    Il progetto di riqualificazione del Waterfront di Palermo \ue8 parte di una politica nazionale pi\uf9 ampia: il PIAU \u201cPorti e Stazioni\u201d, finanziato dal Ministero delle Infrastrutture, con la collaborazione attiva del Comune, dell'Autorit\ue0 Portuale e delle Ferrovie. Il nuovo \u201cPiano regolatore portuale\u201d (PRP), oltre ad affrontare le questioni pi\uf9 generali delle funzioni portuali, propone strategie per affrontare la questione della \u201c aree di interazione citt\ue0-porto\u201d e le "aree di interfaccia", immaginate per accogliere nuove funzioni residenziali, commerciali, culturali e ricreative. Il paper attraverso la descrizione del progetto per il waterfront di Palermo e il processo di redazione del nuovo PRP, affronta il tema della multi-settorialit\ue0 degli strumenti di gestione dei waterfront portuali e solleva alcune questioni sulla necessit\ue0 di integrare nei processi di pianificazione la variet\ue0 di soggetti a vario titolo interessati dalle trasformazione dei waterfront affrontando il rapporto conflittuale che tali trasformazioni possono generare tra soggetti, strumenti e competenze.Palermo\u2019s Waterfront regeneration project is part of a wider national policy: innovative program entitled \u201cPorts&Stations\u201d financed by the Ministry of the Infrastructure with the active partnership of the City Government, the Port Authority and the Italian railway company. To integrate strategy to increase infrastructures and to develop a city competitive growth the new \u201cPiano regolatore portuale\u201d (PRP), in addition to the issues of general port functions, propose strategies, design, services and businesses spaces and cope with the question of \u201ccity-port interaction areas\u201d and \u201cinterface areas\u201d, which are highly attractive for new residential, commercial, cultural and recreational functions. The experience of Palermo\u2019s Waterfront regeneration project deal with the question of multi-sectoriality and raises some issuses around the necessity to include multidisciplinary action in which a variety of subjects participate to produce a dynamically synergetic environment and to solve the conflictual relation between subjects, tools and competences

    Seismic Analysis as a Tool in the Design of Two Earth Dams

    Two dynamic analysis studies of embankment dams are described. One dam is 43m high on alluvium, the other is 140m high on a rock foundation in a highly seismic area. The main emphasis is on the practical nature of the analytical methods and their value as design tools. The earthquake design features of both projects are described and the closing paragraphs attempt to draw attention to the main points to be considered when running an earthquake analysis of earth dams

    Branding4Resilience: Explorative and Collaborative Approaches for Inner Territories

    This article analyzes inner and marginal territories in four Italian peripheral contexts by first discussing some of the results and future steps of the “B4R Branding4Resilience” research project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Research from 2020 to 2023. The overall research is based on three phases: (1) the exploration phase to analyze socio-economic data and territorial dynamics; (2) the co-design phase involving local actors to develop ideas for a selected pilot case; (3) the co-visioning phase where a future transformative perspective for the whole area was shared with the institutions. The article focuses on phase 1 and presents some first results achieved by the application of a methodological approach based on the integration of different qualitative and quantitative tools and methods. The results outline the exploration of the four selected territories through data analyses and mapping, perceptive-narrative explorations, field research, and explorative designs. The concept of peripherality is addressed in a critical way, trying to go beyond standardized definitions, including interdisciplinarity as an essential tool for territorial enhancement and branding. The main interpretation findings not only outline possible strategies and actions for the four analyzed inner territories, but also foster the application of the proposed methodological approach in other complex socio-economic contexts

    Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Biji Pinang (Areca Catechu L.) terhadap Waktu Perdarahan Pasca Ekstraksi Gigi pada Tikus Jantan Wistar (Rattus Norvegicus L.)

    PENGARUH PEMBERIAN EKSTRAK BIJI PINANG (ARECA CATECHU L.) TERHADAP WAKTU PERDARAHAN PASCA EKSTRAKSI GIGI PADA TIKUS JANTAN WISTAR (RATTUS NORVEGICUS L.) ABSTRAK Biji pinang (Areca catechu L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman obat yang dikenal masyarakat dapat menghentikan perdarahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak biji pinang terhadap waktu perdarahan pasca ekstraksi gigi pada tikus jantan galur Wistar. Pada penelitian ini metode yang digunakan merupakan eksperimental. Ekstrak biji pinang didapatkan dengan cara maserasi dan penguapan menggunakan Rotary vacuum evaporator. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 24 ekor tikus jantan galur Wistar yang dibagi dalam 3 kelompok. Sampel penelitian kelompok perlakuan terdiri dari 8 ekor tikus jantan galur Wistar. Delapan sampel kelompok perlakuan diberi ekstrak biji pinang dosis 13,834 mg/200 g BB. Perhitungan dosis menggunakan tabel faktor konversi. Proses ekstraksi gigi tikus dilakukan setelah 4 jam pemberian ekstrak. Pemeriksaan waktu perdarahan dimulai saat gigi telah terlepas dari soket dengan melihat darah yang keluar sampai mulai terbentuknya bekuan darah pada soket. Perhitungan waktu perdarahan menggunakan stopwatch. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata waktu perdarahan kelompok perlakuan yaitu 0.6125 (menit.detik). Rerata waktu perdarahan kelompok perlakuan tidak jauh berbeda dengan rerata waktu perdarahan kelompok kontrol positif yang diberi transamin yaitu 0.3475 (menit.detik) dan lebih singkat dari kelompok kontrol negatif etanol 96% dengan rerata waktu perdarahan 1.79 (menit.detik). Penelitian yang telah dilakukan menyimpulkan terdapat pengaruh pemberian ekstrak biji pinang (Areca catechu L.) dosis 13,834 mg/200 g BB terhadap waktu perdarahan pasca ekstraksi gigi pada tikus jantan galur Wistar. Kata kunci: Biji pinang, waktu perdarahan, ekstraksi gigi THE EFFECT OF BETEL NUT (Areca catechu L.) EXTRACT ON BLEEDING TIME AFTER EXTRACTION IN WISTAR MALE RATS (Rattus norvegicus L.) ABSTRACT The betel nut (Areca catechu L.) is a medicinal plant known by society to halt bleeding. This study was aimed to know the effect of betel nut extract administration on bleeding time after teeth extraction in Wistar male rats. This study was an experimental study. Betel nut extracts were obtained by maceration and evaporation using Rotary vacuum evaporator. The number of samples were 24 Wistar male rats divided into three groups. The treatment group consisted of 8 Wistar male rats. Eight samples of treatment group were fed with betel nut extract at dosage of 13,834 mg/200 g body weight. Dosages were calculated using conversion factor table. The rats teeth were extracted 4 hours after betel nut extract administration. Evaluation of bleeding time was started from the loss of extracted teeth from socket by observing the shed blood to the formation of blood clots in the socket. The bleeding time was calculated using stopwatch. Study results indicated that average bleeding time in treatment group namely 0.6125 (minute.second). The average bleeding time in treatment group did not differ significantly from average bleeding time in positive control group fed with transamine namely 0.3475 (minute.second), and shorter from negative control group fed with 96% ethanol with average bleeding time of 1.79 (minute.second). This study concluded that there was an effect of betel nut extract (Areca catechu L.) administration at dosage of 13,834 mg/200 g body weight on bleeding time after teeth extraction in Wistar male rats
