Melting a Hubbard dimer: benchmarks of 'ALDA' for quantum thermodynamics

    Get PDF
The competition between evolution time, interaction strength, and temperature challenges our understanding of many-body quantum systems out-of-equilibrium. Here we consider a benchmark system, the Hubbard dimer, which allows us to explore all the relevant regimes and calculate exactly the related average quantum work. At difference with previous studies, we focus on the effect of increasing temperature, and show how this can turn competition between many-body interactions and driving field into synergy. We then turn to use recently proposed protocols inspired by density functional theory to explore if these effects could be reproduced by using simple approximations. We find that, up to and including intermediate temperatures, a method which borrows from ground-state adiabatic local density approximation improves dramatically the estimate for the average quantum work, including, in the adiabatic regime, when correlations are strong. However at high temperature and at least when based on the pseudo-LDA, this method fails to capture the counterintuitive qualitative dependence of the quantum work with interaction strength, albeit getting the quantitative estimates relatively close to the exact results

In this paper we present Architecture, Algorithms and VLSI implementation in CMOS 65 nm, of an ISDB-T Digital Receiver for Fixed-Reception of Digital Television. Furthermore, we show the System Test environment used to validate the FPGA and VLSI designs. The Receiver can work on Zero-IF or IF modes and several blocks are based on CORDIC Algorithm. It is the first VLSI implementation of an ISDB-T receiver in Brazil, in full compliance with the so-called ISDB-Tb. Furthermore, it is a landmark within IC-Brazil Program, which aims the development of an ecosystem in Microelectronics, capable of insert Brazil in the International Semiconductor landscape. © 2012 IEEE.116120IEEE Consumer Electronics Society,IFA Consumer Electronics Unlimited,VDE/ITG,Technicolor,Ulm University,HTW(2005) Transmission System for Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting, , ARIB, ARIB STD-B31, v1.6 E2, NovemberDigital Video Broadcasting: Framing Structure, Channel Coding and Modulation for Digital Terrestrial Television (2004) European Telecommunication Standard EN 300744, , ETSI, V 1.5, NovemberChiquito, J.G., Arantes, D.S., Costa, M.H.M., (2000) Considerations on the Final SET/ABERT Report for Establishing A Digital Television Standard in Brazil, , Public Consultation No 237 , Submitted to Anatel on July 31Pimenta, V., (2008) Metodologia Brazil-IP - Registro Do Método e Análise de Casos de Uso e Experiências No Decorrer Dos Trabalhos Deste Consórcio, , Msc. Overview of the current status of familial hypercholesterolaemia care in over 60 countries - The EAS Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC)

    No full text
Background and aims: Management of familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) may vary across different settings due to factors related to population characteristics, practice, resources and/or policies. We conducted a survey among the worldwide network of EAS FHSC Lead Investigators to provide an overview of FH status in different countries. Methods: Lead Investigators from countries formally involved in the EAS FHSC by mid-May 2018 were invited to provide a brief report on FH status in their countries, including available information, programmes, initiatives, and management. Results: 63 countries provided reports. Data on FH prevalence are lacking in most countries. Where available, data tend to align with recent estimates, suggesting a higher frequency than that traditionally considered. Low rates of FH detection are reported across all regions. National registries and education programmes to improve FH awareness/knowledge are a recognised priority, but funding is often lacking. In most countries, diagnosis primarily relies on the Dutch Lipid Clinics Network criteria. Although available in many countries, genetic testing is not widely implemented (frequent cost issues). There are only a few national official government programmes for FH. Under-treatment is an issue. FH therapy is not universally reimbursed. PCSK9-inhibitors are available in ∼2/3 countries. Lipoprotein-apheresis is offered in ∼60% countries, although access is limited. Conclusions: FH is a recognised public health concern. Management varies widely across countries, with overall suboptimal identification and under-treatment. Efforts and initiatives to improve FH knowledge and management are underway, including development of national registries, but support, particularly from health authorities, and better funding are greatly needed. © 2018 Elsevier B.V
