    Labor productivity and natural resources: an assessment at the national level in Honduras

    The study establishes the link between agricultural labor productivity and natural resources variables at the national level in Honduras. We show through spatial analysis of productivity and natural resources that the relationship between natural resource conditions and agricultural productivity is not as direct as one can imagine. Soil has little impact on productivity as well as slope and altitude since coffee production in the mountain has a strong relation on productivity. Access to the main cities and to the main seaports has little relation with productivity since some of the main cities are located in unproductive areas. Improving the small road network would have a more positive impact. The study suggests that good research and good policies can have a good impact on productivity

    Stress, trauma, and posttraumatic stress disorder in migrants: a comprehensive review

    Objective: There is growing evidence supporting the association between migration and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Considering the growing population of migrants and the particularities of providing culturally sensitive mental health care for these persons, clinicians should be kept up to date with the latest information regarding this topic. The objective of this study was to critically review the literature regarding migration, trauma and PTSD, and mental health services. Methods: The PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, and ISI Web of Science databases were searched for articles published in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French, and indexed from inception to 2017. The following keywords were used: migration, mental health, mental health services, stress, posttraumatic stress disorder, and trauma. Results: Migration is associated with specific stressors, mainly related to the migratory experience and to the necessary process of acculturation occurring in adaptation to the host country. These major stressors have potential consequences in many areas, including mental health. The prevalence of PTSD among migrants is very high (47%), especially among refugees, who experience it at nearly twice the rate of migrant workers.     Crystal isomorphisms in Fock spaces and Schensted correspondence in affine type A

    We are interested in the structure of the crystal graph of level ll Fock spaces representations of Uq(sle^)\mathcal{U}_q (\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_e}). Since the work of Shan [26], we know that this graph encodes the modular branching rule for a corresponding cyclotomic rational Cherednik algebra. Besides, it appears to be closely related to the Harish-Chandra branching graph for the appropriate finite unitary group, according to [8]. In this paper, we make explicit a particular isomorphism between connected components of the crystal graphs of Fock spaces. This so-called "canonical" crystal isomorphism turns out to be expressible only in terms of: - Schensted's classic bumping procedure, - the cyclage isomorphism defined in [13], - a new crystal isomorphism, easy to describe, acting on cylindric multipartitions. We explain how this can be seen as an analogue of the bumping algorithm for affine type AA. Moreover, it yields a combinatorial characterisation of the vertices of any connected component of the crystal of the Fock space

    Low- and intermediate-temperature ammonia/hydrogen oxidation in a flow reactor: Experiments and a wide-range kinetic modeling

    Understanding the chemistry behind the oxidation of ammonia/hydrogen mixtures is crucial for ensuring the flexible use of such mixtures in several applications, related to propulsion systems and power generation. In this work, the oxidation of ammonia/hydrogen blends was investigated through an experimental and kinetic-modeling study, where the low- and intermediate-temperature conditions were considered. An experimental campaign was performed in a flow reactor, at stoichiometric conditions and near-atmospheric pressure (126.7 kPa). The mole fraction of fuels, oxidizer and final products was measured. At the same time, a comprehensive kinetic model was set up, following a modular and hierarchical approach, and implementing the recently-available elementary rates. Such a model was used to interpret the experimental results, and to extend the analysis to literature data, covering several oxidation features. The reactivity boost provided by H2 addition was found to be approximately linear with its mole fraction in both flow- and jet-stirred-reactor conditions (except for the smallest H2 amounts in the flow reactor), in contrast with the more-than-linear increase in the laminar flame speed. The key role of HO2 in regulating fuel conversion and autoignition at low temperature was confirmed for binary mixtures, with H2NO being the bottleneck to the low-temperature oxidation of NH3-rich blends. On the other hand, the nitrogen fate was found to be mostly regulated by NHx + NO propagation and termination channels

    Comparison of systemic, compartmental and CFD modelling approaches: Application to the simulation of a biological reactor of wastewater treatment

    Nowadays there exist two main approaches to simulate the hydrodynamics of chemical reactors: the systemic method, based on the description of a given reactor as a limited number of elementary reactors, and the more theoretical CFD approach, based on the resolution of the Navier-Stokes equations in a large number of computing cells. This work describes another recent modelling approach based on the description of the reactor as a network of both structural and functional compartments. The complete methodology to build such a model, using CFD simulations, tracer experiments, mass transfer and chemical processes, is described. The simulation results with such a model are then compared to those obtained with the systemic and CFD models in the case of a biological gas-liquid reactor for wastewater treatment, involving oxygen transfer and complex biological kinetics. This work shows that the compartmental model gives results very similar to those of a full CFD simulation but with lower calculation time (10 times in most cases) with the advantage of remaining almost as simple to manipulate as the systemic approach
