Effect of Tev scale new physics on the cross-section for the process e^+ e^- --> h \gamma

Tev scale new heavy physics could significantly affect the cross-section for the rare process e^+e^-\to H\gm through non-renormalizable operators involving the light SM fields. In this article we show that for \sqs =500 Gev and \lam =1 Tev some of these operators, which are only weakly constrained by the latest LEP and SLD data, could produce an observable number of events for mHm_H lying in the range 200-500 Gev. Whereas for \lam =5 Tev although no event with mH250m_H\le 250 Gev is likely to be seen, for moderately heavy higgs bosons with mHm_H lying in the range (400-500) Gev the production rate will be large enough to be detectable.Comment: Plain Tex, No figure, 8 page

Reflective Argumentation

    Get PDF
Theories of argumentation usually focus on arguments as means of persuasion, finding consensus, or justifying knowledge claims. However, the construction and visualization of arguments can also be used to clarify one's own thinking and to stimulate change of this thinking if gaps, unjustified assumptions, contradictions, or open questions can be identified. This is what I call "reflective argumentation." The objective of this paper is, first, to clarify the conditions of reflective argumentation and, second, to discuss the possibilities of argument visualization methods in supporting reflection and cognitive change. After a discussion of the cognitive problems we are facing in conflicts--obviously the area where cognitive change is hardest--the second part will, based on this, determine a set of requirements argument visualization tools should fulfill if their main purpose is stimulating reflection and cognitive change. In the third part, I will evaluate available argument visualization methods with regard to these requirements and talk about their limitations. The fourth part, then, introduces a new method of argument visualization which I call Logical Argument Mapping (LAM). LAM has specifically been designed to support reflective argumentation. Since it uses primarily deductively valid argument schemes, this design decision has to be justified with regard to goals of reflective argumentation. The fifth part, finally, provides an example of how Logical Argument Mapping could be used as a method of reflective argumentation in a political controversy

Interpretation of Angular Distributions of ZZ-boson Production at Colliders

High precision data of dilepton angular distributions in γ/Z\gamma^*/Z production were reported recently by the CMS Collaboration covering a broad range of the dilepton transverse momentum, qTq_T, up to 300\sim 300 GeV. Pronounced qTq_T dependencies of the λ\lambda and ν\nu parameters, characterizing the cos2θ\cos^2\theta and cos2ϕ\cos 2\phi angular distributions, were found. Violation of the Lam-Tung relation was also clearly observed. We show that the qTq_T dependence of λ\lambda allows a determination of the relative contributions of the qqˉq \bar q annihilation versus the qGqG Compton process. The violation of the Lam-Tung relation is attributed to the presence of a non-zero component of the qqˉq - \bar q axis in the direction normal to the "hadron plane" formed by the colliding hadrons. The magnitude of the violation of the Lam-Tung relation is shown to reflect the amount of this `non-coplanarity". The observed qTq_T dependencies of λ\lambda and ν\nu from the CMS and the earlier CDF data can be well described using this approach.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure

The development of civil society in Indonesia raises important questions to be answered at the same time also be a fundamental reason for doing this study, namely issues concerning the relationship between state and civil society. This study wanted to see the relationship between the State and civil society in the province of Riau, studies the relationship between local government and the Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAM Riau). This study is a qualitative research, the data collection techniques in this study is a descriptive analysis. This study uses in-depth interviews with informants who did understand the problems being as an object of research information, and documentation study aimed to obtain information in the study. The purpose of this study was: (1) To determine the relationship between the state with civil society (civil society), especially with the local government of Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR). (2) for Classifying the factors that affect the relationship between the State and civil society in local government studies Riau Malay Customary Institution (LAMR). This study is a qualitative research technique used to collect data Descriptive AnalysisThe results showed that: 1) the relationship between the state and civil society, especially local governments with LAM Riau Riau is: in relation to the provision of operational funds LAM County, in the form of grant funding, the award honors the relationship / indigenous to the Governor of Riau and political relationships in . The relationship between the local government in this case is DPRD Riau Riau with LAM, the relationship is in the policy making, LAM County already has a role in the policy-making process, in drafting local regulations (Regulation). LAM Riau involved in the process of drafting local regulations, particularly regulations relating to the area of indigenous cultural communities or Riau. 2) the relationship between the state and civil society in the province of Riau, influenced by, the political environment factors, environmental factors, government, local environmental factors / social, human resource factor. Keywords: State, civil society, local governme
