PMU measurements based short-term voltage stability assessment of power systems via deep transfer learning

Deep learning has emerged as an effective solution for addressing the challenges of short-term voltage stability assessment (STVSA) in power systems. However, existing deep learning-based STVSA approaches face limitations in adapting to topological changes, sample labeling, and handling small datasets. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a novel phasor measurement unit (PMU) measurements-based STVSA method by using deep transfer learning. The method leverages the real-time dynamic information captured by PMUs to create an initial dataset. It employs temporal ensembling for sample labeling and utilizes least squares generative adversarial networks (LSGAN) for data augmentation, enabling effective deep learning on small-scale datasets. Additionally, the method enhances adaptability to topological changes by exploring connections between different faults. Experimental results on the IEEE 39-bus test system demonstrate that the proposed method improves model evaluation accuracy by approximately 20% through transfer learning, exhibiting strong adaptability to topological changes. Leveraging the self-attention mechanism of the Transformer model, this approach offers significant advantages over shallow learning methods and other deep learning-based approaches.Comment: Accepted by IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation & Measuremen

ABSTRACT The paper presents method for planning robotic dexterous hand grasping task using example of the Beihang University's BH-4 dexterous hand. The grasping planning method is devised through modeling and simulation and experimentally verified using physical prototype. The paper presents the method for forward and inverse kinematic solutions of the BH-4 robot 4-DOF finger, including transformation matrix between the palm coordinate system and the finger base coordinate system. In addition, the method of the idiographic manipulation is presented using example of ball grasping. The simulation results and physical experiment verify that the inverse kinematic solution is correct, and kinematic grasping and operating planning is valid and feasible. Finally, the experiment with the complex system integrated robot arm with dexterous hand is carried out. Experimental result shows that the more complicated grasping task can be done by a dexterous hand integrated in the robot arm system

Impact of opioid-free analgesia on pain severity and patient satisfaction after discharge from surgery: multispecialty, prospective cohort study in 25 countries

Background: Balancing opioid stewardship and the need for adequate analgesia following discharge after surgery is challenging. This study aimed to compare the outcomes for patients discharged with opioid versus opioid-free analgesia after common surgical procedures. Methods: This international, multicentre, prospective cohort study collected data from patients undergoing common acute and elective general surgical, urological, gynaecological, and orthopaedic procedures. The primary outcomes were patient-reported time in severe pain measured on a numerical analogue scale from 0 to 100% and patient-reported satisfaction with pain relief during the first week following discharge. Data were collected by in-hospital chart review and patient telephone interview 1 week after discharge. Results: The study recruited 4273 patients from 144 centres in 25 countries; 1311 patients (30.7%) were prescribed opioid analgesia at discharge. Patients reported being in severe pain for 10 (i.q.r. 1-30)% of the first week after discharge and rated satisfaction with analgesia as 90 (i.q.r. 80-100) of 100. After adjustment for confounders, opioid analgesia on discharge was independently associated with increased pain severity (risk ratio 1.52, 95% c.i. 1.31 to 1.76; P < 0.001) and re-presentation to healthcare providers owing to side-effects of medication (OR 2.38, 95% c.i. 1.36 to 4.17; P = 0.004), but not with satisfaction with analgesia (beta coefficient 0.92, 95% c.i. -1.52 to 3.36; P = 0.468) compared with opioid-free analgesia. Although opioid prescribing varied greatly between high-income and low- and middle-income countries, patient-reported outcomes did not. Conclusion: Opioid analgesia prescription on surgical discharge is associated with a higher risk of re-presentation owing to side-effects of medication and increased patient-reported pain, but not with changes in patient-reported satisfaction. Opioid-free discharge analgesia should be adopted routinely

The causal relationship between psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and inflammatory bowel diseases

Abstract Psoriasis is more common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) than in the general population. Similarly, patients with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis (PsA) have a higher incidence of IBD. However, whether this association is causal remains unknown. Therefore, we used a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to identify this relationship. According to MR analysis, psoriasis and PsA causally increased the odds of developing Crohn’s disease (OR = 1.350 (1.066–1.709) P = 0.013; OR = 1.319 (1.166–1.492) P < 0.001). In contrast, MR estimates gave little support to a possible causal effect of psoriasis, PsA, on ulcerative colitis (OR = 1.101 (0.905–1.340) P = 0.335; OR = 1.007 (0.941–1.078) P = 0.831). Similarly, the reverse analysis suggested the Crohn’s disease causally increased the odds of psoriasis and PsA (OR = 1.425 (1.174–1.731) P < 0.001; OR = 1.448 (1.156–1.182) P = 0.001), whereas there are no causal association between ulcerative colitis and psoriasis, PsA (OR = 1.192 (0.921–1.542) P = 0.182; OR = 1.166 (0.818–1.664) P = 0.396). In summary, our MR analysis strengthens the evidence for the bidirectional dual causality between psoriasis (including PsA) and Crohn’s disease

A Comparative Study of Factors Influencing the Survival Time of Invention Patents in Chinese Universities

    No full text
Based on the fact that the granted amount of patents in Chinese universities have increased significantly, we took the invention patents applied by universities in Sichuan Province from 2001 to 2015 as a sample and adopted Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards model. We found significant differences in the survival time of invention patents in the three types of universities Based on this, we conducted an empirical study and comparative analysis on the factors influencing the survival time of the three types of universities. It was found that the number of citations and the number of patent families have different effects on the survival time of invention patents in the three types of universities; the examination time and the number of inventors have negative effects on the survival time of invention patents in the three types of universities; the number of claims, the number of IPCs and the number of forward citations have positive effects on the survival time of invention patents in the three types of universities. This paper can provide some reference for universities to cultivate high-value patents

Optimization of NOx emission control based on high sulfur coal combustion

    No full text
Combined with the operation of an 800MW supercritical boiler burning high sulfur coal, in order to control the emission of nitrogen oxides, the optimization adjustment of ammonia injection and NOx emission reduction based on combustion adjustment is proposed. According to the test of the inlet and outlet of denitration system under 800 MW condition, the parameters of NOx, O2, NH3, wind speed and so on at the inlet and outlet of denitration system are tested, and the ammonia injection manual valve is adjusted according to the test results. After adjustment, the NOx distribution at the outlet of denitration system is uniform, and the ammonia injection quantity is reduced. After adjustment, the flow field under 800 MW and 500 MW conditions is tested, and the flow field distribution under the two conditions is uniform. The adjustment test has achieved the expected effect
