Durability increase of mining dump trucks through the use of protective coatings of the body

The share of trucking in the total cost of open-cast mining is 50% or more. Therefore, reducing transportation costs is one of the tasks of increasing the technical and economic indicators of an open development method, which is an urgent task. Performance dump truck is estimated either by the volume of transported rock mass (in cubic meter or tons), or the value of cargo turnover (ton-kilometers). However, these indicators do not take into account the percentage of adhering rock that is transported uselessly and reduces productivity. The paper proposes methods for protecting the body of a mining dump truck from clay rocks adhering. Detail the method of protection with the help of vibration using metal structure is considered. A mathematical model of the stress-strain state of a two-layer beam is proposed. The dependence of the stress in the body on the stiffness of the elastic supports and impact energy when using a rubber lining is shown. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved

Background. Infections transmitted to humans by the bites of ixodid ticks remain an urgent public health problem. In this work we explored the natural foci of tickborne infections located in the valley of the Chikoy River, which is a part of the buffer zone of the Baikal natural territory. The aim. To characterize the modern diversity and prevalence of tick-borne pathogens in the ecosystems of the valley of the Chikoy River (Trans-Baikal Territory, Russian Federation).Materials and methods. Thirteen sampling sites were located in typical biotopes throughout the Chikoy valley. In total 48  adult Ixodes persulcatus ticks, 1  female Haemaphysalis concinna tick and 38 specimens of small mammals were studied. All samples were tested for infection with seven tick-borne pathogens using multiplex real-time PCR.Results. No pathogens were detected in the H. concinna specimen. No R. sibirica and R. heilongjiangensis were detected both in ticks and in rodents. Among I. persulcatus, tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV), and the prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi s. l. comprised 39.5 %, A. phagocytophilum – 16.7 %, B. miyamotoi – 8.3 % and Ehrlichia sp. – 2.1 %. Among infected ticks 6.2 % were co-infected with B. burgdorferi s. l. and A. phagocytophilum. Four rodent hosts of ticks and infections were identified: Myodes rufocanus (44.7  %), Apodemus peninsulae (39  %), Microtus oeconomus (13.2  %) and M.  rutilus (2.6  %). Mean prevalence of B.  burgdorferi  s.  l. in  rodents comprised 39.5 %, B. miyamotoi – 28.9 %, Ehrlichia sp. – 21.1 % and A. phagocytophilum – 18.4 %. TBEV was detected in 5.3 % of rodents.Conclusion. At least five tick-borne pathogens circulate in the Chikoi River valley, i. e. TBEV, B. burgdorferi sensu lato, A. phagocytophilum, B. miyamotoi and Ehrlichia sp. The wide spread of I. persulcatus and abundance of competent rodent hosts of infections and ticks indicates that natural foci of tick-borne diseases are widely distributed in the Chikoi River valley

Model Selection Approach Suggests Causal Association between 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and Colorectal Cancer

Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC), but causal relationship has not yet been confirmed. We investigate the direction of causation between vitamin D and CRC by extending the conventional approaches to allow pleiotropic relationships and by explicitly modelling unmeasured confounders.Plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OHD), genetic variants associated with 25-OHD and CRC, and other relevant information was available for 2645 individuals (1057 CRC cases and 1588 controls) and included in the model. We investigate whether 25-OHD is likely to be causally associated with CRC, or vice versa, by selecting the best modelling hypothesis according to Bayesian predictive scores. We examine consistency for a range of prior assumptions.Model comparison showed preference for the causal association between low 25-OHD and CRC over the reverse causal hypothesis. This was confirmed for posterior mean deviances obtained for both models (11.5 natural log units in favour of the causal model), and also for deviance information criteria (DIC) computed for a range of prior distributions. Overall, models ignoring hidden confounding or pleiotropy had significantly poorer DIC scores. Results suggest causal association between 25-OHD and colorectal cancer, and support the need for randomised clinical trials for further confirmations

Determinants of serum levels of vitamin D: a study of life-style, menopausal status, dietary intake, serum calcium, and PTH

Background: Low blood levels of vitamin D (25-hydroxy D3, 25OHD3) in women have been associated with an increased risk of several diseases. A large part of the population may have suboptimal 25OHD3 levels but high-risk groups are not well known. The aim of the present study was to identify determinants for serum levels of 25OHD3 in women, i.e. factors such as lifestyle, menopausal status, diet and selected biochemical variables. Methods: The study was based on women from the Malmo Diet and Cancer Study (MDCS), a prospective, population-based cohort study in Malmo, Sweden. In a previous case-control study on breast cancer, 25OHD3 concentrations had been measured in 727 women. In these, quartiles of serum 25OHD3 were compared with regard to age at baseline, BMI (Body Max Index), menopausal status, use of oral contraceptives or menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), life-style (e. g. smoking and alcohol consumption), socio-demographic factors, season, biochemical variables (i.e. calcium, PTH, albumin, creatinine, and phosphate), and dietary intake of vitamin D and calcium. In order to test differences in mean vitamin D concentrations between different categories of the studied factors, an ANOVA test was used followed by a t-test. The relation between different factors and 25OHD3 was further investigated using multiple linear regression analysis and a logistic regression analysis. Results: We found a positive association between serum levels of 25OHD3 and age, oral contraceptive use, moderate alcohol consumption, blood collection during summer/autumn, creatinine, phosphate, calcium, and a high intake of vitamin D. Low vitamin D levels were associated with obesity, being born outside Sweden and high PTH levels. Conclusions: The present population-based study found a positive association between serum levels of 25OHD3 and to several socio-demographic, life-style and biochemical factors. The study may have implications e. g. for dietary recommendations. However, the analysis is a cross-sectional and it is difficult to suggest Lifestyle changes as cause-effect relationships are difficult to assess

The association between maternal 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration during gestation and early childhood cardio-metabolic outcomes: is there interaction with pre-pregnancy BMI?

    Get PDF
Both maternal 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) status and pre-pregnancy BMI (pBMI) may influence offspring cardio-metabolic outcomes. Lower 25OHD concentrations have been observed in women with both low and high pBMIs, but the combined influence of pBMI and 25OHD on offspring cardio-metabolic outcomes is unknown. Therefore, this study investigated the role of pBMI in the association between maternal 25OHD concentration and cardio-metabolic outcomes in 5-6 year old children. Data were obtained from the ABCD cohort study and 1882 mother-child pairs were included. The offspring outcomes investigated were systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, BMI, body fat percentage (%BF), waist-to-height ratio, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, C-peptide, and insulin resistance (HOMA2-IR). 62% of the C-peptide samples were below the detection limit and were thus imputed using survival analysis. Models were corrected for maternal and offspring covariates and tested for interaction with pBMI. Interaction with pBMI was observed in the associations with insulin resistance markers: in offspring of overweight mothers (≥25.0 kg/m2), a 10 nmol/L increase in maternal 25OHD was associated with a 0.007(99%CI:-0.01,-0.001) nmol/L decrease in C-peptide and a 0.02(99%CI:-0.03,-0.004) decrease in HOMA2-IR. When only non-imputed data were analyzed, there was a trend for interaction in the relationship but the results lost significance. Interaction with pBMI was not observed for the other outcomes. A 10 nmol/L increase in maternal 25OHD was significantly associated with a 0.13%(99%CI:-0.3,-0.003) decrease in %BF after correction for maternal and child covariates. Thus, intrauterine exposure to both low 25OHD and maternal overweight may be associated with increased insulin resistance in offspring, while exposure to low 25OHD in utero may be associated with increased offspring %BF with no interactive effects from pBMI. Due to the limitations of this study, these results are not conclusive, however the observations of this study pose important research questions for future studies to investigate
