Thesis(Doctoral) --KDI School:Ph.D in Public Policy,2019The purpose of this study is to provide implications on policy preparation and amendments on laws and regulations in accommodation sharing in Korea by exploring the current status of demand and supply sides. This study consists of four parts to investigate i) perceived characteristics of accommodation sharing, ii) the impact of attributes of accommodations sharing on business performance, iii) individuals’ perceptions of policy reactions, and iv) exploratory research of current laws and regulations of different countries. First, this study finds that actual preferences of accommodation sharing conflicts with the issues on laws and regulations regarding property and sharing types. Guests who prefer to share entire houses consider instrumental attributes related to properties, while guests who prefer a portion of the house consider relatively more about social interactions, sustainability, and community benefit. Sharing a portion of the houses is legal and more suitable for policy intentions because the policies promote the local economy and community recovery by maximizing the utility of resources and interactions with the community. Further, this study finds that individuals with experience of accommodation sharing tend to have more positive attitudes toward accommodation sharing and perceive more necessity of policy reactions. Among proposed policy instruments, individuals perceive local ordinances, government publicizing and campaign, trust marks, taxation, penalties, and government controls are effective to build trust in accommodation sharing. Individuals evaluate that policies geared toward the majority of the public are more effective, and governments should establish a strategic approach as to which policies are introduced in public and which role the government plays in the departments. Currently, governments have been required the incompatible roles of eliminating regulatory barriers for newly introduced sharing economy business and minimizing the damages to existing industries. This study provides policy and managerial implications what is the most important for the citizen satisfaction associated with proper preparations and amendments of laws and regulations.I. Charlene J. Sato's "Language Change in a Creole Continuum: Decreolization?"

    Get PDF
This article is on the process of decreolization in individuals and in social context. It focuses on decreolization from linguistic and sociolinguistic aspects ofthe Hawai'i creole continuum. Sato begins her article by defining the main concept 'decreolization' as "the process through which a creore language gradually merges with its lodfier ranguage, i.e., the standard language ofthe community, as a result ofcreole speakers' increased access to and 'targeting' ofthe latter" (sato, 199r, p. r22). The study of this process is useful because it can reveal the consequences of language contact and the nature of language change

Multiple Functions of Nm23-H1 Are Regulated by Oxido-Reduction System

Nucleoside diphosphate kinase (NDPK, Nm23), a housekeeping enzyme, is known to be a multifunctional protein, acting as a metastasis suppressor, transactivation activity on c-myc, and regulating endocytosis. The cellular mechanisms regulating Nm23 functions are poorly understood. In this study, we identified the modifications and interacting proteins of Nm23-H1 in response to oxidative stress. We found that Cys109 in Nm23-H1 is oxidized to various oxidation states including intra- and inter-disulfide crosslinks, glutathionylation, and sulfonic acid formation in response to H2O2 treatment both in vivo and in vitro. The cross-linking sites and modifications of oxidized Nm23-H1 were identified by peptide sequencing using UPLC-ESI-q-TOF tandem MS. Glutathionylation and oxidation of Cys109 inhibited the NDPK enzymatic activity of Nm23-H1. We also found that thioredoxin reductase 1 (TrxR1) is an interacting protein of Nm23-H1, and it binds specifically to oxidized Nm23-H1. Oxidized Nm23 is a substrate of NADPH-TrxR1-thioredoxin shuttle system, and the disulfide crosslinking is reversibly reduced and the enzymatic activity is recovered by this system. Oxidation of Cys109 in Nm23-H1 inhibited its metastatic suppressor activity as well as the enzymatic activities. The mutant, Nm23-H1 C109A, retained both the enzymatic and metastasis suppressor activities under oxidative stress. This suggests that key enzymatic and metastasis suppressor functions of Nm23-H1 are regulated by oxido-reduction of its Cys109

Exploring The Efficiency And Effectiveness Of Employment Policy Program For Vulnerable People

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between efficiency and effectiveness of employment policy programs for vulnerable people. The study conducted both qualitative and quantitative research. For qualitative research, in-depth interviews were conducted in order to examine the insights of experts in the field regarding the needs, expectations and attitudes of vulnerable people towards jobs. Quantitative research is designed for the efficiency and effectiveness of main functions including analyzing and defining targets; setting program plans; operating and delivering service; and program improvement. The results of the study indicate that the appropriate selection of target beneficiaries; attractiveness of hiring entities, well-prepared program content; funding; campaign; counselling; training; and tailored and integrated services are relevant to the efficiencies of the major functions of the program. The study provides policy implications for the application of innovative welfare service delivery and the creation of eligible labor markets for vulnerable people

The effects of floating islands planted with various hydrophytes for water quality improvement

This study was carried out for measurement of total nitrogen and total phosphorus removal effiency by each hydrophyte (Scirpus tabernaemontani, Iris pseudoacorus, Phragmites australis, Tyha angustifolia), control and All (Scirpus tabernaemontani, Iris pseudoacorus, Phragmites australis, Typha anfustifolia planted) 22 ℓ batch reactors. The highest total nitrogen removal efficiency was using 94.8% of All. The highest total phosphorus removal efficiency was 85.1% of Typha angustifolia. The effects of floating islands ont the changes in phytoplankton community structure were investigated in a small artificial pond. The floating islands planted with various emergent macrophytes coverd 35% of total water surface area of the pond. Total 17 genera and 25 species of phytoplankton were found in the pond, of which Dinophyceae was 1 genera and 1species, Cyanophyceae 1 genera and 1 species, Bacillariophycear 6 genera and 8 species, and Chlorophyceae 9 genera and 15 species. Dominant phytoplnaktons under floating islands were changes from Aphanizomenon sp. as a Cyanophycear for 56 days after the construction of floating islands on July 24, 2001. The changes of dominant phytoplanktons of the control without floating islands were similar to those under floating islands in July and August, but Aphanizomenon sp. was rapidly increased in the control sites in September. About 99% of the cell number of Aphanizomenon sp. was disappeared for a month after construction of floating islands. Our results showed that the floating islands could be a useful eco-technique for the control of water bloom by Cyanophyceae and Chlorophyceae in a pond ecosystem.Article信州大学山地水環境教育研究センター研究報告 2: 121-126(2004)departmental bulletin pape

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS SOFTWARE FOR MULTIPLICATIVE INTERACTION MODELS

    Get PDF
In a two-way cross-classified experiment, one is almost always interested in whether the two factors interact or not. When there are no independent replications, there are no traditional tests for interaction. This research considers the problem of analyzing a two-way cross-classified experiment using multiplicative interaction models when there are no independent replications and interaction between the two factors may exist. The purpose of this research is to develop SAS® macros to provide user-friendly statistical software for the analysis of interaction in two-way experiments. The macros also provide many useful graphical displays including displays to help one determine the pattern of interaction when a pattern exists and to help one interpret the results of the analyses
