Analysis of the dynamic response of a long span bridge using GPS/accelerometer/anemometer under typhoon loading
Large flexible engineering structures, such as long span bridges or tall buildings, are susceptible to quasistatic and dynamic deformations caused by different loadings, thus accurate displacement measurements are desirable to assess the integrity and reliability of the structure. In this study, an integrated system that includes Global Positioning System (GPS), accelerometer and anemometer was developed to obtain the responses of a long span bridge to the extreme wind loadings. Spectral analysis based on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm was first carried out to detect the dominant frequencies of the middle pylon. Then the noisy GPS displacement measurements and accelerometer data are de-noised using the Vondrak filter, and the low frequency disturbance was separated from GPS displacement time series. A least-squares based displacement reconstruction scheme using noise-mitigated accelerations was employed, and the Tikhonov regularization scheme with optimal selected regularization factor was used to alleviate the ill-posedness. At last, an adaptive recursive least squares (RLS) filter was adopted to separate the slow-varying movements, and the total displacement with enhanced measurement accuracy was obtained from the combined quasi-static and high-frequency dynamic displacements. A field monitoring data set collected on the Erqi Yangtze River Bridge, a three-tower cable-stayed bridge located in Wuhan, China, was used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed integration processing scheme. The GPS/accelerometer/anemometer installed on the center supporting tower was used to characterize the interaction between the responses and the ambient wind loadings. The results demonstrate the proposed technique can significantly improve the measurement accuracy of pylon displacement under strong winds. The deformation accuracy with the amplitude of several millimeters can be successfully detected, and the spectrum of the pylon response obtained from both GPS data and accelerometer data reveals the identified first dominant frequency of the middle pylon is 0.172 Hz
The mutual benefits from Sino-Africa trade: Evidence on emission transfer along the global supply chain
The carbon-emission transfer between two representative developing economies - China and Africa - behind the international trade has aroused quite a few controversies, which have not been fully estimated and understood yet. In this paper, the Multiregional Input-Output (MRIO) method is applied to the participants of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) from the global perspective to reveal the roles both China and Africa have played in the global supply chain as either the original emitter or the final consumer, and to depict the evolution pattern of carbon transfer via Sino-Africa trade from the year 2000–2015. The findings are as follows: 1) China has played the role of net exporter of embodied carbon-emission in Sino-Africa trade, for the amount of emitted carbon China had born yet resulted by consumption in Africa well surpassed that vice versa. 2) Compared to the carbon-emission flows embodied in EU-Africa and US-Africa trades, China has shouldered more carbon-emission derived from Africa's consumption. 3) The sectoral contribution and intensities of embodied carbon-emission correspond to the trading pattern between China and Africa, which stems from the two parties' comparative advantages and economic complementarity. 4) The intensities of embodied carbon-emission on both sides are declining towards a rosy prospect, which indicates an improving carbon-emission efficiency of both economies. From a global perspective, both China and Africa play a positive part in carbon-emission reduction. The results in this study can facilitate low-carbon and high-efficiency trading link between the two economies
Design of Damping Damping Design of New Boring Head Drive Structure
This paper takes the boring head of 20 roll mill as the research object, optimizes the vibration inside the boring head through a differential damping structure, and then conducts the 3 d model inside the boring head through SolidWorks, and checks the interference of the boring head model. Finally, Ansys workbench finite element analysis software is used to analyze and verify the vibration damping characteristics of the differential damping structure
A facile approach to fabricate highly sensitive, flexible strain sensor based on elastomeric/graphene platelet composite film
This work developed a facile approach to fabricate highly sensitive and flexible polyurethane/graphene platelets composite film for wearable strain sensor. The composite film was fabricated via layer-by-layer laminating method which is simple and cost-effective; it exhibited outstanding electrical conductivity of 1430 ± 50 S/cm and high sensitivity to strain (the gauge factor is up to 150). In the sensor application test, the flexible strain sensor achieves real-time monitoring accurately for five bio-signals such as pulse movement, finger movement, and cheek movement giving a great potential as wearable-sensing device. In addition, the developed strain sensor shows response to pressure and temperature in a certain region. A multifaceted comparison between reported flexible strain sensors and our strain sensor was made highlighting the advantages of the current work in terms of (1) high sensitivity (gauge factor) and flexibility, (2) facile approach of fabrication, and (3) accurate monitoring for body motions

The TRX consists of two individually-optimized RF front-ends for each band and one shared power-scalable analog baseband. The sub-GHz receiver has achieved the maximum 75 dBc 3rd-order harmonic rejection ratio (HRR3) by inserting a Q-enhanced notch filtering RF amplifier (RFA). In 2.4 GHz band, a single-ended-to-differential RFA with gain/phase imbalance compensation is proposed in the receiver. A ΣΔ fractional-N PLL frequency synthesizer with two switchable Class-C VCOs is employed to provide the LOs. Moreover, the integrated multi-mode PAs achieve the output P1dB (OP1dB) of 16.3 dBm and 14.1 dBm with both 25% PAE for sub-GHz and 2.4 GHz bands, respectively. A power-control loop is proposed to detect the input signal PAPR in real-time and flexibly reconfigure the PA's operation modes to enhance the back-off efficiency. With this proposed technique, the PAE of the sub-GHz PA is improved by x3.24 and x1.41 at 9 dB and 3 dB back-off powers, respectively, and the PAE of the 2.4 GHz PA is improved by x2.17 at 6 dB back-off power. The presented transceiver has achieved comparable or even better performance in terms of noise figure, HRR, OP1dB and power efficiency compared with the state-of-the-art.Peer reviewe
