    On-campus foodservices were the first choice for university students to dine in.Therefore, to maintain students’ level of satisfaction for on-campus foodservice, university foodservice have to be monitored and improve periodically.This study will discuss about the issues of unhealthy food, price not standardized and hygiene problem.This study highlights 2 outcomes in the view of the following objectives (1) determine the student satisfaction level on cafeteria services at cafeteria Inapan Siswa Bank Muamalat (2) determine the important factor of student satisfaction on cafeteria services at cafeteria Inapan Siswa Bank Muamalat.The data was collected through a questionnaire survey that targeting students from UUM that majority stay at route C, and analyse with SPSS v.21 statistical techniques. The results of descriptive analysis shown that overall of student satisfaction level on cafeteria is not satisfied and it concluded that the important factor of student satisfaction are cleanliness, customer service, price and food quality. Studies on these cafeteria only the beginning and researcher shall do future research for other cafeteria in UUM too to ensure that the all cafeteria in UUM able to deliver high degree of service qualit

    Whole‑Genome Sequencing of Pseudomonas koreensis Isolated from Diseased Tor tambroides

    Unlike environmental P. koreensis isolated from soil, which has been studied extensively for its role in promoting plant growth, pathogenic P. koreensis isolated from fish has been rarely reported. Therefore, we investigated and isolated the possible pathogen that is responsible for the diseased state of Tor tambroides. Herein, we reported the morphological and biochemical characteristics, as well as whole-genome sequences of a newly identified P. koreensis strain. We assembled a high-quality draft genome of P. koreensis CM-01 with a contig N50 value of 233,601 bp and 99.5% BUSCO completeness. The genome assembly of P. koreensis CM-01 is consists of 6,171,880 bp with a G+C content of 60.5%. Annotation of the genome identified 5538 protein-coding genes, 3 rRNA genes, 54 tRNAs, and no plasmids were found. Besides these, 39 interspersed repeat and 141 tandem repeat sequences, 6 prophages, 51 genomic islands, 94 insertion sequences, 4 clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats, 5 antibiotic-resistant genes, and 150 virulence genes were also predicted in the P. koreensis CM-01 genome. Culture-based approach showed that CM-01 strain exhibited resistance against ampicillin, aztreonam, clindamycin, and cefoxitin with a calculated multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index value of 0.4. In addition, the assembled CM-01 genome was successfully annotated against the Cluster of Orthologous Groups of proteins database, Gene Ontology database, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genome pathway database. A comparative analysis of CM-01 with three representative strains of P. koreensis revealed that 92% of orthologous clusters were conserved among these four genomes, and only the CM-01 strain possesses unique elements related to pathogenicity and virulence. This study provides fundamental phenotypic and genomic information for the newly identified P. koreensis strain

    Identification of QTL genes for BMD variation using both linkage and gene-based association approaches

    Low bone mineral density (BMD) is a risk factor for osteoporotic fracture with a high heritability. Previous large scale linkage study in Northern Chinese has identified four significant quantitative trait loci (QTL) for BMD variation on chromosome 2q24, 5q21, 7p21 and 13q21. We performed a replication study of these four QTL in 1,459 Southern Chinese from 306 pedigrees. Successful replication was observed on chromosome 5q21 for femoral neck BMD with a LOD score of 1.38 (nominal p value = 0.006). We have previously identified this locus in a genome scan meta-analysis of BMD variation in a white population. Subsequent QTL-wide gene-based association analysis in 800 subjects with extreme BMD identified CAST and ERAP1 as novel BMD candidate genes (empirical p value of 0.032 and 0.014, respectively). The associations were independently replicated in a Northern European population (empirical p value of 0.01 and 0.004 for CAST and ERAP1, respectively). These findings provide further evidence that 5q21 is a BMD QTL, and CAST and ERAP1 may be associated with femoral neck BMD variation

    A proposed prognostic 7-day survival formula for patients with terminal cancer

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The ability to identify patients for hospice care results in better end-of-life care. To develop a validated prognostic scale for 7-day survival prediction, a prospective observational cohort study was made of patients with terminal cancer.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Patient data gathered within 24 hours of hospital admission included demographics, clinical signs and symptoms and their severity, laboratory test results, and subsequent survival data. Of 727 patients enrolled, data from 374 (training group) was used to develop a prognostic tool, with the other 353 serving as the validation group.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Five predictors identified by multivariate logistic regression analysis included patient's cognitive status, edema, ECOG performance status, BUN and respiratory rate. A formula of the predictor model based on those five predictors was constructed. When probability was >0.2, death within 7 days was predicted in the training group and validation group, with sensitivity of 80.9% and 71.0%, specificity of 65.9% and 57.7%, positive predictive value of 42.6% and 26.8%, and negative predictive value (NPV) of 91.7% and 90.1%, respectively.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>This predictor model showed a relatively high sensitivity and NPV for predicting 7-day survival among terminal cancer patients, and could increase patient satisfaction by improving end-of-life care.</p

    Finishing the euchromatic sequence of the human genome

    The sequence of the human genome encodes the genetic instructions for human physiology, as well as rich information about human evolution. In 2001, the International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium reported a draft sequence of the euchromatic portion of the human genome. Since then, the international collaboration has worked to convert this draft into a genome sequence with high accuracy and nearly complete coverage. Here, we report the result of this finishing process. The current genome sequence (Build 35) contains 2.85 billion nucleotides interrupted by only 341 gaps. It covers ∼99% of the euchromatic genome and is accurate to an error rate of ∼1 event per 100,000 bases. Many of the remaining euchromatic gaps are associated with segmental duplications and will require focused work with new methods. The near-complete sequence, the first for a vertebrate, greatly improves the precision of biological analyses of the human genome including studies of gene number, birth and death. Notably, the human enome seems to encode only 20,000-25,000 protein-coding genes. The genome sequence reported here should serve as a firm foundation for biomedical research in the decades ahead

    Blending voluntary and governmental organizations for community development planning

    The term 'community development' used in this thesis applies to an urban neighborhood. Incorporating the ideology of community development into community planning would make community planning developmental., Community developmental planning implies the realization of human potential; the concentration on the strengths of different community organizations as well as the mobilization of organized human resources for a balanced social and physical development, The NIP/LAP (Neighborhood Improvement Program / Local Area Planning) program of the City of Vancouver is chosen as an example to illustrate this concept. The purpose of NIP/LAP, as viewed from a developmental perspective, would be to help local residents identify their needs, mobilize them for active participation and develop local leadership for future local initiative in neighborhood planning. When NIP funding is exhausted, community developmental planners can leave behind a team of organized and mobilized local leaders capable of making future initiations for community betterment. The focus of the thesis is on the organizationa1 process of achieving community developmental planning. Voluntary and governmental organizations can complement each other to bring about this kind of developmental planning in local areas. This thesis looks into why and how they ought to be blended. The Riley Park NIP Committee and the Kitsilano Neighborhood House were chosen to represent respectively governmental and voluntary agencies for community developmental planning. Two research studies are conducted to identify the unique strengths and weaknesses of each type of organization. The first research investigates the role of local mobilization through the generation of social network. The second research attempts to understand the tactics of citizen participation adopted in achieving locally-initiated goals and plans.     Temperature-dependent acute toxicity of methomyl pesticide on larvae of 3 Asian amphibian species

    Relative to other animal taxa, ecotoxicological studies on amphibians are scarce, even though amphibians are experiencing global declines and pollution has been identified as an important threat. Agricultural lands provide important habitats for many amphibians, but often these lands are contaminated with pesticides. The authors determined the acute toxicity, in terms of 96-h median lethal concentrations, of the carbamate pesticide methomyl on larvae of 3 Asian amphibian species, the Asian common toad (Duttaphrynus melanostictus), the brown tree frog (Polypedates megacephalus), and the marbled pygmy frog (Microhyla pulchra), at 5 different temperatures (15°C, 20°C, 25°C, 30°C, and 35°C) to examine the relationships between temperature and toxicity. Significant interspecific variation in methomyl sensitivity and 2 distinct patterns of temperature-dependent toxicity were found. Because high proportions of malformation among the surviving tadpoles were observed, a further test was carried out on the tree frog to determine effect concentrations using malformation as the endpoint. Concentrations as low as 1.4% of the corresponding 96-h median lethal concentrations at 25°C were sufficient to cause malformation in 50% of the test population. As the toxicity of pesticides may be significantly amplified at higher temperatures, temperature effects should not be overlooked in ecotoxicological studies and derivation of safety limits in environmental risk assessment and management
