    Studies related to the Libras lexicon are still scarce, due to the recognition of this as language being recent. As for onomastic studies, their lack is even greater; in this way, there is a need to turn our gaze towards the insertion of Libras toponyms in general dictionaries. In this sense, the present work aims to perform a survey of toponym signs present in the Illustrated Dictionary of Libras (BRANDÃO, 2011) to analyze its microstructure, especially the information present in its microparadigms, consonant or Faulstich model (2010). For this purpose, we use as reference the onomastic studies of Dick (1992), Andrade (2011) and Castiglioni (2014). We also aided the study of Souza Junior (2012), for having pioneered research on toponyms in Libras

    Design optimization of conformal cooling channels for injection molds: 3D transient heat transfer analysis

    This research aims to enhance the design of an injection mold in order to minimize ejection time and increase temperature uniformity by repositioning cooling channels. For 3D transient thermal simulations, the ANSYS finite element method (FEM) program was employed, while the MATLAB program was used for optimization. It was discovered that the method could be used successfully to optimize the design of Conformal Cooling Channels (CCCs) in injection molds. The objective function value of the optimized model represents a near 40% improvement in relation to the initial model. The combined parameterization, simulation, and optimization method has proven beneficial for enhancing the arrangement of channels in an injection machine mold. The methodology is generalizable.     Design, simulation and optimization of conformal cooling channels in injection molds: a review

    The manufacturing of conformal cooling channels (CCC’s) is now easier and more affordable, owing to the recent developments in the field of additive manufacturing. The use of CCC’s allows better cooling performances than the conventional (straight-drilled) channels, in the injection molding process. The main reason is that CCC’s can follow the pathways of the molded geometry, while the conventional channels, manufactured by traditional machining techniques, are not able to do so. Some of the parameters that can be significantly improved by the use of CCC are cooling time, total injection time, uniform temperature distribution, thermal stress, warpage thickness. However, the design process for CCC is more complex than for conventional channels. Computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulations are important for achieving effective and affordable design. This review article focuses the main aspects related to the use of CCC’s in injection molding, as follows: Sect. 1 presents an introduction, which focuses on the most important facts about the topic of this paper. Section 2 presents a comparison between straight cooling channels and conformal cooling channels. In Sect. 3, the theoretical background of injection molding is presented. In Sects. 3 to 7, the manufacturing, design, simulation and optimization of CCC’s are presented, respectively.     Deracemizacija (RS)-1-[(4-metilselanil)fenil]etanola i (RS)-1-[(4-etilselanil)fenil]etanola s pomoću sojeva Aspergillus terreus

    The fungal strains Aspergillus terreus URM 3371 and A. terreus CCT 4083, isolated in Brazil, catalysed the deracemization of (RS)-1-[(4-methylselanyl)phenyl]ethanol (1) and (RS)-1-[(4-ethylselanyl)phenyl]ethanol (2). Different mass of whole fungal cells (1–5 g), pH values (4 and 7), biotransformation temperature (20 and 32 °C) and additives (ethanol, butanol, propanol and cyclohexanol) were employed in attempt to improve product yield and selectivity. The A. terreus strain URM 3371 transformed (RS)-1 into (+)-(R)-1 with high enantiomeric excess (e.e.≥98 %), good conversion (≥98 %) and acceptable yield (53 %).Sojevi plijesni Aspergillus terreus URM 3371 i A. terreus CCT 4083, izolirani u Brazilu, katalizirali su deracemizaciju (RS)-1-[(4-metilselanil)fenil]etanola (1) i (RS)-1-[(4-etilselanil)fenil]etanola (2). Upotrijebljene su cijele stanice plijesni različite mase (1-5 g), pri različitoj pH-vrijednosti (4 i 7) i temperaturi biotransformacije (20 i 32 °C), uz dodatak raznih aditiva (etanol, butanol, propanol i cikloheksanol) radi poboljšanja prinosa i selektivnosti proizvoda.     DO LÉXICO ERÓTICO-OBSCENO: COTEJO LEXICOGRÁFICO ENTRE VARIANTES NA LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA E NA LIBRAS

    Estudos relacionados ao léxico erótico-obsceno no âmbito da língua portuguesa têm alcançado assaz desenvolvimento, especialmente com Orsi (2013), Orsi e Zavaglia (2012) etc. Em contrapartida, desconhecemos trabalhos desta natureza na Libras; por este motivo, este trabalho é um pontapé inicial para que se realizem incursões mais aprofundadas sobre o léxico tabu na Libras. A fim de realizar o confronto entre o seu registro lexicográfico nas duas línguas, efetuamos o cotejo entre lexemas relacionados aos órgãos sexuais masculino e feminino e ao ato sexual nos dicionários de Ferreira (2004), Houaiss, Villar e Franco (2007), Capovilla, Raphael e Mauricio (2013) e Brandão (2011). Studies related to the erotic-obscene lexicon within the portuguese language have achieved great development, especially with Orsi (2013), Orsi and Zavaglia (2012) etc. On the other hand, we do not know of such works in Libras; for this reason, this work is an initial kick-off for deep incursions on the tabu lexicon in Libras. In order to make a comparison between his lexicographic record in both languages, we compare lexemes related to the male and female sexual organs and the sexual act in the dictionaries of Ferreira (2004), Houaiss, Villar e Franco (2007), Capovilla, Raphael e Mauricio (2013) and Brandão (2011).

    Desenvolvimento de uma reação em cadeia pela polimerase e comparação com a imunodifusão em gel de agar na detecção de infecções pelo vírus da leucemia bovina

    Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used for bovine leukemia virus (BLV) detection in the peripheral leukocytes of the infected bovines. The primers used were designed to amplify a part of env gene of BLV. PCR products were analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis stained by ethidium bromide. The analytical specificity of PCR was confirmed by enzymatic restriction analysis of the PCR product with Bam HI and also by nucleotide sequence analysis of three PCR samples. Sixty five animals were tested for anti-BLV antibody, by agar gel-immunodiffusion test (AGID) and for direct BLV detection by PCR. There was a 73.80% concordance rate between the two tests. Four animals positive in AGID were PCR negative, while 13 AGID negative animals were found PCR positive. PCR got a 0.87 diagnosis sensitivity and 0.62 specificity. The developed PCR may be complementary tool in the diagnosis of BLV infection, but should have it diagnosis sensitivity improved.A reação em cadeia pela polimerase (PCR) foi utilizada para a detecção do vírus da leucemia bovina (VLB) em leucócitos periféricos de bovinos infectados. Os iniciadores utilizados foram construídos para amplificar uma parte do gene env do VLB. Os produtos da PCR foram analisados por eletroforese em gel de agarose corados por brometo de etídeo. A especificidade analítica da PCR foi confirmada por restrição enzimática dos produtos da reação com Bam HI e também pela análise da seqüência de três amostras. Sessenta e cinco animais foram testados para a presença de anticorpos anti-VLB, pela imunodifusão em gel de agar (IDGA) e pela PCR, para detecção direta do VLB. Houve 73,80% de concordância entre os dois testes. Quatro animais positivos na IDGA foram PCR negativos, enquanto 13 animais negativos na IDGA foram positivos na PCR. A sensibilidade diagnóstica obtida foi de 0,87 e a especificidade diagnóstica 0,62. A PCR desenvolvida pode ser uma ferramenta complementar no diagnóstico de infecções causadas pelo VLB, mas deve ter sua sensibilidade diagnóstica melhorada

    SPATIAL AND LIMNOLOGICAL CARACTERIZATION OF THE PARAGUAI RIVER FLOODPLAIN AREA, SOUTHERN PANTANAL, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE 'DECOADA' PHENOMENON

    The objective of this study is to contribute to improve understanding of the ‘Decoada’ phenomenon, the local term for the seasonal alteration of limnological parameters, including depletion of dissolved oxygen that can cause natural fish kills, in the Pantanal Wetlands (Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil). Two water bodies, adjacent to the Paraguay River (Baía Tuiuiú and Bracinho) were studied over a hydrological period (April 2008 to February 2009). The sampling plan was prepared using GIS tools. In each environment a grid of 2 per 12 square cells of 70 meters side was created. It was positioned in its center to guide the sampling during rising and flood phases as well as in the drainage and low-water phases. The bimonthly sampling included ten randomly selected sample points. The measured limnological variables were ordinate, using a PCA for each studied site. A strong influence of the flood pulse was observed on them, with particular changes occurring during the ‘decoada’ phenomeno

    NOTA CIENTÍFICA: AVALIAÇÃO DO VALOR NUTRITIVO DO FARELO DE GIRASSOL PARA AVES

    O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a composição nutricional do farelo de girassol solvente produzido no Estado de Goiás. Foram alojados 168 pintos de corte da linhagem Ross em baterias metálicas visando determinar tanto o conteúdo de energia metabolizável pela técnica da coleta total de excretas quanto a composição proximal de nutrientes do farelo de girassol. Os valores de energia metabolizável aparente e aparente corrigida (1.777,23 e 1.523,93 kcal/kg, respectivamente) foram semelhantes aos preconizados pelas tabelas do NRC (1994) (1.543 kcal/kg), e normais para proteína (27,36 %). Entretanto, os níveis de fibra foram altos (42,15 % para FDN e 31,68 % para FDA), o que torna seu uso para aves bastante limitado.
