Limit geometry of complete projective special real manifolds

We study the limit geometry of complete projective special real manifolds. By limit geometry we mean the limit of the evolution of the defining polynomial and the centro-affine fundamental form along certain curves that leave every compact subset of the initial complete projective special real manifold. We obtain a list of possible limit geometries, which are themselves complete projective special real manifolds, and find a lower limit for the dimension of their respective symmetry groups. We further show that if the initial manifold has regular boundary behaviour, every possible limit geometry is isomorphic to R>0ā‹‰Rnāˆ’1\mathbb{R}_{>0}\ltimes\mathbb{R}^{n-1}.Comment: 55 pages, 1 figur

Bilingual Lexicography:Relevance of Corpora. The Example of German-Basque as Language Pair

Presentation for the 5th International Conference on Corpus Linguistics (CILC 2013), V Congreso Internacional de LingĆ¼istica de Corpus.[EN] Lexicography over the last decades has incorporated Corpus Linguistics methods. Lexicographers who start to work on an electronic dictionary, starting from scratch as Computational Linguists, and with little or no previous work done on their language pair, have to evaluate the contributions Corpus Linguistics methods may provide to their project, not only for lemmalist building, bilingual dictionary drafts and their documentation process in static entry editing, but also for dictionary publishing that contains dynamically generated corpus data displays. In the context of a low- or medium-density language pair, they will have to ask which electronic resources and tools are needed and available, and to evaluate the bilingual glossaries obtained with computational methods for their adequacy as bilingual dictionary draft. In this paper, we present some research on German- Basque corpus-based lexicography and describe our proposals for a new German-Basque electronic dictionary for Basque-L1 German learners. The observations and decisions to take at each stage of the lexicographical process may serve as reference for future dictionary projects that start from scratch, especially projects on other low- or medium-density language pairs.IT665-13, Basque Governmen

    Special homogeneous surfaces

We classify hyperbolic polynomials in two real variables that admit a transitive action on some component of their hyperbolic level sets. Such surfaces are called special homogeneous surfaces, and they are equipped with a natural Riemannian metric obtained by restricting the negative Hessian of their defining polynomial. Independent of the degree of the polynomials, there exist a finite number of special homogeneous surfaces. They are either flat, or have constant negative curvature.Comment: 26 pages, 12 figure

    Metalexicography as Knowledge Graph

This short paper presents preliminary considerations regarding LexBib, a corpus, bibliography, and domain ontology of Lexicography and Dictionary Research, which is currently being developed at University of Hildesheim. The LexBib project is intended to provide a bibliographic metadata collection made available through an online reference platform. The corresponding full texts are processed with text mining methods for the generation of additional metadata, such as term candidates, topic models, and citations. All LexBib content is represented and also publicly accessible as RDF Linked Open Data. We discuss a data model that includes metadata for publication details and for the text mining results, and that considers relevant standards for an integration into the LOD cloud

A system for scanning light to define a range gated signal includes a pulsed coherent light source that directs light into the atmosphere, a light gathering instrument that receives the light modified by atmospheric backscatter and transfers the light onto an image plane, a scanner that scans collimated light from the image plane to form a range gated signal from the light modified by atmospheric backscatter, a control circuit that coordinates timing of a scan rate of the scanner and a pulse rate of the pulsed coherent light source so that the range gated signal is formed according to a desired range gate, an optical device onto which an image of the range gated signal is scanned, and an interferometer to which the image of the range gated signal is directed by the optical device. The interferometer is configured to modify the image according to a desired analysis

Euskarazko eta alemanezko hiztegigintza elebiduna da jorratutako ildo guztiek elkarrekin duten gaia. Hiztegi berria sortzea zen asmoa, euskara-alemanezko hiztegi elektronikoa, hain zuzen ere. Asmoa gauzatzeko bidean, Hiztegigintza Historikoan, Metalexikografian, Hizkuntzalaritza Konputazionalean eta Hiztegigintza Aplikatuan kokatuko genituzkeen egin ditugun urratsen berri ematen dugu. Lehenik, gaiari ikuspuntu diakroniko batetik hurbiltzen gara. Alemana-euskara konbinazioan gaur arte ditugun lanak aztertzen ditugu, horien artean XIX. mendeko hiru lan, eta 1968, 1999 eta 2007ko hiztegi bana. Tesiaren bigarren atalean, euskararekiko eta alemanarekiko hiztegigintza elektronikoan dugun artearen egoera dugu hizpide, aro elektronikoaren aurreko zenbait lan ere kontuan hartuz. Hainbat paperezko zein formatu elektronikoan datozen hiztegitako laginak ikusi eta elkarrekin konparatzen ditugu. Bigarren atalean garatutako irizpideetatik abiatuz, proposamen zehatz batera igarotzen gara hirugarren atalean: alemana eta euskara lotzen dituen EuDeLex hiztegi elektroniko elebiduna egituratzeari ekiten diogu, makroegitura eta mikroegitura proposatuz, XML-egitura zein argitaratzeko formatuko hiztegi gisa.Laugarren atalean, EuDeLex hiztegia aleman-euskarazko itzulpen-ordainez osatzeko jokabideak dira gaia. Aleman-euskarazko itzulpen-ordainen bikoteak lortzeko metodo sorta ezartzen dugu hizkuntzalaritza konputazionaleko lankideekin elkarlanean, eta aurretik eskuz landutako EuDeLex hiztegiko datuak baliatzen ditugu metodo erdi-automatikoen eta automatikoen bitartez sorturiko euskaraz-alemanezko glosario elebidunen egokitasuna ebaluatzeko. Euskara-alemanezko corpus paraleloen, WordNet eta EDBL HAP-alorreko baliabideen eta bi hizkuntzetako Wikipedia entziklopedien gainean, besteak beste, burutzen ditugu esperimentu konputazionalak. LexMeta model za leksičke resurse: teorija i primjena

    Get PDF
This paper presents LexMeta, a metadata model for the description of lexical resources, such as dictionaries, word lists, glossaries, etc., to be used in language data catalogues mainly targeting the lexicographic and broader humanities communities but also users exploiting such resources in their research and applications. A comparative review of similar models is made in order to show the differences and commonalities with LexMeta. To enhance semantic interoperability and support the exchange of (meta)data across disciplinary and general catalogues, the most influential models for our purposes, namely FRBR (used in library catalogues) and META-SHARE (used for language resources), are selected as a base for the design of LexMeta. We discuss how these models are aligned and extended with new properties as required for the description of lexical resources. The formal representation of the model following the Linked Data paradigm aims to further enhance the semantic interoperability. The choice to implement it in two formats (as an RDF/OWL and as a Wikibase ontology) facilitates its adoption and hence its enrichment, yet poses challenges as to their synchronisation, which are addressed through automatic workflows. We conclude with ongoing and planned activities for the improvement of the model.
