Slip line growth as a critical phenomenon
We study the growth of slip line in a plastically deforming crystal by
numerical simulation of a double-ended pile-up model with a dislocation source
at one end, and an absorbing wall at the other end. In presence of defects, the
pile-up undergoes a second order non-equilibrium phase transition as a function
of stress, which can be characterized by finite size scaling. We obtain a
complete set of critical exponents and scaling functions that describe the
spatiotemporal dynamics of the slip line. Our findings allow to reinterpret
earlier experiments on slip line kinematography as evidence of a dynamic

The spatio-temporal spectrum of turbulent flows
Identification and extraction of vortical structures and of waves in a
disorganised flow is a mayor challenge in the study of turbulence. We present a
study of the spatio-temporal behavior of turbulent flows in the presence of
different restitutive forces. We show how to compute and analyse the
spatio-temporal spectrum from data stemming from numerical simulations and from
laboratory experiments. Four cases are considered: homogeneous and isotropic
turbulence, rotating turbulence, stratified turbulence, and water wave
turbulence. For homogeneous and isotropic turbulence, the spectrum allows
identification of sweeping by the large scale flow. For rotating and for
stratified turbulence, the spectrum allows identification of the waves, precise
quantification of the energy in the waves and in the turbulent eddies, and
identification of physical mechanisms such as Doppler shift and wave absorption
in critical layers. Finally, in water wave turbulence the spectrum shows a
transition from gravity-capillary waves to bound waves as the amplitude of the

Symmetry Breaking Phase Transitions in ABJM Theory with a Finite U(1) Chemical Potential
We consider the U(1) charged sector of ABJM theory at finite temperature,
which corresponds to the Reissner-Nordstrom AdS black hole in the dual type IIA
supergravity description. Including back-reaction to the bulk geometry, we show
that phase transitions occur to a broken phase where SU(4) R-symmetry of the
field theory is broken spontaneously by the condensation of dimension one or
two operators. We show both numerically and analytically that the relevant
critical exponents for the dimension one operator agree precisely with those of
mean field theory in the strongly coupled regime of the large N planar limit.Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures, typos corrected, references added, improved

Evaluation of roasting effect on selected green tea volatile flavor compound and pyrazine content by hs-spme gc-ms
The present study aims at the development and validation of a quali-quantitative headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (HS-SPME GC-MS) method for the analysis of odorants in different Chinese and Japanese green teas. A 65 µm PDMS/DVB fiber was used, and GC-MS was performed on a ZB-5 (30 m × 0.25 mm ID, 0.25 µm film) column. The main odorants in green tea samples were identified and the method was fully validated. Linearity (r2 0.981–0.999), sensitivity (LOQ 0.005–0.04 µg/mL), reproducibility (CV% 3.12–10.37), accuracy (recovery% 79.08–99.17) and matrix effect (ME% −9.5 to +4.5) were determined. Quantitation of 2,4-heptadienal, β-damascenone, β-ionone, linalool, indole, 2-ethyl-6-methyl-pyrazine, 2-ethyl-5-methyl-pyrazine, 2-ethyl-3,6-dimethylpirazine, 2-ethyl-3,5-dimethyl-pyrazine and 2-acetyl-pyrazine was carried out in the presence of isotopically labeled compounds as the internal standards. The proposed method was applied to the comparison of the profile of the volatile flavor compounds (VFCs) of green tea subjected to roasting treatment at three different temperatures (160, 180 and 200◦C for 30 min). In particular, the roasting process was monitored by following the quantitative variations of the selected odorant content, considered as the most important contributory components to the Hojicha or black tea (roasted tea) flavor. Superspace calculation of the four-loop spectrum in N=6 supersymmetric Chern-Simons theories
Using N=2 superspace techniques we compute the four-loop spectrum of single
trace operators in the SU(2) x SU(2) sector of ABJM and ABJ supersymmetric
Chern-Simons theories. Our computation yields a four-loop contribution to the
function h^2(\lambda) (and its ABJ generalization) in the magnon dispersion
relation which has fixed maximum transcendentality and coincides with the
findings in components given in the revised versions of arXiv:0908.2463 and
arXiv:0912.3460. We also discuss possible scenarios for an all-loop function
