aspects of this class of
models. We will see that, in some case, the lightest particle among the
superpartners of the standard-model particles is stau while the lightest
superparticle becomes the axino, the superpartner of the axion. With such a
unique mass spectrum, conventional studies of the collider physics and
