    Capillary-gravity water waves with vorticity : steady wind-driven waves and waves with a submerged dipole

    In this thesis, we study two mathematical problems on water waves in the setting of the incompressible Euler equations with vorticity, gravity, and surface tension. We investigate the existence of small-amplitude steady wind-driven water waves in finite depth, using the Crandall Rabinowitz theorem. As part of the result, elliptic equations with transmission and Wentzell boundary conditons are also examined, and Schauder type estimates on classical solutions are established. The second chapter considers the existence and instability of solitary water waves with a nite dipole in in nite depth. We construct waves of this type using an Implicit Function Theorem argument. Then we establish orbital instability. This is proved using a modi cation of the classical Grillaks Shatash Strauss method.Includes bibliographical reference

    Design of a Configurable 4-Channel Analog Front-End for EEG Signal Acquisition on 180nm CMOS Process

    In this work, a 4-channel Analog Front-End (AFE) circuit has been proposed for EEG signal recording. For EEG recording systems, the AFE may handle a wide range of sensor inputs with high input impedance, adjustable gain, low noise, and wide bandwidth. The buffer or current-to-voltage converter block (BCV), which can be set to operate as a buffer or a current-to-voltage converter circuit, is positioned between the electrode and the main amplifier stages of the AFE to achieve high input impedance and work with sensor signal types. A chopper capacitively-coupled instrumentation amplifier (CCIA) is positioned after the BCV as the main amplifier stage of the AFE to reduce input-referred noise and balance the impedance of the overall AFE system. A programmable gain amplifier (PGA) is the third stage of the AFE that allows the overall gain of the AFE to be adjusted. The suggested AFE operates in a wide frequency range of 0.5 Hz to 2 kHz with a high input impedance bigger than 2TΩ, and it is constructed and simulated using a 180nm CMOS process. With the lowest 100-dB CMRR and low input-referred noise of 1.8 µVrms, the AFE can achieve low noise efficiency. EEG signals can be acquired with this AFE system, which is very useful for detecting epilepsy and seizures

    Broadcast Gossip Based Distributed Hypothesis Testing in Wireless Sensor Networks

    We consider the scenario that N sensors collaborate to observe a single event. The sensors are distributed and can only exchange messages through a network to reach a consensus about the observed event. In this paper, we propose a very robust and simple method using broadcast gossip algorithm to solve the distributed hypothesis testing problem. The simulation result shows that our method has good performance and is very energy efficient comparing to existing methods

    Survey on Vietnamese teachers’ perspectives and perceived support during COVID-19

    The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented damage to the educational system worldwide. Besides the measurable economic impacts in the short-term and long-term, there is intangible destruction within educational institutions. In particular, teachers – the most critical intellectual resources of any schools – have to face various types of financial, physical, and mental struggles due to COVID-19. To capture the current context of more than one million Vietnamese teachers during COVID-19, we distributed an e- survey to more than 2,500 randomly selected teachers from two major teacher communities on Facebook from 6th to 11th April 2020. From over 373 responses, we excluded the observations which violated our cross-check questions and retained 294 observations for further analysis. This dataset includes: (i) Demographics of participants; (ii) Teachers' perspectives regarding the operation of teaching activities during the pandemic; (iii) Teachers' received support from their schools, government bodies, other stakeholders such as teacher unions, and parents' associations; and (iv) teachers' evaluation of school readiness toward digital transformation. Further, the dataset was supplemented with an additional question on the teachers' primary source of professional development activities during the pandemic
