    Coworker Distributive Fairness Judgments of the Workplace Accomodations of Employees with Disabilities

    [Excerpt] I present a model of when and how coworkers judge the distributive fairness of workplace accommodations of employees with disabilities. Fairness judgments are made when accommodations are salient and relevant to coworkers. I thus present factors influencing the salience and relevance of accommodation. I also argue that fairness judgments are based on equity and need rules and therefore explore factors influencing equity comparisons and perceived warrantedness. Finally, I suggest directions and ideas for future research

    Heavy quarkonium in a holographic QCD model

    Encouraged by recent developments in AdS/QCD models for light quark system, we study heavy quarkonium in the framework of the AdS/QCD models. We calculate the masses of ccˉc\bar c vector meson states using the AdS/QCD models at zero and at finite temperature. Among the models adopted in this work, we find that the soft wall model describes the low-lying heavy quark meson states at zero temperature relatively well. At finite temperature, we observe that once the bound state is above TcT_c, its mass will increase with temperature until it dissociates at a temperature of around 494MeV494 {\rm MeV}. It is shown that the dissociation temperature is fixed by the infrared cutoff of the models. The present model serves as a unified non perturbative model to investigate the properties of bound quarkonium states above TcT_c.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure, minor revision, to appear in phys. Rev.

    A phenomenological theory of nonphotochemical laser induced nucleation

    Our analysis of the experimental data related to nonphotochemical laser induced nucleation in solutions leads to the inevitable conclusion that the phase transformation is initiated by particles that are metallic in nature. This conclusion appears paradoxical because the final products are dielectric crystals. We show that the experimental results are well accounted for by the theory of electric field induced nucleation of metallic particles that are elongated in the direction of the field. However, new physical and chemical insights are required to understand the structure of the metallic precursor particles and the kinetics of subsequent dielectric crystallization.Comment: 5 pages 4 figure

    Scaling of Anisotropic Flows and Nuclear Equation of State in Intermediate Energy Heavy Ion Collisions

    Elliptic flow (v2v_2) and hexadecupole flow (v4v_4) of light clusters have been studied in details for 25 MeV/nucleon 86^{86}Kr + 124^{124}Sn at large impact parameters by Quantum Molecular Dynamics model with different potential parameters. Four parameter sets which include soft or hard equation of state (EOS) with/without symmetry energy term are used. Both number-of-nucleon (AA) scaling of the elliptic flow versus transverse momentum (ptp_t) and the scaling of v4/A2v_4/A^{2} versus (pt/A)2(p_t/A)^2 have been demonstrated for the light clusters in all above calculation conditions. It was also found that the ratio of v4/v22v_4/{v_2}^2 keeps a constant of 1/2 which is independent of ptp_t for all the light fragments. By comparisons among different combinations of EOS and symmetry potential term, the results show that the above scaling behaviors are solid which do not depend the details of potential, while the strength of flows is sensitive to EOS and symmetry potential term.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
