Els Mamífers marins i els seus noms

Al món hi ha al voltant de 120 espècies de mamífers marins pertanyents als grups dels cetacis, sirènids i pinnípedes. N'hi ha que tenen un nom català tradicional perquè són presents a les nostres aigües o perquè són importants en la cultura popular, i per a la resta han estat proposats diversos noms. En aquest treball s'ha intentat recopilar-los, identificar-ne les espècies i comentar alguns casos particulars de confusions o migració. Es presenta la llista completa d'espècies amb els noms catalans detectats, al voltant de 300, i les fonts bibliogràfiques.There are about 120 species of marine mammals in the world including cetaceans, sirenidae and pinnipedia. Some of them have a traditional Catalan name due to their presence in our waters or their importance in popular culture. For the rest several names have been proposed. This paper attempts to collect all of them, identify the species and discuss some particular cases of confusion or name migration. The complete list of species, their Catalan names, around 300, and bibliographic sources is presented

Present i futur de la pesca

L'explotació dels recursos pesquers mostra a escala mundial un estat preocupant de sobreexplotació. A la seva escala, la pesca a Catalunya mostra símptomes semblants. La sobrepesca és un fenomen generalitzat i complex relacionat amb les característiques pròpies de la pesca com a recurs natural autorenovable que forma part d'un ecosistema, i està sotmès, per tant, a uns condicionants indefugibles menats per la dinàmica de la natura. L'explotació pesquera és governada per la tecnologia, l'economia i el mercat, que, en les condicions històriques que s'han esdevingut, han portat a la sobrepesca d'avui. S'estudia la dinàmica del recurs, el procés de sobrepesca, la possible recuperació i les eines per assolir- la. S'analitza el futur de la pesca, incloent l'aqüicultura com a possible alternativa, i els fenòmens ambientals, en particular l'escalfament global, com a condicionants futurs. La conclusió és que cal emprendre accions per gestionar correctament el recurs pesquer o la humanitat es veurà abocada a un problema de subministrament de peix.Fisheries, present and future. We conclude that actions are needed to properly manage the fishery resources, otherwise humanity will be doomed to a problem of fish supply
