Contribution à l'étude structurale par PY/CG-SM de la matière organique liée aux particules fines (0-50 µm) dans quelques sols sous formations naturelles de longue durée au Burkina Faso

Contribution to the study by PY/GC-MS of organic matter linked to fine particles (0-50 µm) in some soils under long-term natural formations in Burkina Faso. The study aims to enhance the knowledge on organic matter of Arenosols, Ferralsols, and Cambisols in Burkina Faso. It deals with the distribution of C and N in three particles size fractions and is focused on the structures of organic matter linked to the (0-50 µm) fraction. The results showed that total organic matter was lower than 2% in all soil units. More than 70% of total carbon were held by the finest fraction. The main products released by PY/GC-MS technique of the (0-50 µm) fraction were lignin derived compounds, non lignin derived aromatic compounds, carbohydrates derived compounds, fatty acids methyl esters and nitrogen derived compounds. The aliphatic compounds ranged from C12 to C18, C16 being the dominant one. The aliphatic compounds were negatively correlated with the aromatic compounds. A positive correlation was observed between the nitrogen derived compounds and the amounts of clay. On the other hand, the carbohydrates derived compounds were negatively correlated with clay particles. Furthermore, the study pointed out some different structures of lignin such as syringyl, guaiacyl, and p.hydrophenyl. Depending on the nature of wood (hard wood, soft wood and grasses), they reflected the composition of vegetation on the studied sites. Signifiers as a First-class Abstraction in Hypermedia Multi-Agent Systems

Hypermedia APIs enable the design of reusable hypermedia clients that discover and exploit affordances on the Web. However, the reusability of such clients remains limited since they cannot plan and reason about interaction. This paper provides a conceptual bridge between hypermedia-driven affordance exploitation on the Web and methods for representing and reasoning about actions that have been extensively explored for Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) and, more broadly, Artificial Intelligence. We build on concepts and methods from Affordance Theory and Human-Computer Interaction that support interaction efficiency in open and evolvable environments to introduce signifiers as a first-class abstraction in Web-based MAS: Signifiers are designed with respect to the agent-environment context of their usage and enable agents with heterogeneous abilities to act and to reason about action. We define a formal model for the contextual exposure of signifiers in hypermedia environments that aims to drive affordance exploitation. We demonstrate our approach with a prototypical Web-based MAS where two agents with different reasoning abilities proactively discover how to interact with their environment by perceiving only the signifiers that fit their abilities. We show that signifier exposure can be inherently managed based on the dynamic agent-environment context towards facilitating effective and efficient interactions on the Web

Anomalous dispersion of optical phonons at the neutral-ionic transition: Evidence from diffuse X-ray scattering

Diffuse X-ray data for mixed stack organic charge-transfer crystals approaching the neutral-ionic phase transition can be quantitatively explained as due to the softening of the optical phonon branch. The interpretation is fully consistent with vibrational spectra, and underlines the importance of electron-phonon coupling in low-dimensional systems with delocalized electrons.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Datos sobre la cría de los avestruces

La cría de los avestruces dá excelentes resultados en el Cabo de Buena Esperanza y en la Argelia, y, teniendo en cuenta que estos países tienen la misma latitud que nosotros, es de creerse que los obtendrían también nuestros estancieros si emprendiesen la cría de estas aves. El año 1865 había solamente 80 avestruces domesticados en el Cabo de Buena Esperanza; el año 1875, existían 21.751 y se calculaba que ascendían á 100.000 en el año 1885. Esta colonia ha exportado el año 1881, 87.706 kilogramos de plumas. Los que quieran emprender la cría de los avestruces deben hacerse de ejemplares que provengan de animales domesticados, desde tres ó cuatro generaciones. Esta condición es muy importante. Los avestruces cazados en el campo y domesticados en seguida, dan resultados casi nulos y sus descendientes, aunque mejorados, los dan todavía muy incompletos. Es por haber reconocido esa ley, que los criadores del Cabo de Buena Esperanza se han adelantado mucho á los de la Argelia en la cría de estas aves. Entre los primeros, los avestruces son conocidos individualmente y tienen su genealogía en regla como los caballos de carrera.Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Forestale

En Europa, el pueblo de las campañas atribuye la rabia en los perros á la falta de agua. En la provincia de Buenos Aires, cuando un perro abandona la casa de su dueño, los paisanos dicen: rabió. Magnetic structures of non-cerium analogues of heavy-fermion Ce2RhIn8: case of Nd2RhIn8, Dy2RhIn8 and Er2RhIn8

R2RhIn8 compounds (space group P4/mmm, R is a rare-earth element) belong to a large group of structurally related tetragonal materials which involves several heavy-fermion superconductors based on Ce. We have succeeded to grow single crystals of compounds with Nd, Dy and Er and following our previous bulk measurements, we performed neutron-diffraction studies to determine their magnetic structures. The Laue diffraction experiment showed that the antiferromagnetic order below the N\'eel temperature is in all three compounds characterized by the propagation vector k = (1/2, 1/2, 1/2). The amplitude and direction of the magnetic moments, as well as the invariance symmetry of the magnetic structure, were determined by subsequent experiments using two- and four-circle diffractometers.
