Modern industrialization has originated a tremendous industrial growth. Discharge of industrial effluent is a critical threat to a safe environment. Removal of various pollutants from industrial wastewater is obligatory for controlling environmental pollution. Bioremediation using biotechnological interventions has attracted greater attention among the researchers in the field of control and abatement of environmental pollution. This review is aimed to introduce methods for bioremediation on the removal of organic pollutants from industrial wastewater that have been discussed, and the kinetic models that are related to it have been introduced. In addition, biotechnological interventions on bioremediation of pollutants have been discussed fingerprinting of microbial sp. present at polluted sites. Microbial electrochemical technologies such as a green technology for the removal of pollutants from industrial effluents and simultaneous resource recovery from industrial waste have been discussed to generate up-to-date scientific literature. This review also provides detailed knowledge gaps, challenges and research perspectives related to the topic.(undefined)info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Prevalence and characteristics of pneumatization of the temporal bone evaluated by cone beam computed tomography

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of pneumatization of the glenoid fossa and articular eminence by means of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. CBCT images of 658 patients (1316 joints) were evaluated to determine pneumatization in the articular eminence (PAT) and roof of the glenoid fossa (PGF). Age and gender were recorded for all patients and, for the cases of pneumatization, laterality and type (unilocular or multilocular) were noted. Its prevalence was correlated with gender, age and laterality by statistical analyses. 21.3% of individuals presented with PAT and 38.3% presented with PGF. Considering the temporomandibular joint, PAT was in 15.5% and PGF in 30.2%. Of PAT cases, 54.3% were unilateral and 45.7% bilateral; 3.4% were unilocular and 96.6% were multilocular. In the PGF cases, 42.5% were unilateral and 57.5% bilateral; 0.02% was unilocular and 99.8% were multilocular. There was no statistical difference regarding gender and age; but there was statistical difference regarding laterality, with higher frequency on the left side. In conclusion, there was a significant prevalence of PAT and PGF in the studied population; their prevalence seems higher than has been previously supposed42677177

The High School National Curriculum Parameters introduced Physical Education in the area of Languages, Codes and their Technologies, along with other subjects like Portuguese language, Arts, Information Technology, Literature and Foreign Modern Language. Thus, this study aimed to investigate how teachers understand Physical Education in this area. For achieving this, a qualitative case study was done, in which 16 teachers from three public state schools with over 1.500 students. The results, obtained through a questionnaire, demonstrate the teachers' difficulty in developing interdisciplinary projects, in identifying the possible relations among disciplines, and even in recognizing Physical Education as part of the area of Languages, Codes, and their Technologies. These are, therefore, important issues to be considered in the challenge of implementing the legal propositions in the schools of Primary Education

Quantitative XANES Studies on Metastable Equilibrium Adsorption of Arsenate on TiO2Surfaces

Quantitative information on the electronic and geometric structures of adsorption complexes of arsenate on TiO2 surfaces was obtained on the basis of XANES analysis combined with DFT calculation. The density of states (DOS) showed that the As(V) K-absorption edge corresponded to the dipole transition from the As Is electron into the As(4p)-O(2p) antibonding molecular orbital, suggesting that the bonding between arsenate and TiO2 was primarily due to the interaction of As 4p and O 2p orbitals. Previous EXAFS studies indicated that both bidentate binuclear (BB) and monodentate mononuclear (MM) surface complexes coexisted in the As(V)-TiO2 adsorption system. DFT calculation showed that the XANES transition energy of the BB complex was significantly higher than that of the MM complex. Thus, quantitative information on adsorption microstructures call be obtained by measuring the blue-shift of the XANES absorption edge. XANES results of adsorption samples at different kinetic stages indicated that there was a structural evolution from the MM complex to the BB complex as the reaction processed to adsorption equilibrium. Therefore, the final proportion between BB and MM complexes in the real equilibrium state was fundamentally affected by surface coverage and kinetic pathways. This fact implied that the real equilibrium constant, when defined by macroscopic parameters of concentration and adsorption density (mol/m(2)), are generally inconstant in nature and hence cannot describe the real equilibrium properties of adsorption, because different microscopic metastable equilibrium adsorption structures that construct the real adsorption equilibrium cannot be counted for both mass and energy by the macroscopic parameter of surface concentrations (mol/m(2))
