Factors affecting the level of bank competition : empirical evidence in Vietnamese commercial banks

    Get PDF
Purpose: There is increasing interest in the trends and requirements associated with improvement in the competition of commercial banks. Many studies have been conducted on this topic in Vietnam as well as in the rest of the world. In the present study, the factors affecting the level of competition in the banking system in Vietnam have been studied. Design/Methodology/Approach: We employ the Bayesian Multilevel Generalized Linear Model to identify the factors affecting the level of competition in the banking system in Vietnam. Findings: The findings show that the eight variables that affect the level of competition in Vietnam commercial banks were identified, including previous-year competition, equity on total assets ratio, loans on total assets ratio, operating expense on the operating income ratio, return on equity, bank size, economic growth, and inflation rate. Moreover, the results demonstrated that during the 2008–2009 crisis, there was a positive relationship between the crisis and the Lerner index. Practical Implications: Based on the research results, we provide policy implications to improve the competitive status of commercial banks in Vietnam. Originality/Value: The results of the present study would serve as a basis for assisting the policy-makers and the other stakeholders to better understand the current state of bank competition and the factors affecting the level of bank competition, which would assist them in formulating strategies and solutions to improve bank competition in Vietnam.peer-reviewe

Policy of mobilizing financial resources for developing new countryside in Vietnam

    Get PDF
Financial resources and the institutional framework, as well as policies for mobilizing financial resources, are important issues that need to be addressed in the construction of new countryside in Vietnam. Financial resources for the new countryside mainly come from the state budget, credit sources, investments from enterprises, contributions, and support from organizations, individuals, and the local community. In recent years, the state has paid attention to financial investment and issued policies to mobilize financial resources for the new countryside. Through these policies, Vietnam's rural areas have achieved important results, with rural areas being renewed, the economy being developed, and the living standards of the people being improved. However, statistical analysis and research results show that, alongside the achievements, financial resources for new countryside have not yet satisfied the needs, and the policies for mobilizing resources are sluggish to innovate and have neither fully exploited the potential of rural areas nor effectively mobilized resources from the state and society. The state budget resources for investing in the new countryside are limited, and the investment resources from enterprises have yielded low results. Contributions from the people and the local community are voluntary and have not become the main resources mobilized for the new countryside. Based on the research results, the author proposes some solutions to improve the policies for mobilizing financial resources for the new countryside in Vietnam

Cell-matrix and cell-cell interaction mechanics in guiding migration

    Get PDF
Physical properties of tissue are increasingly recognised as major regulatory cues affecting cell behaviours, particularly cell migration. While these properties of the extracellular matrix have been extensively discussed, the contribution from the cellular components that make up the tissue are still poorly appreciated. In this mini-review, we will discuss two major physical components: stiffness and topology with a stronger focus on cell-cell interactions and how these can impact cell migration

THE FACTORS AFFECT CONSUMERS’ INTENTION TO PURCHASE ECO-FRIENDLY BAGS IN HAIPHONG CITY

This research focuses on understanding the factors that influence consumers' intention to purchase environmentally friendly bags in Hai Phong City. There are 5 factors proposed to be included in the research model. However, with the collected data from 328 Hai Phong consumers tested using the SMARTPLS software, the testing results showed that 3 factors positively influence the intention to purchase environmentally friendly bags, which the factor with the greatest influence is "Expectations for a good life for future generations" (KVCS) (0.394), followed by the factor "Personal Image" (HACN) (0.219) and finally the factor "Attitude towards eco-friendly bags" (TD) (0.150). The results of testing the factors "Green Marketing Programs" (MX) and "Environmental Understanding" (HBMT) are not statistically significant enough to influence the intention to purchase environmentally friendly bags of consumers in Hai Phong City. With the above testing results, the research team exchanged and discussed ideas to convey messages and encourage consumers to use environmentally friendly bags

Curie Temperature of Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors: the Influence of the Antiferromagnetic Exchange Interaction

The coherent potential approximation and mean field approximation are used to calculate the free energy of the coupled carrier – localized spin system in III-V diluted magnetic semiconductors. Thus the magnetic transition temperature Tc can be determined and its dependence on important model parameters. We show that the strong antiferromagnetic superexchange interaction between nearest neighbour sites considerably reduces the Curie temperature

Indigenous knowledge is an important cultural element in the coastal community, which is constantly created, fostered, and transmitted between generations through production, application, and application. dealing with nature and social relations in the community. This article analyzes the correlation between Ben Tre marine knowledge and Central sea knowledge, presents knowledge related to weather forecasting and response to climate changes in the community of residents and fishermen in the coastal province of Ben Tre. The research results are the collected documents to prove the origin and characteristics of the indigenous knowledge in the coastal areas of Ben Tre province in adapting to the natural environment, contributing to the completion of studies on anthropology. sea in Ben Tre province
