    Method of neutralizing the corrosive surface of amine-cured epoxy resins

    The corrosive alkaline surface layer of an epoxy resin product formed by the curing of the epoxy with an aliphatic amine is eliminated by first applying a non-solvent to remove most or all of the free unreacted amine and then applying a layer of a chemical reagent to neutralize the unused amine or amine functional groups by forming a substituted urea. The surface then may be rinsed with acetone and then with alcohol. The non-solvent may be an alcohol. The neutralizing chemical reagent is a mono-isocyanate or a mono-isothiocyanate. Preferred is an aromatic mono-isocyanate such as phenyl isocyanate, nitrophenyl isocyanate and naplthyl isocyanate

    A family of physical correction filters is described. Each filter is designed to correct image content of a photographed scene of limited resolution and includes a first filter element with a pinhole through which light passes to a differential amplifier. A second filter element through which light passes through one or more openings, whose geometric configuration is a function of the cause of the resolution loss included. The light, passing through the second filter element, is also supplied to the differential amplifier whose output is used to activate an optical display or recorder to reproduce a photograph or display of the scene in the original photograph or display of the scene in the original photograph with resolution which is significantly greater than that characterizing the original photograph

    The free-surface model presented is for tidal estuaries and coastal regions where ambient tidal forces play an important role in the dispersal of heated water. The model is time dependent, three dimensional, and can handle irregular bottom topography. The vertical stretching coordinate is adopted for better treatment of kinematic condition at the water surface. The results include surface elevation, velocity, and temperature. The model was verified at the Anclote Anchorage site of Florida Power Company. Two data bases at four tidal stages for winter and summer conditions were used to verify the model. Differences between measured and predicted temperatures are on an average of less than 1 C

    Hamiltonian approach to slip-stacking dynamics

    Hamiltonian dynamics has been applied to study the slip-stacking dynamics. The canonical-perturbation method is employed to obtain the second-harmonic correction term in the slip-stacking Hamiltonian. The Hamiltonian approach provides a clear optimal method for choosing the slip-stacking parameter and improving stacking efficiency. The dynamics are applied specifically to the Fermilab Booster-Recycler complex. The dynamics can also be applied to other accelerator complexes.Comment: 10 p
