Jätkä ui taas! : eskimokäännöksen opetusvideon tekoprosessi

Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tuottaa opetusmateriaali eskimokäännöksen harjoitteluun. Opetusmateriaalin muodoksi valittiin video, jota on mahdollista käyttää itsenäisessä eskimokäännöksen harjoittelussa tai tukimateriaalina eskimokäännöksen opetuksessa. Työn tarkoituksena oli muodostaa taidon oppimisen teorioiden pohjalta opetusvideo, jossa käytännön opetus ja teoria yhdistetään toimivaksi kokonaisuudeksi. Tulokseksi haluttiin saada katsojaystävällinen video, joka kuitenkin pohjautuu tarkasti valittuihin teorioihin, sekä hyviksi havaittuihin käytännönharjoitteisiin. Jo taustamateriaalin hankkimisessa käytettiin paljon hyödyksi videointia ja kuvattiin erilaisia harjoitustilanteita sekä koulutuksia. Tällä tavoin saatiin analysoitua harjoitteita jälkikäteen ja yhdisteltyä niitä teorioiden kanssa haluttua käyttötarkoitusta varten. Parhaiksi koetut harjoitteet koottiin yhteen ja ne kuvattiin opetusvideoksi. Opetusvideo on sisällöltään kattava ja siinä käydään läpi harjoitteita niin vasta-alkajalle kuin kokeneemmallekin melojalle. Katsoja pystyy arvioimaan oman tasonsa ja valitsemaan omalle taitotasolleen sopivat harjoitteet. Useissa opetusvideon eri osissa painotetaan kuitenkin erityisesti lantion käyttöä, joka on eskimokäännöksen olennaisin osatekijä. Aikaisempaa suomenkielistä materiaalia ei eskimokäännöksestä juurikaan ole olemassa. Näin ollen voidaan olettaa, että kyseessä on ensimmäinen suomenkielinen opetusvideo eskimokäännöksestä.The goal of this bachelor`s thesis was to produce a teaching tutorial for kayaking, specifically on how to practice an Eskimo roll. The tutorial was made in a video format. It is possible to use the tutorial for individual kayaking training, or as a support material when teaching the Eskimo roll. The purpose was to produce a video which combines both theory and practice. The idea was that the theory is based on the theories of motor learning. The tutorial was meant to be easy to follow, but nonetheless was based on carefully chosen theories and on proven practices. While gathering the background material a lot of video footage was shot, and numerous exercise and training events were documented. The material provided the possibility to analyze the exercises afterwards, and to combine them with the chosen theories. Only the best exercises and footage was included in the final video. The tutorial video is comprehensive, and it introduces exercises for beginners as well as for advanced paddlers. The viewer can evaluate their own skills, and can choose exercises suitable for their own level. The theory emphasizes, that the most important component of the Eskimo roll is the use of one’s hips, which is included in several parts of the tutorial. There are only few Finnish sources for Eskimo roll. Therefore, it can be assumed that this is the first Finnish tutorial video for the Eskimo roll ever made

Efficient Minimization of DFAs with Partial Transition Functions

Let PT-DFA mean a deterministic finite automaton whose transition relation is a partial function. We present an algorithm for minimizing a PT-DFA in $O(m \lg n)$ time and $O(m+n+\alpha)$ memory, where $n$ is the number of states, $m$ is the number of defined transitions, and $\alpha$ is the size of the alphabet. Time consumption does not depend on $\alpha$, because the $\alpha$ term arises from an array that is accessed at random and never initialized. It is not needed, if transitions are in a suitable order in the input. The algorithm uses two instances of an array-based data structure for maintaining a refinable partition. Its operations are all amortized constant time. One instance represents the classical blocks and the other a partition of transitions. Our measurements demonstrate the speed advantage of our algorithm on PT-DFAs over an $O(\alpha n \lg n)$ time, $O(\alpha n)$ memory algorithm
