The Vertical-Tube Solar Collector: A Low-Cost Design Suitable for Temperate High-Latitude Locations
A new low-cost solar collector based on thick (4.5′′) vertical tubes related to the previous design based on long 1.5′′ plastic hoses connected directly between water-grid supply and consumption is presented. This novel design could noticeably improve its performance for temperate locations mid and high latitudes, as was demonstrated by dynamic thermal modeling. This tool has been useful for understanding the particular characteristics of this kind of water-pond collector and besides, for noticeably improving its performance by optimizing its parameters, like tube diameter and number of glazing layers. By this way, the optimized design could fully satisfy the household demand up to midnight along the whole year for Buenos Aires (35°S) and during summers (remaining as a useful preheater for the whole year) for Ushuaia (55°S). Besides, its high simplicity makes it available for user’s own construction, costing down 50 dollars for a single-family unit.Fil: Juanico, Luis Eduardo. Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica. Refining the Shifted Topological Vertex
We study aspects of the refining and shifting properties of the 3d MacMahon
function used in topological string theory and BKP
hierarchy. We derive the explicit expressions of the shifted topological vertex
and its refined version
. These vertices complete results in
literature.Comment: Latex, 14 pages, 2 figures. To appear in Jour Math Phy
Il disegno dell’indagine sulle condizioni economiche e sociali delle famiglie nella Provincia di Modena
This paper describes the survey and sample designs adopted to carry out the income survey in province of Modena. Specifically, it illustrates the determination of the sampling size, the territorial stratification, the selection of sampling units, the calculation of weights, the variance of estimators, post-stratification and calibration, the key-points of nonsampling errors, some indicators of total and partial nonresponses
Low Temperature Structural and Transport Studies of La0.175Pr0.45Ca0.375MnO3
The temperature (T) dependent x-ray diffraction (XRD) and resistivity
measurements of La0.175Pr0.45Ca0.375MnO3 (LPCMO) have been performed down to 2K
to understand the structural and transport properties. From room temperature
down to 220K, LPCMO exists in orthorhombic phase with Pnma structure and at
220K, it transforms to charge ordered (CO) monoclinic phase with P21/m
structure and remains as it is down to 2K. The CO phase is evident from the
occurrence of weak but well defined superlattice peaks in the XRD pattern. This
structural transformation is of first order in nature as evident from the phase
coexistence across the transition region. These results thus clearly illustrate
that LPCMO undergoes a first order structural phase transition from charge
disordered orthorhombic phase to CO monoclinic phase at 220K, consistent with
temperature dependent resistivity results. Our structural analysis of T
dependent XRD data using Rietveld refinement infers that below 220K, LPCMO
forms commensurate CO monoclinic P21/m structure with four times structural
modulation.Comment: 2 pages, 3 figure, accepted in AIP conference proccedin
Il disegno della seconda indagine sulle condizioni economiche e sociali delle famiglie nella Provincia di Modena
This paper describes the survey and sample designs adopted to carry out the second occasion of the income survey in province of Modena. Specifically, it illustrates the determination of the sampling size, the territorial stratification, the selection of sampling units, the calculation of weights, some results obtained from the previous occasion, the variance of estimators, post-stratification and calibration, the key-points of an income longitudinal survey, some indicators of total and partial nonresponses. Note: a previous paper (Lalla, 2003) reports the procedures adopted in the first occasion
Potensi Air Cucian Beras Sebagai Pupuk Organik Pada Tanaman Seledri (Apium Graveolens L.)
Rice washing water is a waste or waste from households that have not been widely used. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of rice washing water on growth and yield of celery plants and to see the potency of rice washing water as organic fertilizer in celery plant. The study was conducted in November 2017 - February 2018. The study was prepared according to a Randomized Block Design with 4 treatments and 4 replications namely A0: control, A1: wash water of first rinse rice, A2: water wash of second rinse rice and A3: water washing rice third rinse. The number of replicates as many as 4 and each there are 2 units of plants so that the total plant observed as many as 32 plants. The results showed that rice washing water had no significant effect on the growth of celery plants. The A3 treatment (third rinse washing water) resulted in more leaves than the other treatments. Rice laundry water is potential for use in celery plants but at a more dilute concentration (third rinse washing water)
