    Tooth Contact Shift in Loaded Spiral Bevel Gears

    An analytical method is presented to predict the shifts of the contact ellipses of spiral bevel gear teeth under load. The contact ellipse shift is the motion of the tooth contact position from the ideal pitch point to its location under load. The shifts are due to the elastic motions of the gear and pinion supporting shafts and bearings. The calculations include the elastic deflections of the gear shafts and the deflections of the four shaft bearings. The method assumes that the surface curvature of each tooth is constant near the unloaded pitch point. Results from these calculations will help designers reduce transmission weight without seriously reducing transmission performance

    An approach is proposed for computerized simulation of meshing of aligned and misaligned involute helical gears. Algorithms for TCA (Tooth Contact Analysis) computer programs were developed.     The aim of the work: to improve the results of surgical treatment of secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic renal failure in treatment of chronic hemodialysis. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted on the basis of examination of medical records and 89 patients treated at the Department of Nephrology, City Clinical Hospital No. 2, Kryvyi Rih for 2014–2018. All patients were treated CKI using dialysis methods. Among the patients of group 1 66 (74.2 %) patients were on hemodialysis (HD), the group 2 – 23 (25.8 %) on peritonal dialysis (PD). In both groups, men predominated by sex: 49 (55.1 %) and 40 (44.9 %), respectively. The mean age of patients in group 1 with PD was (35±6.4) years, group 2 – with PD – (43±12.4). The mean dialysis period in group 1 was (9.6±2.3) years, in group 2 – (5.4±3.7). Results and Discussion. Among the main criteria for the surgical treatment of hypeparathyroidism in dialysis patients, clinical, laboratory, and instrumental indicators were identified.Цель работы: определение распространенности гиперпаратиреоза у пациентов с хронической почечной недостаточностью (ХПН), проходивших лечение с использованием диализных технологий и анализ результатов его хирургического лечения. Материалы и методы.  Исследование проведено на основе изучения медицинской документациии 89 пациентов, которые лечились в отделение нефрологии городской клинической больницы № 2 города Кривого Рога за 2014–2018 гг. Все пациенты проходили лечение ХПН с применением диализных методов. Среди пациентов первой группы 66 (74,2 %) больных были на гемодиализе (ГД), второй – 23 (25,8 %) на перитонеальном диализе (ПД). В обеих группах преобладали мужчины: соответственно 49 (55,1 %) и 40 (44,9 %) – женщины.  Средний возраст пациентов первой группы по ГД составлял (35 ± 6,4) года, второй с ПД – 43 ± 12,4. Средний срок диализа в первой группе составлял (9,6 ± 2,3) года, во второй – 5,4 ± 3,7. Результаты исследований и их обсуждение. Среди основных критериев для хирургического лечения гиперпаратиреоза диализных пациентов определены клинические, лабораторные и инструментальные показатели.Мета роботи: визначення поширенності гіперпаратиреозу у пацієнтів з хронічною нирковою недостатністю (ХНН), які проходили лікування з використанням діалізних технологій та аналіз результатів його хірургічного лікування.     Non-Equilibrium Edge Channel Spectroscopy in the Integer Quantum Hall Regime

    Heat transport has large potentialities to unveil new physics in mesoscopic systems. A striking illustration is the integer quantum Hall regime, where the robustness of Hall currents limits information accessible from charge transport. Consequently, the gapless edge excitations are incompletely understood. The effective edge states theory describes them as prototypal one-dimensional chiral fermions - a simple picture that explains a large body of observations and calls for quantum information experiments with quantum point contacts in the role of beam splitters. However, it is in ostensible disagreement with the prevailing theoretical framework that predicts, in most situations, additional gapless edge modes. Here, we present a setup which gives access to the energy distribution, and consequently to the energy current, in an edge channel brought out-of-equilibrium. This provides a stringent test of whether the additional states capture part of the injected energy. Our results show it is not the case and thereby demonstrate regarding energy transport, the quantum optics analogy of quantum point contacts and beam splitters.     ART-XC: A Medium-energy X-ray Telescope System for the Spectrum-R-Gamma Mission

    The ART-XC instrument is an X-ray grazing-incidence telescope system in an ABRIXAS-type optical configuration optimized for the survey observational mode of the Spectrum-RG astrophysical mission which is scheduled to be launched in 2011. ART-XC has two units, each equipped with four identical X-ray multi-shell mirror modules. The optical axes of the individual mirror modules are not parallel but are separated by several degrees to permit the four modules to share a single CCD focal plane detector, 1/4 of the area each. The 450-micron-thick pnCCD (similar to the adjacent eROSITA telescope detector) will allow detection of X-ray photons up to 15 keV. The field of view of the individual mirror module is about 18 x 18 arcminutes(exp 2) and the sensitivity of the ART-XC system for 4 years of survey will be better than 10(exp -12) erg s(exp -1) cm(exp -2) over the 4-12 keV energy band. This will allow the ART-XC instrument to discover several thousand new AGNs

    Objective: to study the effect of biologically active additives (BAA) based on the homogenate of drone larvae on microcirculation and metabolism in Nordic skiers. Materials and methods: 58 male skiers at the age of 18-20 years ranging from 1 category to CMS were divided into two groups: the main group (30 athletes) and the comparison group (28 athletes). The skiers of the main group used the homogenate of drone larvae daily at a dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight during 21 days. Athletes from the comparison group received potato starch (placebo). The study of the microcirculation system was performed with a laser analyzer of the capillary blood flow «LAKK-M» before the BAA administration, at the 1st, 10th and 21st days of the study and 30 days after the end of the BAA administration.     The private military industry and neoliberal imperialism: Mapping the terrain

    Despite the international reach, and increasing global importance, of the free market provision of military and security services—which we label the Private Security Industry (PSI)—management and organization studies has yet to pay significant attention to this industry. Taking up Grey’s (2009) call for scholarship at the boundaries between security studies and organization studies and building on Banerjee’s (2008) treatment of the PSI as a key element in necrocapitalism, in this article we aim to trace the long history of the PSI and argue that it has re-emerged over the last two decades against, and as a result of, a very specific politico-economic backdrop. We then suggest that the PSI operates as a mechanism for neoliberal imperialism; demonstrate its substitution for and supplementing of the state; and count some of the costs of this privatization of war. Finally, we take seriously Hughes’s (2007) thesis of the growth of a new security-industrial complex, and of the intersecting elites who benefit from this phenomenon
