    Deletion in human chromosome region 12q13-15 by integration of human papillomavirus DNA in a cervical carcinoma cell line

    In human cervical carcinomas papillomavirus DNA is frequently integrated in the cell genome. We have cloned the integration site of human papillomavirus-18 DNA in human chromosome region 12q13-15 present in the SW756 cervical carcinoma cell line. Viral DNA is broken from nucleotides 2643 to 3418 in the E1 and E2 open reading frames, resulting in a deletion of 775 bases of viral DNA. Cloning and sequence analysis of the rearranged and germline alleles shows that there is no homology between the target cellular and viral DNA, suggesting it is a nonhomologous recombination. The target cellular region is called papillomavirus associated locus 2 (PAL2). The 5'- and 3'-flanking probes derived from the hybrid viral-cellular clone detect completely different germline restriction fragments in DNA from cells with normal chromosome 12. There is no overlap between the restriction maps of the target germline clones obtained with 5'- and 3'-flanking probes. Probes from these germline clones beyond the breakpoint position do not detect any DNA rearrangement in SW756 cells DNA. These data prove that there is a deletion of cellular DNA as consequence of the integration, with an estimated minimum size of 14 kilobases. Both cellular flanking probes are outside the amplicon of this chromosome region identified in the OSA and RMS13 sarcoma cell lines, comprising SAS-CHOP-CDK4-MDM2 genes and where translocation breakpoints are located in liposarcomas.     Professional Skills and Profiles in Journalism Demanded by Companies: Analysis of Offers at LinkedIn and Infojobs

    The goal of this research is to analyze whether the profiles and professional skills in journalism demanded by companies in Spain correspond to those compiled in the Libro Blanco of the ANECA, or whether they have been modified over a decade later by the impact of the digital era and emergence of new employment needs. In the current setting of rapid and unpredictable changes, periodic analyses and research like this study are necessary. The methodology chosen was the analysis of the content of job offers directed to journalism graduates on the two most used job portals in Spain, Infojobs and LinkedIn, in September 2017. All the information in the offers was organized into two categories related to descriptive data about types of contracts and data over required skills. The results led to the conclusion that the professional skills currently demanded of journalism graduates differ qualitatively and quantitatively from the professional skills described by the ANECA in 2005. The skills most demanded by companies respond to the emergence of new professional profiles related to Web 2.0. However, it is also the case that companies do not seem to know precisely what skills a journalism graduate must have

    Extended States in a One-dimensional Generalized Dimer Model

    The transmission coefficient for a one dimensional system is given in terms of Chebyshev polynomials using the tight-binding model. This result is applied to a system composed of two impurities located between NN sites of a host lattice. It is found that the system has extended states for several values of the energy. Analytical expressions are given for the impurity site energy in terms of the electron's energy. The number of resonant states grows like the number of host sites between the impurities. This property makes the system interesting since it is a simple task to design a configuration with resonant energy very close to the Fermi level EFE_F.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

    High-speed noise-free optical quantum memory

    Quantum networks promise to revolutionise computing, simulation, and communication. Light is the ideal information carrier for quantum networks, as its properties are not degraded by noise in ambient conditions, and it can support large bandwidths enabling fast operations and a large information capacity. Quantum memories, devices that store, manipulate, and release on demand quantum light, have been identified as critical components of photonic quantum networks, because they facilitate scalability. However, any noise introduced by the memory can render the device classical by destroying the quantum character of the light. Here we introduce an intrinsically noise-free memory protocol based on two-photon off-resonant cascaded absorption (ORCA). We consequently demonstrate for the first time successful storage of GHz-bandwidth heralded single photons in a warm atomic vapour with no added noise; confirmed by the unaltered photon statistics upon recall. Our ORCA memory platform meets the stringent noise-requirements for quantum memories whilst offering technical simplicity and high-speed operation, and therefore is immediately applicable to low-latency quantum networks

    Desde el estudio comparativo de los contenidos y la escenografía, gracias al visionado y a las entrevistas de los formatos El Hormiguero y El Intermedio y de las nuevas apuestas televisivas, Lo Siguiente y Ese programa del que usted me habla, se determina que todos utilizan la actualidad y que los contenidos de estos estos proyectos incluyen entrevistas y humor. Para ello, se sirven de herramientas como la sátira, los recursos visuales o los monólogos resultando para el espectador cuatro alternativas audiovisuales cuyas escenografías novedosas y dispares entre sí, varían entre platós de entrevistas de estilo informativo a alternativas preparadas para todo tipo de pruebas. Con la investigación se ha constado la multiplicación de ofertas programáticas de espacios de periodismo de humor en el access prime time en la temporada 2018-2019, aunque, las dos nuevas apuestas de la televisión pública no hayan perdurado frente a los proyectos longevos. From the comparative study of the contents and the scenery, thanks to the viewing andinterviews of the formats El Hormiguero and El Intermedio and of the new television bets, Lo Siguiente and Ese programa del que usted me habla, it is determined that everyone uses the newsand that the contents of these projects include interviews and humor. For this purpose, tools suchas satire, visual resources or monologues to give the viewer four audiovisual options whose setdesign vary taking into consideration the bases of interviews with references to format, informative style or prepared alternatives for all kinds of tests. With the investigation, the multiplication of programmatic offers of humor journalism spaces in the access prime time in the 2018-2019 season has been confirmed, although the two new bets of public television have notresisted long-term projects
