    USING PICTURE AND PICTURE LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE WRITING AND SPEAKING SKILLS IN NARRATIVE TEXT

    This study aimed at investigating the effect of using picture and picture learning model towards the result of writing narrative paragraph. This study used experimental design. The population of the research is the 7th grade students of SMPN 239 Jakarta. Before deciding the class that will be used as sample of the research, the writer took the score of the final test in the first semester. The data are tested for normality and homogeneity, and then to be selected randomly. Based on the outcome of the research which is gained using T-Test, the writer summarizes that there is an effect using picture and picture learning model towards the result of writing narrative paragraph.  The conclusions can be seen as follow: The Mean is 62,5; the Median (Me) is 65; the Mode (Mo) is 70; the Variance (S2) is 60,58; and the Standard Deviation (S) is 7,79. Next, the second data from the experiment class as follows: The Mean is 84,7; the Median (Me) is 85; the Mode (Mo) is 85; the Variance (S2) is 24,90; and the Standard Deviation (S) is 4,99. It means that hypothesis null (H0) is rejected and hypothesis alternative (H1) is accepted

    Correction Of Grammatical Mistakes In Classroom Interaction

    This study aims at describing the grammatical mistakes at the first year classes of English Department of State University of Jakarta and to investigate the correction of those grammatical mistakes. This study used a case study as a method. It used non-participant observation as the instrument of the study. There are six classes were being observed more than five times, total of the data sources is 39 classroom activities. The result of this study shows that students at the first year classes of ED UNJ made grammatical mistakes mostly in number while the students did not make mistakes in definiteness. It also shows that most teachers are aware to students’ grammatical mistakes since more than 50% of the mistakes were corrected by the teacher. The result of this study shows that the most effective correction of grammatical mistakes is clarification request.Key words: Grammatical Mistakes, Correction of Grammatical Mistakes, Classroom Interactio

    ANALISIS KEBUTUHAN TERHADAP PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA INGGRIS BERBASIS KARAKTER

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan analisis kebutuhan terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis pendidikan karakter. Analisis kebutuhan dilakukan kepada guru dan peserta didik sebagai pelaksana program pembelajaran. Analisis kebutuhan ini dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif analisis dengan menggunakan kuesioner sebagai instrumen pengambilan data. Hasil analisis kebutuhan yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa nilai karakter yang dianggap paling penting oleh peserta didik adalah religius dan tanggung jawab. Hasil analisis kebutuhan juga menunjukkan bahwa unsur dan keterampilan bahasa yang paling sulit adalah tata bahasa dan menyimak. Dengan kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang cukup baik, peserta didik membutuhkan materi ajar berupa video, naskah dalam bermain peran, teks yang digunakan untuk dapat memahami struktur dan pengorganisasiannya, serta teks untuk menulis bebas.Peneliti berharap akan adanya penelitian lanjutan dari hasil analisis kebutuhan ini. Penelitian lanjutan yang dapat dilakukan berupa pengembangan silabus, materi ajar, dan juga evaluasi pembelajaran.Kata Kunci : Bahasa, Pembelajaran, Karakte

    This research aimed at describing the result of English textbook analysis. The textbook is used as a medium for teaching English for Third-Grade students of Vocational Highschool in the second. This analysis verifies the appropriateness of the material that is contained in the book and used as a medium of teaching. The development of "Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP)” in the national standards of education consists of content standard (Standar Isi), process, standard of grades competence (Standar Kompetensi Lulusan), teachers standard, facilities, management, funds, and the educational evaluation. The two of education national standards, Content Standard (Standar Isi) and Standard of Grades Competence (Standar Kompetensi Lulusan) are used as the main reference in developing the curriculum (KTSP). Those two standards are implemented to achieve the goals of the learning
