    Design of an Integrated Analytics Platform for Healthcare Assessment Centered on the Episode of Care

    Assessing care quality and performance is essential to improve healthcare processes and population health management. However, due to bad system design and lack of access to required data, this assessment is often delayed or not done at all. The goal of our research is to investigate an advanced analytics platform that enables healthcare quality and performance assessment. We used a user-centered design approach to identify the system requirements and have the concept of episode of care as the building block of information for a key performance indicator analytics system. We implemented architecture and interface prototypes, and performed a usability test with hospital users with managerial roles. The results show that by using user-centered design we created an analytical platform that provides a holistic and integrated view of the clinical, financial and operational aspects of the institution. Our encouraging results warrant further studies to understand other aspects of usability

    Monografia apresentada ao Setor de Pós-graduação da Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense – UNESC, para a obtenção do título de especialista em Língua e Literatura com Ênfase nos Gêneros do Discurso.A leitura está inserida no currículo escolar, no processo de ensino e aprendizagem, desde as séries iniciais. Busca-se com este trabalho analisar o uso, a finalidade e a repercussão da leitura inserida nos gêneros do discurso. O problema a ser diagnosticado se remete a um aspecto muito importante, isto é, analisar em que medida a leitura exerce influência na construção de identidade do leitor. Sabe-se que a linguagem proporciona a relação social comunicativa das mais variadas formas seja por meio da linguagem verbal ou não verbal, falada ou escrita, na língua materna ou estrangeira. A linguagem discursiva realiza um processo de transmissão e também de aquisição do conhecimento. Transmitir o conhecimento é desempenhar a ação de envolver a linguagem para falantes de determinado meio social. Busca-se com este trabalho analisar o uso, a finalidade e a repercussão da leitura inserida nos gêneros do discurso, para isto aplicou-se questionário para 40 alunos do 8º ano e 53 alunos do 9º ano da Escola de Ensino Fundamental Cristo Rei

    La presente tesis de investigación, tiene por objeto determinar cuáles son los criterios para probar los plazos de caducidad y vulneración del derecho a la tutela jurisdiccional efectiva en el divorcio por adulterio, para lo cual se analizó los criterios para probar los plazos de caducidad y de qué forma se estaría vulnerando el derecho a la tutela jurisdiccional efectiva. Con el propósito de lograr los objetivos trazados se ha aplicado un proceso metodológico de tipo Básica, con un diseño de Teoría Fundamentada y un enfoque cualitativo, materializándolo en entrevistas realizadas a los abogados especialistas en derecho de familia. Asimismo, los resultados acopiados de las entrevistas realizadas, han sido logradas de los cuestionarios aplicados a los entrevistados y de todo el análisis documental fijado en el marco teórico. Concluyendo que, del análisis de los resultados obtenidos y de la discusión realizada se ha corroborado que los criterios para probar los plazos de caducidad en el divorcio por adulterio, vulneran el derecho a la tutela jurisdiccional efectiva respecto al debido proceso y a la igualdad ante la ley

    Power relations and the negotiation of meanings in a Community of Practice in the field of Mathematics Education

    This article aims to identify and analyze power relations in the negotiation of meanings in a Community of Practice, called the “Observatório da Educação Matemática” da Bahia (OEM-BA), formed by academics from the university and teachers of Basic Education, who came together to produce educational math curriculum materials. The research carried out was of a qualitative nature and the data were produced through observations of the activities carried out by OEM-BA. To support the analysis, we used Etienne Wenger\u27s Social Theory of Learning and Basil Bernstein\u27s Theory of Codes. By analyzing the data, we identify power relations between academic and non-academic discourses, as well as interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary discourses. This happened when members negotiated meanings relative to teaching and learning content operations with whole numbers and quantities directly and inversely proportional. The results of this research gave visibility to variations in the principles and hierarchies underlying the meeting between academics and scholars

    A study on the semiotic representations and the cognitive theory of multimedia learning in Math classes using digital videos

    This paper aims to identify, through a field work, the conversions and the treatments in the register of semiotic representations produced by students from their interaction with digital videos. Therefore, we present a categorization of digital videos, according to Mayer’s cognitive theory of multimedia learning, seeking possible relations of semiotic representation registers that appear in the videos with those submitted by the students in writing activities. The videos deal with the content of: rule of three, linear equations, polynomial function graph, modular functions, rational function, trigonometric functions, derivative function and integral function. The research subjects were thirteen students beginning undergraduate courses in Physics, Chemistry, Education, Production Engineering, Textile Engineering, Mathematics and Production Engineering with emphasis in Agribusiness. We have noted, from the point of view of mathematical contents, different semiotic representations expressed by the students in activities related to the same digital video. The results show that students do not restrict their representations to the content alone, on what the videos show, but they connect that information with their own ideas

    Where to learn math? A study of access to an educational channel on Youtube

    This article presents the results of a study whose data were collected from 2009 to 2012, about the users of a YouTube channel, aimed at teaching, and at the scientific dissemination of Mathematics. The goal of the study was to understand the reasons why different users consult the channel, as well as the themes looked up by them. The methodological approach adopted was a qualitative interpretative one. The results show that videos related to Linear Algebra are the most popular ones and the number of accesses to the channel increases, especially in periods of school evaluations, indicating that these videos work as support for students to learn or to complement their studies

    Exploring structural properties of kk-trees and block graphs

    We present a new characterization of kk-trees based on their reduced clique graphs and (k+1)(k+1)-line graphs, which are block graphs. We explore structural properties of these two classes, showing that the number of clique-trees of a kk-tree GG equals the number of spanning trees of the (k+1)(k+1)-line graph of GG. This relationship allows to present a new approach for determining the number of spanning trees of any connected block graph. We show that these results can be accomplished in linear time complexity.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figur
