Qualitative Erosion Studies on The Rubber Cultivation of The People Age 15 Years In the village of Lau Damak Bahorok subdistrict Langkat. The study aims to determine the qualitative erosion in the area of cultivation by using descriptive method with sampling technique based on stratified random sampling method. Research analyzing various parameters such as pH level of soil fertility, texture, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC). Organic C, N-total, P-available, K can be exchanged (K-dd) and Bulk Density. The results show that the qualitative erosion that occurs in the area of rubber cultivation people aged 15 years in the village of Lau Damak Bahorok subdistrict Langkat cause terangkutnya nutrients P and K to the valley as well as the value of the levels of C-organic and N-total high value of land in the back caused by a number of existing litter above the soil surface.Required soil and water conservation efforts in the form of ground cover (cover crop) as well as the manufacture of terracing on slopes to prevent soil erosion

Prospects for United States of America-China political and economic relations under Donald Trump's presidency

    Get PDF
The purpose of this article was to introduce the possible future relations between China and the United States of America under Donald Trump’s presidency. The paper is divided into five sections: economy, real challenges, trade policy and industry, diplomacy. Each of them is introducing key issues in terms of the main topic. The secondary point of this article was to show the gravity of change after United States of America election results in December 2016 and the impact of this event on American policy toward China. The main conclusion which arised from the article is: USA-China relations during upcoming decade are going to be eminently tensed that it was before. Trade policy, Taiwan, strategic rapprochement of the United States of America with such countries as India and Russia, as well as innovation race across many industries, will remain a point of contention. The future of Sino-US relations will probably depend mostly on the emerging administration of the 45th President of the United States of America

Reduction of the spectral linewidth of semiconductor lasers with quantum wire effects—Spectral properties of GaAlAs double heterostructure lasers in high magnetic fields

    Get PDF
The spectral linewidth of a GaAlAs double heterostructure laser placed in a high magnetic field is measured at 190 K. It is found that the power-dependent spectral linewidth is reduced by a factor of 0.6 in a magnetic field of 19 T. This reduction is believed to result mainly from the reduction of the linewidth enhancement factor alpha due to a quasi-one-dimensional electronic system formed by the high magnetic field (i.e., by quantum wire effects)

Large-signal dynamics of an ultrafast semiconductor laser at digital modulation rates approaching 10 Gbit/s

    Get PDF
High-fidelity pseudorandom digital modulation at 8.2 Gbit/s of an ultrahigh speed semiconductor laser is demonstrated. Studies using simple but representative pulse patterns at 10 Gbit/s give insights into the maximum digital modulation rate attainable from a given laser, as well as relations between large-signal digital performance and small-signal analog response

Superior Neuroprotective Efficacy of LAU-0901, a Novel Platelet-Activating Factor Antagonist, in Experimental Stroke

    Get PDF
Platelet-activating factor (PAF) accumulates during cerebral ischemia, and inhibition of this process plays a critical role in neuronal survival. Recently, we demonstrated that LAU-0901, a novel PAF receptor antagonist, is neuroprotective in experimental stroke. We used magnetic resonance imaging in conjunction with behavior and immunohistopathology to expand our understanding of this novel therapeutic approach. Sprague–Dawley rats received 2 h middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo) and were treated with LAU-0901 (60 mg/kg) or vehicle 2 h from MCAo onset. Behavioral function, T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), and apparent diffusion coefficients were performed on days 1, 3, and 7 after MCAo. Infarct volume and number of GFAP, ED-1, and NeuN-positive cells were conducted on day 7. Behavioral deficit was significantly improved by LAU-0901 treatment compared to vehicle on days 1, 3, and 7. Total lesion volumes computed from T2WI were significantly reduced by LAU-0901 on days 1, 3, and 7 (by 83%, 90%, and 96%, respectively), which was consistent with decreased edema formation. Histopathology revealed that LAU-0901 treatment resulted in significant reduction of cortical and subcortical infarct volumes, attenuated microglial infiltration, and promoted astrocytic and neuronal survival. These findings suggest LAU-0901 is a promising neuroprotectant and provide the basis for future therapeutics in patients suffering ischemic stroke

Intermodulation distortion in a directly modulated semiconductor injection laser

    Get PDF
A most important quantity in high-frequency analog transmission is the intermodulation distortion product. Experimental studies of the third order intermodulation distortion products in the modulation response of high-speed semiconductor lasers give very low values (< −60 dB) at low frequencies, an increase at a rate of 40 dB/dec as the modulation frequency is increased, and a leveling off at one-half of the relaxation oscillation resonance frequency. These experimental results can be well explained by a theory based on a perturbative analysis of laser dynamics
