The ancient (pre-roman or roman) place-name for the village of “Torredonjimeno” (Jaen, in the South of Spain) is actually disputed. For some scholars it would be “Tucci Vetus”, for some others “Abra”. Further on, during the Visigothic time, it would be named “Ossaria”. Finally, in Torredonjimeno and generally speaking, in Jaen province, the names used nowadays are “Tosiria” for the village and “Tosirian” for its inhabitants. The present research work is aimed to bring some light into the problem

Experimental study of laser dissimilar joining for Usibor 2000 and Al-T7075 with Tepex 102

Due to the needs of weight reduction in the automobile structures and of time reduction in the Body-In-White (BIW) manufacturing stage, effective and accurate dissimilar joining is demanded to take advantage of metal-polymer structures. Automotive industry is highly interested in the combination of metal alloys and composite materials; however, dissimilar joining of this type of materials without using mechanic or adhesive joining is a challenge. As an alternative to the classical joining techniques, laser technology can be used to join dissimilar materials. In laser direct joining, a laser beam is used to heat the metal and by conduction to heat the polymer up to melting temperature in the interface without reaching degradation temperature. In this work, an experimental procedure is proposed to set the basis of dissimilar joining between metal and composite parts for the automobile industry. To do that, laser texturing on metallic parts was studied and a wide battery of experimental test were performed to obtain the proper joining process parameters for dissimilar joining between Usibor 2000 and Al-T7075 with Tepex 102. Results show that is possible to reach over 17 MPa in lap shear adhesion test which is similar to the performance of typical adhesives used in automotive industry.Authors wish to thank Basque Country Government for financial support provided through MULTIMAT project Elkartek KK2017/00088 as well as the Spanish Industry ministry for support provided in INTEGRADDI project DPI 2016-79889

Laser Texturing and Dissimilar Material Joining

Laser texturing is a process used to remove material selectively. Metallic parts were processed in order to create a surface texture that enables metal-polymer joining. This kind of dissimilar joining is carried out combining a pressure fixture and heating using a direct diode laser source. In order to reach a good result, it is critical to texture the surface with correct parameters to generate surface features that maximizes the contact between materials and heating enough the materials to soften the polymer but without melting and degrading the material, so, a temperature control system is necessary to get best results. In this work, the texturing capabilities of conventional CW laser source were explored and numerical model was developed in order to simulate and control the process temperature in the joining interface. This work was carried out with the funding help received from PARADDISE project ID723440 under FoF-13 H2020 progra

Phenotypic characterization of oral streptococci by classical methods

    Get PDF
The phenotypic characteristics of 215 strains of oral streptococci were compared on the basis of the results of sorbitol, raffinose and trehalose fermentation, ammonium from arginine production, aesculin hydrolysis, H2O2 production, susceptibility to 2 U bacitracin, and growth in 4% NaCl solution. Eleven different species were identified. Among the most noteworthy findings were the low number of H2O2-producing strains of Streptococcus sobrinus, the effective discrimination between Streptococcus sanguis and Streptococcus mitis on the basis of raffinose fermentation, and the phenotypic similarity between Streptococcus oralis and the former mutans group. To avoid the creation of new species, the term biotype is proposed to designate phenotypically distinct organisms which do not qualify as different species

    Get PDF
Purpose This study aims to discern emerging trends and provide a longitudinal perspective on merchandising research by identifying relationships between merchandising-related subdomains/themes. Design/methodology/approach This study sourced 657 merchandising-related articles published since 1960, from the Scopus database and 425 from Web of Science. After processing and normalizing the data, this study performed co-word and thematic network analyses. Taking a text mining approach, this study used topic modeling to identify a set of coherent topics characterized by the keywords of the articles. Findings This study identified the following merchandising-related themes: branding, retail, consumer, behavior, modeling, textile and clothing industry and visual merchandising. Although visual merchandising was the first type of merchandising to be used in-store, only recently has it become an emerging topic in the academic literature. There has been a further trend over the past decade to understand the adoption of simulation technology, such as computer-aided design, particularly in supply chain management in the clothing industry. These and other findings contribute to the discussion of the merchandising concept, approached from an evolutionary perspective. Research limitations/implications The conclusions of this study hold implications at the intersection of merchandising, sectors, new technologies, research methodologies and merchandising-practitioner education. Research trends suggest that, in the future, virtual reality and augmented reality using neuroscientific methods will be applied to the e-merchandising context. Practical implications The different dimensions of merchandising can be used to leverage store managers’ decision-making process toward an integrated store-management strategy. In particular, by adopting loyalty merchandising tactics, the store can generate emotional attachment among consumers, who will perceive its value and services as unique, thanks to merchandising items designed specifically with that aim in mind. The stimulation of unplanned purchases, the strategic location of products and duration of each merchandising activity in the store, the digitalization of merchandising and the application of findings from neuroscience studies are some of the most relevant practical applications. Originality/value This study provides the first-ever longitudinal review of the state of the art in merchandising research, taking a holistic perspective of this field of knowledge spanning a 60-year period. The work makes a valuable contribution to the development of the marketing discipline.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of MFDAs characteristics on satisfaction in a health emergence situation, as well as the interrelationships between satisfaction, trust, and continuance intention. Unlike other existing studies, this research examines the determinants of satisfaction classified into two groups based on the Expectation-Confirmation Model: on one hand, service-related factors (external - lifestyle compatibility and various food choices), and on the other hand, technical factors (internal - personalization, performance expectancy, and task technology fit) in the context of MFDA. Additionally, the moderating role of perceived COVID-19 risk was explored. The study provides a tool that app developers can use to test their proposed systems before commercialisation through measuring the relationship between MFDA system characteristics and user satisfaction.https://www.elsevier.com/locate/ijhmthj2024Marketing ManagementSDG-03:Good heatlh and well-beingSDG-09: Industry, innovation and infrastructur

In the last decade we have witnessed a dramatic increase in the proportion and absolute number of bacterial pathogens resistant to multiple antibacterial agents. Multidrug-resistant bacteria are currently considered as an emergent global disease and a major public health problem. The B-Debate meeting brought together renowned experts representing the main stakeholders (i.e. policy makers, public health authorities, regulatory agencies, pharmaceutical companies and the scientific community at large) to review the global threat of antibiotic resistance and come up with a coordinated set of strategies to fight antimicrobial resistance in a multifaceted approach. We summarize the views of the B-Debate participants regarding the current situation of antimicrobial resistance in animals and the food chain, within the community and the healthcare setting as well as the role of the environment and the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, providing expert recommendations to tackle the global threat of antimicrobial resistance

Positive psychology of Malaysian students: impacts of engagement, motivation, self-compassion and wellbeing on mental health

    Get PDF
Malaysia plays a key role in education of the Asia Pacific, expanding its scholarly output rapidly. However, mental health of Malaysian students is challenging, and their help-seeking is low because of stigma. This study explored the relationships between mental health and positive psychological constructs (academic engagement, motivation, self-compassion, and wellbeing), and evaluated the relative contribution of each positive psychological construct to mental health in Malaysian students. An opportunity sample of 153 students completed the measures regarding these constructs. Correlation, regression, and mediation analyses were conducted. Engagement, amotivation, self-compassion, and wellbeing were associated with, and predicted large variance in mental health. Self-compassion was the strongest independent predictor of mental health among all the positive psychological constructs. Findings can imply the strong links between mental health and positive psychology, especially selfcompassion. Moreover, intervention studies to examine the effects of self-compassion training on mental health of Malaysian students appear to be warranted.N/
