Venturing into schools : locating mental health initiatives in complex environments
Schools provide viable settings for mental health promotion initiatives, such as programs to develop students’ social and emotional capabilities (SEC). Complexity in the school
environments into which initiatives are introduced, such as diverse student capabilities,
school structures, and teachers’ knowledge and confidence, will play an integral role in the success of those initiatives. This paper investigates the environments of schools about to receive the KidsMatter mental heath promotion, prevention and early intervention initiative in Australia, using information sourced from questionnaires about 2598 students and their teachers in 50 Australian primary schools. The focus of the report is on the status of the schools’ work in one of the key focus areas for the intervention, namely students’ SEC. Analysis showed relatively high levels of students’ SEC across the whole sample, but with sub-group differences. Teachers’ attitudes towards SEC learning were highly positive. Teachers’ self-rated knowledge and approaches in dealing with SEC were moderate, and point to requirements for additional pre-service and professional development. The extent of regular and sustained delivery of SEC programs and mental health initiatives in general showed variability, suggesting the need to attend to school systems and structural supports. Implications of these areas of diversity in school environments on the selection and methods of delivery of mental health promotion programs in schools are discussed.peer-reviewe

A mapping approach to synchronization in the "Zajfman trap". II: the observed bunch
We extend a recently introduced mapping model, which explains the bunching
phenomenon in an ion beam resonator for two ions [Geyer, Tannor, J. Phys. B 37
(2004) 73], to describe the dynamics of the whole ion bunch. We calculate the
time delay of the ions from a model of the bunch geometry and find that the
bunch takes on a spherical form at the turning points in the electrostatic
mirrors. From this condition we derive how the observed bunch length depends on
the experimental parameters. We give an interpretation of the criteria for the
existence of the bunch, which were derived from the experimental observations
by Pedersen et al [Pedersen etal, Phys. Rev. A 65 042704].Comment: 25 pages, 6 figures; added new section 5 and clarified text;

Activities of \gamma-ray emitting isotopes in rainwater from Greater Sudbury, Canada following the Fukushima incident
We report the activity measured in rainwater samples collected in the Greater
Sudbury area of eastern Canada on 3, 16, 20, and 26 April 2011. The samples
were gamma-ray counted in a germanium detector and the isotopes 131I and 137Cs,
produced by the fission of 235U, and 134Cs, produced by neutron capture on
133Cs, were observed at elevated levels compared to a reference sample of
ice-water. These elevated activities are ascribed to the accident at the
Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear reactor complex in Japan that followed the 11 March
earthquake and tsunami. The activity levels observed at no time presented

Green revelations in a country of drought, flood and fire : a case study of Abrahamic faith communities and sustainability
This paper reports research into the levels of awareness and engagement of Abrahamic communities regarding environmental sustainability in the State of Victoria, Australia. Seventeen faith groups were targeted for study at 22 locations throughout Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne; with 15 in-depth interviews completed. The study suggests that personal awareness does not always translate well into group action, resulting in conflicting positions within denominations on how to respond to environmental issues. Some denominations have funding and human resources to support environmental programs. Smaller groups struggle to maintain numbers, are trying to expand, or do not participate because of fundamentally different worldviews
Basic linear algebra subprograms for FORTRAN usage
A package of 38 low level subprograms for many of the basic operations of numerical linear algebra is presented. The package is intended to be used with FORTRAN. The operations in the package are dot products, elementary vector operations, Givens transformations, vector copy and swap, vector norms, vector scaling, and the indices of components of largest magnitude. The subprograms and a test driver are available in portable FORTRAN. Versions of the subprograms are also provided in assembly language for the IBM 360/67, the CDC 6600 and CDC 7600, and the Univac 1108
The Energy-Momentum tensor on manifolds
On manifolds, we study the Energy-Momentum tensor associated with a
spinor field. First, we give a spinorial Gauss type formula for oriented
hypersurfaces of a manifold. Using the notion of generalized
cylinders, we derive the variationnal formula for the Dirac operator under
metric deformation and point out that the Energy-Momentum tensor appears
naturally as the second fundamental form of an isometric immersion. Finally, we
show that generalized Killing spinors for Codazzi Energy-Momentum

Quantum Oscillations in CuBiSe in High Magnetic Fields
CuBiSe has drawn much attention as the leading candidate to be
the first topological superconductor and the realization of coveted Majorana
particles in a condensed matter system. However, there has been increasing
controversy about the nature of its superconducting phase. This study sheds
light on present ambiguity in the normal state electronic state, by providing a
complete look at the quantum oscillations in magnetization in
CuBiSe at intense high fields up to 31T. Our study focuses on the
angular dependence of the quantum oscillation pattern in a low carrier
concentration. As magnetic field tilts from along the crystalline c-axis to
ab-plane, the change of the oscillation period follows the prediction of the
ellipsoidal Fermi surface. As the doping level changes, the 3D Fermi surface is
found to transform into quasi-cylindrical at high carrier density. Such a
transition is potentially a Lifshitz transition of the electronic state in

Living with the user: Design drama for dementia care through responsive scripted experiences in the home
Participation in forms of drama and narrative can provoke empathy and creativity in user-centred design processes. In this paper, we expand upon existing methods to explore the potential for responsive scripted experiences that are delivered through the combination of sensors and output devices placed in a home. The approach is being developed in the context of Dementia care, where the capacity for rich user participation in design activities is limited. In this case, a system can act as a proxy for a person with Dementia, allowing designers to gain experiences and insight as to what it is like to provide care for, and live with, this person.
