Tanis
Datalog+, RuleML and OWL 2: Formats and Translations for Existential Rules
International audienceThis paper is devoted to formats and translations for Datalog+. We first introduce the dlgp format, which extends classical Datalog format to Datalog+. It allows to encode facts, existential rules (including equality), negative constraints and conjunctive queries. Moreover, for compatibility with Semantic Web languages, this format includes Web notions (IRIs and literals, according to Turtle syntax). Second, we define a translation from dlgp to the Datalog+ fragment of RuleML. Third, we define a translation from OWL 2 to dlgp. We point out that the composition of both translations allows to import OWL 2 to RuleML. The associated parsers and translators are available
Kinked silicon nanowires-enabled interweaving electrode configuration for lithium-ion batteries
A tri-dimensional interweaving kinked silicon nanowires (k-SiNWs) assembly, with a Ni current collector co-integrated, is evaluated as electrode configuration for lithium ion batteries. The large-scale fabrication of k-SiNWs is based on a procedure for continuous metal assisted chemical etching of Si, supported by a chemical peeling step that enables the reuse of the Si substrate. The kinks are triggered by a simple, repetitive etch-quench sequence in a HF and H2O2-based etchant. We find that the inter-locking frameworks of k-SiNWs and multi-walled carbon nanotubes exhibit beneficial mechanical properties with a foam-like behavior amplified by the kinks and a suitable porosity for a minimal electrode deformation upon Li insertion. In addition, ionic liquid electrolyte systems associated with the integrated Ni current collector repress the detrimental effects related to the Si-Li alloying reaction, enabling high cycling stability with 80% capacity retention (1695 mAh/gSi) after 100 cycles. Areal capacities of 2.42 mAh/cm2 (1276 mAh/gelectrode) can be achieved at the maximum evaluated thickness (corresponding to 1.3 mgSi/cm2). This work emphasizes the versatility of the metal assisted chemical etching for the synthesis of advanced Si nanostructures for high performance lithium ion battery electrodes
Measurement of the Transition Temperature Governing the Photoinduced Reversible Solid-to-Liquid Transition of Azobenzene-Containing Polymers
peer reviewedThe ability to observe photoinduced reversible solid-to-liquid transitions for some polymers bearing photo-active azobenzene groups (azopolymers) has become a competitive research field in materials science and technology because of their potential applications in photocontrolled adhesives, photohealable materials, or soft lithography. Unfortunately, methods to accurately characterize this transition are scarce and mainly qualitative, which limits the understanding of the parameters governing it. In the first part of this paper, we will show that the photoinduced reversible solid-to-liquid transition can be associated to a transition temperature (named TSL). This transition temperature can be accurately measured using a scanning probe microscopy-based method. Then, the measurement of TSL on azopolymers with different chemical structures will allow us to understand why the experimental irradiation conditions to observe the solid-to-liquid transition were different. With the possibility to accurately characterize the photoinduced solid-to-liquid transition, we believe that this work paves the way to the optimization of azopolymer design for a better photocontrol of their mechanical properties
Griwes: Generic Model and Preliminary Specifications for a Graph-Based Knowledge Representation Toolkit
International audienceGriwes is an initiative to develop a common model and an open-source freeware platform shared by different graph-based frameworks. We provide an overview of its objectives, architecture and specifications. We detail some of the basic mathematical structures that are used to characterize the primitives for graph-based knowledge representation. We then propose to factorize recurrent knowledge representation primitives that can be shared across specific graph-based languages and we provide a proof of concept by showing how two languages (Simple Conceptual Graphs and RDF) can be described in this framework
The European Reference Genome Atlas: piloting a decentralised approach to equitable biodiversity genomics
A genomic database of all Earth’s eukaryotic species could contribute to many scientific discoveries; however, only a tiny fraction of species have genomic information available. In 2018, scientists across the world united under the Earth BioGenome Project (EBP), aiming to produce a database of high-quality reference genomes containing all ~1.5 million recognized eukaryotic species. As the European node of the EBP, the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) sought to implement a new decentralised, equitable and inclusive model for producing reference genomes. For this, ERGA launched a Pilot Project establishing the first distributed reference genome production infrastructure and testing it on 98 eukaryotic species from 33 European countries. Here we outline the infrastructure and explore its effectiveness for scaling high-quality reference genome production, whilst considering equity and inclusion. The outcomes and lessons learned provide a solid foundation for ERGA while offering key learnings to other transnational, national genomic resource projects and the EBP.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
