Hairy rotating black string in the Einstein-Maxwell-Higgs system
We show numerically that the Abelian Higgs field equations in the background
of a four-dimensional rotating charged black string have vortex solutions.
These solutions which have axial symmetry show that the rotating black string
can support the Abelian Higgs field as hair. We find that one encounters with
an electric field coupled to the Higgs scalar field for the case of rotating
black string. This electric field is due to an electric charge per unit length,
which increases as the rotation parameter becomes larger. We also find that the
vortex thickness decreases as the rotation parameter grows up. Finally we
consider the self-gravity of the Abelian Higgs field and show that the effect
of the vortex is to induce a deficit angle in the metric under consideration

Novel Experience Induces Persistent Sleep-Dependent Plasticity in the Cortex but not in the Hippocampus
Episodic and spatial memories engage the hippocampus during acquisition but migrate to the cerebral cortex over time. We have recently proposed that the interplay between slow-wave (SWS) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep propagates recent synaptic changes from the hippocampus to the cortex. To test this theory, we jointly assessed extracellular neuronal activity, local field potentials (LFP), and expression levels of plasticity-related immediate-early genes (IEG) arc and zif-268 in rats exposed to novel spatio-tactile experience. Post-experience firing rate increases were strongest in SWS and lasted much longer in the cortex (hours) than in the hippocampus (minutes). During REM sleep, firing rates showed strong temporal dependence across brain areas: cortical activation during experience predicted hippocampal activity in the first post-experience hour, while hippocampal activation during experience predicted cortical activity in the third post-experience hour. Four hours after experience, IEG expression was specifically upregulated during REM sleep in the cortex, but not in the hippocampus. Arc gene expression in the cortex was proportional to LFP amplitude in the spindle-range (10–14 Hz) but not to firing rates, as expected from signals more related to dendritic input than to somatic output. The results indicate that hippocampo-cortical activation during waking is followed by multiple waves of cortical plasticity as full sleep cycles recur. The absence of equivalent changes in the hippocampus may explain its mnemonic disengagement over time
Horizonless Rotating Solutions in -dimensional Einstein-Maxwell Gravity
We introduce two classes of rotating solutions of Einstein-Maxwell gravity in
dimensions which are asymptotically anti-de Sitter type. They have no
curvature singularity and no horizons. The first class of solutions, which has
a conic singularity yields a spacetime with a longitudinal magnetic field and
rotation parameters. We show that when one or more of the rotation
parameters are non zero, the spinning brane has a net electric charge that is
proportional to the magnitude of the rotation parameters. The second class of
solutions yields a spacetime with an angular magnetic field and
boost parameters. We find that the net electric charge of these traveling
branes with one or more nonzero boost parameters is proportional to the
magnitude of the velocity of the brane. We also use the counterterm method
inspired by AdS/CFT correspondence and calculate the conserved quantities of
the solutions. We show that the logarithmic divergencies associated to the Weyl
anomalies and matter field are zero, and the divergence of the action can

Nariai, Bertotti-Robinson and anti-Nariai solutions in higher dimensions
We find all the higher dimensional solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell theory
that are the topological product of two manifolds of constant curvature. These
solutions include the higher dimensional Nariai, Bertotti-Robinson and
anti-Nariai solutions, and the anti-de Sitter Bertotti-Robinson solutions with
toroidal and hyperbolic topology (Plebanski-Hacyan solutions). We give explicit
results for any dimension D>3. These solutions are generated from the
appropriate extremal limits of the higher dimensional near-extreme black holes
in a de Sitter, and anti-de Sitter backgrounds. Thus, we also find the mass and
the charge parameters of the higher dimensional extreme black holes as a

Ricci flat rotating black branes with a conformally invariant Maxwell source
We consider Einstein gravity coupled to an gauge field for which the
density is given by a power of the Maxwell Lagrangian. In -dimensions the
action of Maxwell field is shown to enjoy the conformal invariance if the power
is chosen as . We present a class of charge rotating solutions in
Einstein-conformally invariant Maxwell gravity in the presence of a
cosmological constant. These solutions may be interpreted as black brane
solutions with inner and outer event horizons or an extreme black brane
depending on the value of the mass parameter. Since we are considering power of
the Maxwell density, the black brane solutions exist only for dimensions which
are multiples of four. We compute conserved and thermodynamics quantities of
the black brane solutions and show that the expression of the electric field
does not depend on the dimension. Also, we obtain a Smarr-type formula and show
that these conserved and thermodynamic quantities of black branes satisfy the
first law of thermodynamics. Finally, we study the phase behavior of the
rotating black branes and show that there is no Hawking--Page phase transition
in spite of conformally invariant Maxwell field.Comment: 13 pages, one figur
Effect of Dietary Laminaria digitata with Carbohydrases on Broiler Production Performance and Meat Quality, Lipid Profile, and Mineral Composition
Research Areas: Agriculture; Veterinary Sciences; ZoologyABSTRACT - We hypothesized that dietary inclusion of 15% Laminaria digitata, supplemented or not with carbohydrases, could improve the nutritional value of poultry meat without impairing animal growth performance. A total of 120 22-day old broilers were fed the following dietary treatments (n = 10) for 14 days: cereal-based diet (control); control diet with 15% L. digitata (LA); LA diet with 0.005% Rovabio® Excel AP (LAR); LA diet with 0.01% alginate lyase (LAE). Final body weight was lower and feed conversion ratio higher with LA diet than with the control. The ileal viscosity increased with LA and LAR diets relative to control but without differences between LAE and control. The pH of thigh meat was higher, and the redness value of breast was lower with LA diet than with control. Meat overall acceptability was positively scored for all treatments. The γ-tocopherol decreased, whereas total chlorophylls and carotenoids increased in meat with alga diets relative to control. The percentage of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and accumulation of bromine and iodine in meat increased with alga diets compared with control. Feeding 15% of L. digitata to broilers impaired growth performance but enhanced meat quality by increasing antioxidant pigments, with beneficial effects on n-3 PUFA and iodineinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Charged rotating dilaton black branes in AdS universe
We present the metric for the -dimensional charged rotating dilaton
black branes with cylindrical or toroidal horizons in the background of anti-de
Sitter spacetime. We find the suitable counterterm which removes the
divergences of the action in the presence of the dilaton potential in all
higher dimensions. We plot the Penrose diagrams of the spacetime and reveal
that the spacetime geometry crucially modifies in the presence of the dilaton
field. The conserved and thermodynamic quantities of the black branes are also

Effect on Broiler Production Performance and Meat Quality of Feeding Ulva lactuca Supplemented with Carbohydrases
Macroalgae have been increasingly exploited worldwide for feed, food and biofuel
applications, due to their nutritive and bioactive compounds. Green seaweeds belonging to the genus
Ulva have high growth rates, which makes them suitable for being cultured in sustainable algae
production, such as an integrated multi-trophic aquaculture system. This is expected to increase the
use of Ulva sp. as an alternative source to conventional feedstuffs (e.g., cereals and soybean meal)
for poultry. The objective of the current study was to assess if the incorporation of 15% Ulva lactuca
in broiler chickens’ diet, combined or not with carbohydrate-active enzymes, would enhance meat
nutritional quality without compromising animal growth performance. Overall, U. lactuca led to
an accumulation of antioxidant carotenoids, n-3 PUFA and macrominerals, including magnesium,
potassium and phosphorus, in the breast muscle, with likely health benefits, without significantly
impairing growth performance. The supplementation of macroalgae with a recombinant ulvan lyase
reduced ileal viscosity with possible beneficial effects on broiler digestibility. Although dietary U.
lactuca showed potential to increase meat quality, it reduced meat overall acceptability, which suggests

Dimensional Dependence of Black Hole Formation in Self-Similar Collapse of Scalar Field
We study classical and quantum self-similar collapses of a massless scalar
field in higher dimensions, and examine how the increase in the number of
dimensions affects gravitational collapse and black hole formation. Higher
dimensions seem to favor formation of black hole rather than other final
states, in that the initial data space for black hole formation enlarges as
dimension increases. On the other hand, the quantum gravity effect on the
collapse lessens as dimension increases. We also discuss the gravitational
