Nuclear matter symmetry energy and the neutron skin thickness of heavy nuclei

Correlations between the thickness of the neutron skin in finite nuclei and the nuclear matter symmetry energy are studied in the Skyrme Hartree-Fock model. From the most recent analysis of the isospin diffusion data in heavy-ion collisions based on an isospin- and momentum-dependent transport model with in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross sections, a value of L=88±25L=88\pm 25 MeV for the slope of the nuclear symmetry energy at saturation density is extracted, and this imposes stringent constraints on both the parameters in the Skyrme effective interactions and the neutron skin thickness of heavy nuclei. Predicted thickness of the neutron skin is 0.22±0.040.22\pm 0.04 fm for % ^{208}Pb, 0.29±0.040.29\pm 0.04 fm for 132^{132}Sn, and 0.22±0.040.22\pm 0.04 fm for % ^{124}Sn.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, 1 table, revised version, to appear in PR

UMKM(Small Medium Micro Business) plays a very important role in Indonesia, especially in creating the job opportunity that is considered as a safety closure in the process of national economic recovery. Based on the significant role of the UMKM, there are many efforts done by either the government or the bank to empower the UMKM, but the targeted result is not achieved yet. The government has maintained several targets in empowering UMKM, in order to realize them some guidance regulations have been made and clarified in the development programs as mentioned in the RPJMN 2004 – 2009. The general targets to be achieved in encouraging the development of the growth of UMKM above are clarified in the following programs: The program of choosing the personality with commitment, the program of forming LKM (Micro Financial Foundation) that supports UMKM as the source of investment for UMKM. The co-operation program with Colleges as the source of research, the program of partnership with the modern retailer in opening the access for the markets of UMKM, andmapping of the potential business

Burden-Sharing and Accommodation of Migrants in the EU - a Simulation Based on Factorial Designs

    Get PDF
In recent years, migration to European countries has intensified like never before, raising issues regarding cooperation in order to manage the situation. The aim of this paper is to simulate the implications for the cooperation between countries using the Vickrey-Clarke-Groves (VCG) mechanism and statistical analysis. In the simulation, we identify the consequences of various decisions of the countries involved in accommodating migrants. We conclude that the types of migrants and partners willing to cooperate can influence on the groups accommodated first, and that the decision to cooperate can influence on the political situation and budgets of receiving countries

Mean free paths and in-medium scattering cross sections of energetic nucleons in neutron-rich nucleonic matter within the relativistic impulse approximation

The mean free paths and in-medium scattering cross sections of energetic nucleons in neutron-rich nucleonic matter are investigated using the nucleon optical potential obtained within the relativistic impulse approximation with the empirical nucleon-nucleon scattering amplitudes and the nuclear densities obtained in the relativistic mean field model. It is found that the isospin-splitting of nucleon mean free paths, sensitive to the imaginary part of the symmetry potential, changes its sign at certain high kinetic energy. The in-medium nucleon-nucleon cross sections are analytically and numerically demonstrated to be essentially independent of the isospin asymmetry of the medium and increase linearly with density in the high energy region where the relativistic impulse approximation is applicable.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure

Group classification of heat conductivity equations with a nonlinear source

We suggest a systematic procedure for classifying partial differential equations invariant with respect to low dimensional Lie algebras. This procedure is a proper synthesis of the infinitesimal Lie's method, technique of equivalence transformations and theory of classification of abstract low dimensional Lie algebras. As an application, we consider the problem of classifying heat conductivity equations in one variable with nonlinear convection and source terms. We have derived a complete classification of nonlinear equations of this type admitting nontrivial symmetry. It is shown that there are three, seven, twenty eight and twelve inequivalent classes of partial differential equations of the considered type that are invariant under the one-, two-, three- and four-dimensional Lie algebras, correspondingly. Furthermore, we prove that any partial differential equation belonging to the class under study and admitting symmetry group of the dimension higher than four is locally equivalent to a linear equation. This classification is compared to existing group classifications of nonlinear heat conductivity equations and one of the conclusions is that all of them can be obtained within the framework of our approach. Furthermore, a number of new invariant equations are constructed which have rich symmetry properties and, therefore, may be used for mathematical modeling of, say, nonlinear heat transfer processes.Comment: LaTeX, 51 page

Effect of symmetry energy on two-nucleon correlation functions in heavy-ion collisions induced by neutron-rich nuclei

    Get PDF
Using an isospin-dependent transport model, we study the effects of nuclear symmetry energy on two-nucleon correlation functions in heavy ion collisions induced by neutron-rich nuclei. We find that the density dependence of the nuclear symmetry energy affects significantly the nucleon emission times in these collisions, leading to larger values of two-nucleon correlation functions for a symmetry energy that has a stronger density dependence. Two-nucleon correlation functions are thus useful tools for extracting information about the nuclear symmetry energy from heavy ion collisions.Comment: Revised version, to appear in Phys. Rev. Let

Optimization of water extract of Cinnamomum burmannii bark to ascertain its in vitro antidiabetic and antioxidant activities

    Get PDF
The antidiabetic and antioxidant activity of water extract of Cinnamomum burmannii bark is well documented. This research aimed to optimize cinnamon water extraction process and verify active components instigating its in vitro antidiabetic activity. The study employed Design Expert 7.0 program to derive factorial design and optimization conditions. The extraction step comprised of three factors (temperature, concentration and time of extraction) and two levels (low and high), with four responses observed (yield, total phenolic content, IC50DPPH antioxidant activity, and IC50 α-glucosidase inhibition). The polynomial equations revealed influence and interaction among the selected factors to the responses and obtained overlay optimization of factors to responses. The results indicated that optimal temperature, concentration, and extraction time were 98 °C, 30% and 20 min, respectively. Corresponding DPPH, α-glucosidase, TPC, and yield values were 3.45 μg/ml, 0.50 μg/ml, 259.08 μg GAE/mg of sample, 6.28%, respectively. LCMS analysis of the optimum extract confirmed typical characteristic of C. burmanii contents (coumarins, polymers of proanthocyanidins A-type and protonated heterodimer of flavan-3-ol group). The optimized water extract of C.burmannii has the potency to assist in complementary therapy to modulate diabetes mellitus
