On the nonlinear statistics of range image patches
In [A. B. Lee, K. S. Pedersen, and D. Mumford, Int. J. Comput. Vis., 54 (2003), pp. 83–103], the authors study the distributions of 3 × 3 patches from optical images and from range images. In [G. Carlsson, T. Ishkanov, V. de Silva, and A. Zomorodian, Int. J. Comput. Vis., 76 (2008), pp.
1–12], the authors apply computational topological tools to the data set of optical patches studied by Lee, Pedersen, and Mumford and find geometric structures for high density subsets. One high density subset is called the primary circle and essentially consists of patches with a line separating a light and a dark region. In this paper, we apply the techniques of Carlsson et al. to range patches.
By enlarging to 5×5 and 7×7 patches, we find core subsets that have the topology of the primary circle, suggesting a stronger connection between optical patches and range patches than was found by Lee, Pedersen, and Mumford

Explicit formulae for Chern-Simons invariants of the hyperbolic knot orbifolds
We calculate the Chern-Simons invariants of the hyperbolic knot
orbifolds using the Schl\"{a}fli formula for the generalized Chern-Simons
function on the family of cone-manifold structures of knot. We
present the concrete and explicit formula of them. We apply the general
instructions of Hilden, Lozano, and Montesinos-Amilibia and extend the Ham and
Lee's methods to a bi-infinite family. We dealt with even slopes just as easily
as odd ones. As an application, we calculate the Chern-Simons invariants of
cyclic coverings of the hyperbolic knot orbifolds. For the
fundamental group of knot, we take and tailor Hoste and
Shanahan's. As a byproduct, we give an affirmative answer for their question
whether their presentation is actually derived from Schubert's canonical
2-bridge diagram or not.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with

Letter from Rex Lee to Representative Burdick Regarding Enrollment of Children in the Three Affiliated Tribes, October 2, 1956
This letter, dated October 2, 1956, from Acting Commissioner of the United States (US) Bureau of Indian Affairs Rex Lee to US Representative Usher Burdick responds to the appeal sent from J. K. Murray regarding the enrollment of children into the Three Affiliated Tribes. Lee notes that he has enclosed a copy of the reply that he sent to Murray. That reply is not included with this document.
