Several types of materials are frequently used for dental prostheses in dental medicine. Different treatments with titanium are the most used. The aim of the present study was to analyze by means of cytotoxicity and cytocompatibility techniques the capacity of dental implants to integrate to the bone tissue. Cultures of UMR 106 cell line derived from an osteosarcoma were used for bioassays mainly because they show many of the properties of osteoblasts. Dental implant samples provided by B&W company were compared with others of recognized trademarks. The first ones contain ASTM titanium (8348 GR2) with acid printing. Cytotoxicity was analyzed by means of lysosome activity, using the neutral red technique and alkaline phosphatase enzyme activity. Cell variability was determined by means of the acridine ethidium-orange bromide technique. One-way ANOVA and Bonferroni and Duncan post-ANOVA tests were used for the statistical analysis. The assays did not show significant differences among the dental implants analyzed. Our findings show that the dental prostheses studied present high biocompatibility, quantified by the bioassays performed. The techniques employed revealed that they can be a useful tool for the analysis of other materials for dental medicine use.Instituto Multidisciplinario de Biología Celula

Early childhood education institutions are referred to preschool, nursery school and practicum schools that educate young children. Preschool curriculum was developed for children in the preschool education institutions to provide a rich learning experience and to help healthy growth. Creativity is fundamental for the preschool curriculum and can be defined as a procedure to create original things. Preschool teachers should provide children with materials to trigger their imagination, should provide opportunities to imagine and to explain their ideas, should appreciate children’s individuality, and should encourage their different viewpoints. They also should encourage children to participate in creative games, should care about children’s new products, and value them. Moreover, children’s creativity should be appreciated, and children should be given confidence. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the creativity of children in the preschool. A simple causal design with pre-and post-test with a single group was used in the study. The participants consisted of 184 children (96 boys, 88 girls) enrolled in preschool and nursery schools belong to Ministry of Education located in Ankara during the 2014-2015 academic year. Figural Creativity Form A and B of Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking were used as pre-and post-tests. The results showed that preschool curriculum increased children’s creativity in a positive way. © 2019 by authors, all rights reserved

With the purpose to establish a foundation group to carry out a dairy improvement plan for Argentine Creole cattle, thirty-eight dams and one sire belonging to this breed were selected. In order to evaluate such selection effect on six loci, polymorphisms of b-lactoglobulin, growth hormone, F13A, BoLA-DRB3, BoLA-DYA, and the microsatellite D23S5 were characterized in the selected population (38 animals), as well as in unselected population (78 animals). The characterization of b-lactoglobulin, growth hormone, F13A, BoLA-DRB3, BoLA-DYA alleles was carried out through the techniques of PCR-RFLP, while the D23S5 variants were characterized by PCR-sequencing gel methodology. These results revealed a significant increase of b-lactoglobulin B variant and non significant increase in D23S5 B variant. Whereas no significant difterences between the selected and unselected population were observed for gene frequencies of growth hormone F13A, BoLA-DRB3, BoLA-DYA. The observed differences could be consequence of selection eftect. Family studies would be nessesary to confirm that the observed differencies were consequence of association between these molecular markers with quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for milk production.Fil: Ripoli, María Verónica. Growth hormone and treatment outcomes: Expert review of current clinical practice

    No full text
Although there are guidelines for treatment of short stature, open questions regarding optimal management of growth hormone therapy still exist. Experts attending six international meetings agree that successful therapy results in the patient attaining mid-parental height, and relies on correct diagnosis and early intervention. Experts advocate patient follow-up every 3-6 months, and that growth and adherence should be monitored at each visit. Growth response is variable, and an accepted definition of good/poor response is lacking. Combined with patient education and regular patient follow-up, a definition of treatment response could lead to improved treatment outcomes. Few experts use prediction models in clinical practice, but all agree that pharmacogenetics might improve prediction, enable early therapy modulation, and promote growth. Poor growth is often due to low adherence. Guidance on optimal management of growth hormone therapy is required, with focus on early diagnosis, dosin
