The definitive version is available at www.elsevierhealth.comPurpose The use of hand radiographs has both clinical and anthropometric applications. However, a method for converting standard bony points within the metacarpus to Cartesian co-ordinates does not exist. Methods A simple method for converting standard bony points of the second to fifth metacarpals to Cartesian co-ordinates is described for the first time. Results Using a small set of measurements and treating these with equations of known voracity, this method is accurate and allows the metacarpus to be interro¬gated via a much wider range of geometrical techniques than has so far been available. Conclusions This method allows naked-eye assessments to be supported or re¬placed by metrical evaluations.     Effects of Organizational Climate on Dual Language Teacher Retention

    There has been notable growth in the number of dual language programs across the United States in recent years. Like traditional bilingual programs, dual language programs rely heavily on the adequate staffing of bilingual teachers—a subgroup of educators who are in short supply. Despite notable findings from research regarding bilingual teacher retention, the topic of dual language teacher retention remains relatively unexplored. The purpose of this quantitative study was to investigate to what extent a statistically significant association exists between factors related to organizational climate and dual language teacher retention. Using the Organizational Climate Index, the researcher explored four key domains of organizational climate: Collegial Leadership, Professional Teacher Behavior, Achievement Press, and Institutional Vulnerability. Survey results from 86 dual language teachers in the District of Columbia Public Schools were analyzed using a correlational design. The results of this study were calculated using a logistic regression model, which indicated a statistically significant association between Collegial Leadership, Professional Teacher Behavior, and Institutional Vulnerability and dual language teacher retention intentions. Inversely, no statistically significant association was found between Achievement Press and dual language teacher retention intention

    In this report, the authors discuss cryptocurrencies — especially bitcoin — and argue that because the IRS lists them as property, they are taxable, and because they are not as anonymous as once thought, they are not free from fraud. Cryptocurrencies are digital assets used as a medium of exchange, but they are not really coins. They can be sent electronically from one entity to another almost anywhere in the world with an internet connection. There are many cryptocurrencies in the market, including bitcoin, ethereum, ethereum classic, litecoin, nem, dash, iota, bitshares, monero, neo, and ripple. Many of the cryptocurrency networks are not controlled by a single entity or company; instead, a decentralized network of computers keeps track of the currency using a token ID. A ledger maintains a continuously growing list of date stamped transactions in real time called “blocks.” This technology is known as blockchain, which records, verifies, and stores transactions without a trusted central authority. The network instead relies on decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) with uncertain legal standing

    The Palauan Orthography Committee met at Palau High School, Koror, Palau, from July 24 to August 2, 1972, to decide on standard rules for Palauan spelling. Members of the Palau community who participated on the Committee were Father Felix Yaoch, Francisco Morel, Huan Polloi, Timarong Siaior, Rengulbai Ngeburch, Santos Ngodrii, Hermana Remarui, Hubert Elechuus, Masa-Aki Emesiochl, Masaharu Tmodrang, and Sadang Nglraecherang. Professor Lewis Josephs and Dr. Helen Wilson, of the University of Hawaii Department of Linguistics and Pacific and Asian Linguistics Institute, served as consultants. The results of the Orthography Committee's deliberations are summarized below. First, the spelling of Palauan consonants and vowels is discussed, and then various rules pertaining to the spelling of individual Palauan words are presented

    Community opinion and satisfaction with the leadership at an urban community educational learning center during an organizational transformational process: a frontline perspective from community stakeholders

    This study examined selected community stakeholders\u27 perception of the current leadership at their local community educational learning center during an organizational transformation and cultural change process. The transition from a community college to an educational learning center, mandated in 2006 by the Accredition Commission and agreed on by the Chancellor\u27s office, was facilitated by a community college of another district. This process appeared to produce mixed reactions from various educational learning center constituency groups. During the transformational process, opinions how the institutional leadership addressed the task of developing a trusting and meaningful relationship with community stakeholders surfaced. Based on the survey responses gathered from selected community stakeholders from various community-based organizations, this study identified prevalent perceptions regarding the current educational learning center\u27s leadership. Previously, there has been no research examining how community stakeholders feel about the current leadership, state take-over, and partnership phenomena born out of a college district losing its accreditation. Therefore, while researching how satisfied selected community stakeholders were with the current leadership under these unique circumstances, this study also offered an in-depth look at college operations, accreditation expectations, and community relations. The majority of stakeholders surveyed were generally concerned about the current type of leadership at their local educational learning center, and the manner in which the state take-over and partnership impacted the subject community college district stakeholders during the organizational transformation and cultural change process. While focusing on a transformational leadership theoretical framework, this dissertation revealed that generally, stakeholders had opinions that indicated they were not completely satisfied with the manner in which the organizational transformation and cultural change process is being conducted. The results of this study showed that community stakeholders were primarily dissatisfied with the type of leadership strategy facilitated during the transformational process; the manner in which communication is facilitated to the community and the quality of course program offerings. Opinions varied regarding campus services, facilities access and conditions. In the final chapter of this dissertation recommendations are offered to improve public and community relations under the unique circumstances of an organizational transformation and cultural change process of an urban community college
