Inert extension of the Zee model
AbstractWe propose a simple extension of the Zee model in order to solve the dark matter issue. It is achieved by adding one generation of two vectorlike leptons and introducing an exact Z2 symmetry. We establish the parameter space that is consistent with the constraints coming from lepton flavor violation processes, neutrino oscillation and dark matter
Charged lepton flavor violation and electric dipole moments in the inert Zee model
The inert Zee model is an extension of the Zee model for neutrino masses to
allow for a solution to the dark matter problem that involves two vector-like
fields, a doublet and a singlet of , and two scalars, also a doublet
and a singlet of , all of them being odd under an exact
symmetry. The introduction of the guarantees one-loop neutrino masses,
forbids tree-level Higgs-mediated flavor changing neutral currents and ensures
the stability of the dark matter candidate. Due to the natural breaking of
lepton numbers in the inert Zee model and encouraged by the ambitious
experimental program designed to look for charged lepton flavor violation
signals and the electron electric dipole moment, we study the phenomenology of
the processes leading to these kind of signals, and establish which are the
most promising experimental perspectives on that matter.Comment: 10 pages and 7 figure
Singlet-doublet Dirac fermion dark matter from Peccei-Quinn symmetry
Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) and axions are arguably the most
compelling dark matter (DM) candidates in the literature. Here, we consider a
model where the PQ symmetry solves the strong CP problem, generates radiatively
Dirac neutrino masses, and gives origin to multicomponent dark sector.
Specifically, scotogenic Dirac neutrino masses arise at one-loop level. The
lightest fermionic mediator acts as the second DM candidate due to a residual
symmetry resulting from the PQ symmetry breaking. The WIMP DM component
resembles the well-known singlet-doublet fermion DM. While the lower WIMP dark
mass region is usually excluded, our model reopens that portion of the
parameter space (for DM masses below GeV). Therefore, we perform
a phenomenological analysis that addresses the constraints from direct searches
of DM, neutrino oscillation data, and charged lepton flavor violating (LFV)
processes. The model can be tested in future facilities where DM annihilation
into SM particles is searched for by neutrino telescopes.Comment: 27 pages, 6 figures and 2 table
Talking football:Discourses about race/ethnicity amongst Spanish youth
It is commonly accepted that sports media and televised football in particular are sites where ideas about race/ethnicity are (re)produced. However, less is known about how audiences deal with these messages: do they assume these ideas are true or do they negotiate them and if so, how? Using cultural studies as our theoretical framework, we conducted 14 focus groups among Spanish youth and asked them to reflect on ideas about race/ethnicity while talking about football. Results show that interviewees had difficulty in talking about race/ethnicity and that they not only reproduced dominant discourses about race/ethnicity but also negotiated other discourses. Interviewees also described Spanish sports media as sensationalistic and money driven
