    Breach procedure for axillary hyperhidrosis.

Dear Editor, We read with interest the communication on ‘A simple and practical method for axillary osmidrosis resection’ by Liu X, Mao T, Lei Z, Fan D appeared on JPRAS 2009.1 We found the description of the technique very useful with the support of intra-operative pictures. The use of artery clips to evert the skin flaps can be easily reproduced. However it is surprising that the Authors did not consider and mention in the References a paper by Mr N Breach appeared in the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the late 70ies,2 when he was Senior Registrar at the Plastic Surgery Department of the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, UK. Since then this latter procedure for surgical treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis has been widely adopted, [3], [4] and [5] especially in the Western world and in the UK where is known as the ‘Breach’ procedure. The main difference with the technique described in the paper by Liu X et al. consists in the number of incisions that has now been minimized

Extending the range of the inductionless magnetorotational instability

The magnetorotational instability (MRI) can destabilize hydrodynamically stable rotational flows, thereby allowing angular momentum transport in accretion disks. A notorious problem for MRI is its questionable applicability in regions with low magnetic Prandtl number, as they are typical for protoplanetary disks and the outer parts of accretion disks around black holes. Using the WKB method, we extend the range of applicability of MRI by showing that the inductionless versions of MRI, such as the helical MRI and the azimuthal MRI, can easily destabilize Keplerian profiles ~ 1/r^(3/2) if the radial profile of the azimuthal magnetic field is only slightly modified from the current-free profile ~ 1/r. This way we further show how the formerly known lower Liu limit of the critical Rossby number, Ro=-0.828, connects naturally with the upper Liu limit, Ro=+4.828.Comment: Growth rates added, references modified; submitted to Physical Review Letter

In my article “On Liu Chieh\u27s Fish and Water Plants”, published in No. 240 of this journal, the following error should be corrected. The seal, examined by X-ray photograph, was deciphered as reading “Liu Chieh”. Actually it reads, T\u27i Ch‘ing Kuang 題清光. However, judging from a copy of Liu Chieh\u27s work done by Kano Tanyu, who incorporated the two seals, we know that the artist used both the “Liu Chieh” seal and the“T\u27i Ch\u27ing Kuang” seal. Indeed, this very fact would seem to add weight to the view that both paintings of “Fish and Water Plants” studied in No. 240, are truly the works of Liu Chieh
